There are two more factors I might add: 1) Blue will have comparably higher backgammon chances. Which will carry Blue to 5-0 instead of 4-0 lead. 2-away score is a huge factor I guess. In the next game an undoubled gammon can work for Blue for example. 2) If Blue gets hit worst case scenario in this case is most probably winning a single game. This will carry the score to 3-0 for blue. Being 4-away is a more efficient score I believe. A cubed gammon in the next game can work efficiently.
1:09:41 to me the most obvious reason of why to choose 6/5* 5/2 with that 31 roll over the contender 3/off 3/2 is because by putting one more on the bar blue is sensibly increasing his backgammon chances. (I wonder why I did not hear this argument since is the strongest one?) If backgammons would count only as gammons, the two choices would be very close in equity!
That was my first instinct as well.. only a 30.5% of getting hit with a 6 and 69.5% chance of completely crushing.. That 1 mistake may have cost him the entire match today.
I agree. I can elaborate like this: 1) Blue will have comparably higher backgammon chances. Which will carry Blue to 5-0 instead of 4-0 lead. 2-away score is a huge factor I guess. Are they playing in Turkey? :D Because there is a water bottle of a turkish brand on the table and at 1:03:10 I think I could hear the call to prayer (adhan) :D

Hearing Michy's analyse is very helpful for those of us who are average players trying to learn
Michy at the end: Did you get it?
Me: No, and neither did Dirk

Even if backgammons don't count, the best play wins more games and more gammons.

Great content, learning a lot. Nice commentary by Nick and Marc. Would love to see the 'luck' factor be included. Possible?

Love michy!
That move Michy showed is beautiful and makes sense when you see it, but I definitely didn't see it.
Sometimes it feels like the commentators are not seeing the same XG feed as the viewers. Anyone else notice that?
26:34 for example. There are dozens and dozens of others throughout the competition.
30:56 how is that too good to double??? I would have sent the cube without even thinking about it!
