Good points. One more thing, despite the strength of laminated fabrics, offroad you will crash more and once damaged (and they will) a laminated suit is more difficult (almost impossible) to repair if you want to keep it waterproof. A suit without a laminated membrane can be repaired almost everywhere.

The membrane is separate with this jacket.

You mention that inner waterproof liner is destination piece, but did not show how it looks. I'd really like to see how good (or bad) it looks on it's own.

I totally agree with you this time, Chris. I don’t think laminates are that great. I’ve owned so much goretex (or equivalents) gear over the year because I’m a hiker. They all wet out after a while then it doesn’t breathe at all. Then you sweat like crazy. Even before it wets out, you can sweat a lot. So why not just wear a fully waterproof over jacket? I prefer fully porous fabrics (uncoated) most of the time and carry waterproofs in case of rain. I’d like to see a jacket using uncoated cordura 1000d in the chassis and double layered at the high risk zones with aramid. It’d be safer, softer but highly breathable. Perfect for the tropics.
RST adventure X has a liner/waterproof/windproof removable liner. But their waterproofing is pretty bad.

Good review, nice jacket. You're right that a liminated jacket is not the best option for offroad riding and I think, not the best option for riding in the summer. But I don't like a waterproof liner with a thermoliner combined. If you are riding in the summer when its warm but raining you dont want the thermoliner there but then you'll get even warmer, Therefore I prefer a waterproof liner and the thermoliner seperated.

Very nice jacket, and Halvarssons are a top brand. My 20-year-old Rukka R-Tech still works well, though.

Always a pleasure to hear (salesman of the year) The Chap in The Cap explaining the ins and outs of his gear.
Could you perhaps in future give an indication of the weight of a standard size jacket presented?

Hi Chris you didn't mentioned anything about the Outlast material of this jacket. On what areas is it used on the jacket? And most important does it work with cold and heat?

Sorted suit there Chrls, like an updated Gericke Tuareg, what about Klim's Traverse as an even more versatile overshell?
