“Miko is the person that made the vast majority of cat animation in the game. He's really fluent and talented with keyframe animation, so we started the project using this technique. We heard about studios that provide actual cat motion capture - it was really funny for us to see the video of these poor cats in full mocap suits.

The cat was used for reference not mocap. There’s a difference. It’s been done in animation since the beginning. The genius part was they used a hairless Spynx cat so the fur didn’t get in the way.
