- This is the second time Messi got suspicious of the BBQ. The first time I lifted the cover and opened up the bottom doors, I found nothing so I left it at that. Few nights ago, Messi was whining wanting to go outside, I thought it was a rabbit, but saw a raccoon staring at us, even stood up, looking tough and fearless. I looked away for few seconds and it vanished. This morning, we let him out to the backyard and he was at it at the BBQ again, I was sure something was there this time....
I realized the first time I checked the BBQ, the raccoon was probably right there underneath the cover, in the gaps where I didn't suspect. And that night when it vanished, it was probably hiding under the covers as well... Now, I can only hope without the BBQ, hes unable to climb up, and that my attic does not already have his wify and kids... I need a drone to inspect what damage they have done...

It’s not necessarily being scared of a raccoon , but they can have rabies. And if they did and bit him that would suck he needs medical attention right after that’s a hassle, but worse off is if it bit the dog. Personally I would of gotten a bat or just shot it depending where u live u can do that lmao

Please please please make the dog go in the house the next time. Raccoons are generally nocturnal animals. So when they are out in the daylight, it could mean they have rabies. Although this one wasn’t acting rabied, but you never know. And besides, the raccoon doesn’t need ripped up by a dog just because it’s hungry and looking for something to eat.

My 10 old lab and 11mo old pit just came across their first coon encounter and lucky for the coon, my dogs sorta listened to me.
My lab was close to the kill, but I was able to call him away. I don't need any more vet bills. The puppy didn't back down either.

2 times my dog had a run in with raccoon. Both times not good for raccoon or dog. My dog had to get booster rabies vaccine and antibiotics for scratches.
