- This is the timing process for a 4G64, a little different than the standard 4G63 engine that comes with the Evo. Make sure you do more research on top of this video this is for you to have a visual of what you are looking at!!

That's enlightened me 👍🏽
I'm running a 4g64 block with 9 (mivec) head and wondered why my marks are slightly off.
I had my first 4g64 apparently 900hp capable uprated head gasket fail shortly after running in and Dyno miles at only 650 crank hp, then the second failed after less than 50 miles!! I don't think anybody makes a good gasket from what I read and heard. AMS used to mod the STD gaskets and worked reliably from what I read but they stopped doing them in 2010 apparently???
I've since had Darton 85mm liners fitted into my 4g64 and currently running 8mr gasket which I have used in the past and they haven't failed me once in 15,000 hard miles.👌🏽
I have had a forged 96mm crank snap, a std 4g64 crank snap, a gudgeon pin snap, solid lifter snap, a cracked CNC big valve head, 14 gear boxes fail, cracked in half rear disc, 2 rs rear diffs fail, and 4 tranny box's fail along the way, but the oe 8mr gaskets have never let me down👌🏽
Can u help me

Thanks for this! Built a 2.4LR and now running a 2.4 been rusty on getting the timing to line back up.
Best video, I trusted this and everything when perfect with mine
Are you guys still using cometic hg's? Had one let go on 20 psi on a 4g64 lol
Why didn’t u guys use the 4g64 belt from the 1994 galant dohc
Destroke bc of the head? Or crankshaft as well?
Hi, just come across this video. Do you happen to have a list of what's needed for this swap?
Did anyone mention that using 64 block with 63 head and 63 timing belt results in camshafts being out of normal marks half a tooth?
I have a 4g69 but 4g knowledge is 4g knowledge. So thankyou
im getting ready to build my 4g64 with me evo 9 head so i have the mivic any tips on that?
Depends. If you use a 4G64 belt the marks will be lined up. Evo 9 belt and you'll be close, but will need an adjustable cam gear to adjust the DOWEL on the cam gear to the timing mark on the valve cover.
it took me days to do this, 10 years ago.
Exactly why we made this video!
@@TylerAct back then, there was not a lot of info, all we new was a half tooth like you said, but i didnt know, and still dont know what degree to set the camshafts from the gears...... dunno, maybe thats why its been sitting for 7 years LOL
What timing belt you guys used
Oem evo 9 belt
what cannards are those ??

Is easier swap to Mivec head
How is it easier with the mivec head? That's what I have on my 4g64 but I don't build my engines so it would be interesting to know a little more about it if you could explain👍🏽
@@1jzAll faster spool, higher boost
@@jonathanleong2537 oh right...I thought you meant it was easier to time a mivec head up with a 4g64 block as opposed to an 8 head👍🏽
@@1jzAll I did that on my e8
