If you wanna see some truly bizarre irony, read the comments on this trailer. Despite the fact that Brooke clearly states that having "perfect beauty" was something of a curse and that it "seared her" that she went through life hearing about nothing but her looks, most of the comments here are superficial judgments about her looks, either positive or negative. The reason this film needed to be made was to try to jolt people out of looking at women this way - as objects whose purpose is to visually please others. She's trying to announce to the world that she is a person and always has been. She was always in there and had feelings, and she was ignored. SHE was ignored. Her "prettiest woman in the world" avatar is what got all the attention.

I’m the same age as Brooke. I didn’t know that she had another side (because she never revealed anything else but her pretty face) until she posted her grades at Princeton. Smart gal.

It is really hard to say she was NOT beautiful. Her phenomenon was really due to her age. Her looks evolved but they were nothing like when she was young. It was hard not to stare at her.

Over the years I have always noticed that even when Brooke did "revealing" interviews about the past, she had a somewhat minimizing attitude about the exploitation she experienced growing up, and it really makes my heart happy to see that she has grown into the confidence to clearly see what she really did suffer and to tell the world, "Hey, I'm a PERSON." I hope that people will stop dehumanizing her and her image, past and present.

Just watched the 60 Minutes Australia interview with her. She drank the Hollywood kool-aid (my words not hers). In that interview she justifies her role in Pretty Baby as ART. It was the 1970s and everything was flipped upside down, she says. It seems she can't fully see the exploitation. And in her child interviews she's just repeating what her Mom and other adults told her to justify her gross exploitation. I'm in my 60s so I remember well when Pretty Baby came out and I thought it was messed up. I don't care what decade you talk about. There is no reasonable justification. The director, the writer were pervs. Her Mom didn't put Brooke first, didn't protect her. In this interview, at least Brooke says she was in denial.

Pretty Baby was deeply disturbing. Brooke keeps defending it saying it was an artistic film. It’s like she doesn’t want the director to bear any responsibility in promoting the horrible sexualization of children. The plot of the movie has dozens of men all in a contest to take her virginity. These men are portrayed as average Joes.

I also watched the 60 Minutes interview and was furious when she said she didn’t want to name her rapist as he “didn’t deserve the attention.” So he gets to remain in the dark. She could help other victims of this man but refuses to as she just wants to focus on “her journey.”

    • @gaeldamianakis1234

Save your anger for the rapist. Sexual assault survivors are blamed, shamed, dragged through the mud, receive no justice and then they’re supposed to risk their own safety to try to save others. Our society is so messed up, no-one has the right to judge sexual assault survivors when our society not only doesn’t offer consequences but then to add to that, scapegoats the survivors of their abuse.

Listening to Brooke speak as a child...I hear Terri prepping her to answer questions from adults. I 'unliked' her mother. I'm a decade older than Brooke and remember being concerned about the movies the mother made her act in...Art? Terri obviously exploited her beautiful daughter, without question. Both became enamored by Hollywood's fame and fortune, which could have put Brooke in even more harmful situations...but Brooke had no choice. Brooke had no one to actually protect her mentally and emotionally, even decades later she still protects her mother's choices. Thankfully Brooke appears to be a beautiful and strong woman, mother and wife.

Brooke must be grateful to the movie BLUE LAGOON. I saw it when I was a kid because of her beauty (I wanted to be her boyfriend- lol). But watching it today, I can say that it is one of the most beautiful and poetic romantic films ever made in cinema. If she wants to blame anyone, it's only her mother who allowed all of this. However, if her mother had not allowed it, the world would not have this beautiful piece of Art called Blue Lagoon.

From what the press has leaked about Brooke’s documentary (and book?), it seems she has lots of admiration for various men she dated in the past but I’d like to know more about the man she married and the father of her two daughters. Perhaps she does elaborate about him…… ?

Way to normalise the grooming of children or, at least, using them for the sexual self-gratification of those who wanted the movie made… and all the freaks getting off on it when they watch the movie! 🤢🤮

Intelligent & appears to be a lovely down to earth person! Sadly though, she was definitely 💯 exploited by her own mother and the demonic realm of Hollywood. So glad to see that she came out of that well adjusted considering her obstacles.

Her eldest daughter looks just like her and Brooke continues to be very very beautiful. I remember watching the Blue Lagoon as a little girl and being in absolute awe. There are no movies made like that today. Society is too rotten for that and everything is sexualized.

O.0 that is one bad example. Blue lagoon was sexualizing a 14 y.o. girl like crazy. Disgusting. I agree nowadays sexualization is still very bad, but at least the main characters in teen movies that involve controversial scenes are played by adults- which is a good thing.

You survived alot but it could have been so different. You were too young to be nude on TV 2x on blue lagoon. You were mimicking what was feed to you as the reason being nude at that age was 'art'. The whole time you had as a child with the Sultan of Brunai on his yacht, away from help if needed. That was creepy.

But that is also a thing...does she have talent??? Or is she one of those actors like Brad Pitt and George Cloney that really didn't have any acting talent but had a pretty face. They got an opportunity only because of the way they looked, learned on the job and now they are decent. But great?!...no.
