It seems wrong that Brooke’s mother wouldn’t accept child support from Brooke’s father but would get her money *through* Brooke instead. If she was too proud for alimony, I feel that she would have done well to get a job if she didn’t have one (no one ever says if her mother worked). It’s just kind of a tough pill to swallow that her mother had all this pride and yet had her daughter do all these exploitative things and at such a young age.

@m.cunningham9817. If Brooke Shields was given another chance to relive her life again then I'm sure she'd take the hollywood life than become a plain Jane nobody in a 9-5 job. Had it not been for her mother than she would never have made it big. I just wish people would stop comparing the 1970s to how things are today. Times were much different then. Watch her early interviews when she had turned 20. She was a very mature, grounded young lady with no signs of issues.

It can be difficult to admit your parent was dead wrong, because admitting that would cause an entire reality shift That would be dreadfully difficult and painful. “If mom’s not wrong then I can still think well of her”.. True healing comes when we see the truth for what it is… And then forgive. I’m thinking there are some emotional blocks that Brooke wants to leave in place and has therefore justified all the inappropriateness.

She took the money & bought a table that Brooke now has after searching for it after her mother’s death and had no luck until a woman read her book and the story behind it. This led the woman letting Brooke know that she had it and gave it to her. ya'll with the whole toxic positive crap and be kind all the time...no. just no. be kind yes, but be kind to yourself. Disassociating is not wrong nor bad when you have to disassociate from all the bs or toxic crap. There are plenty of people that wanna pretend their bs is truth and it is not. Parents and those that are managing a person or are making decisions on a person's life or health that is either quite young or vulnerable due to whatever reason and then abuse and take advantage of that are to be held accountable for all of their ways. That is not blame as much as it is simple accountability and with reality, meaning people do not get to discount the reality of racism and sexism and the ongoing superiority stuff of life no matter how "uncomfortable" it may be. They can heal...in their own time in their own ways. while those of us that have been "healing" or have been doing all we can to develop our own characters & own selves are the ones that continue to thrive. Seriously, be yourself. nourish that. people will hate you for it and then come back years later and pretend like they supported you. they did not. let them figure themselves out. Brooke Shields is a bad a$$ for speaking to what she lived through and its great because so few celebrated celebrities from the 80s and 90s are talking about how things were then and how that impacts what is happening now, in 2023-anywhere. For those of you too young to understand what I mean, there are SO MANY "celebrities" now but in the 80s and 90s it was very different because the internet was still being developed and people were not able to connect to one another in the ways we all do. Brava Brooke Shields. In reality there is this bs about how people are 'supposed' to be and how life actually is and the only reason there is so much trauma in the world is because people wanna pretend that what is supposed to be somehow outweighs the reality of how life actually is. Brooke Shields is showing up and putting a light on how things actually are. its making people take note because they can't seem to continue to speak lies to the truth and that is bada$$ truth telling that makes major change happen. Rooting for you Brooke! Rooting for any of you that will not pretend. that will continue to impose truth. ;)

brooke was a very beautiful young girl. however, i have to say this: "how can a mom possibly allow her daughter to be nude".......for all to watch. to me this is abuse. so sad.

As nice and normal of a person she is, NONE of her wealth and success as an actress would have gone to a normal looking woman. She should embrace that more...pretty has privileges that most hard working women will never enjoy

While I would agree for adults, this was a human who’s attractiveness as a child was exploited. She literally said in the doc “if I didn’t have this face”. If the only thing people cared about you was something you had no control over, you’d get tired of hearing about it.

Brooke is not attractive at all. Maybe she was a pretty child......but "pretty" is the word.
When she grew up.....She looks manly. Brooke looks like a man dressed as a woman. Straight up

@@tinasapienza6552 I agree with you. But as an adult, she had agency and was still afforded choices that normal looking people don't get. NONE of her success can be attributed to anything other than her looks...you'd be shocked how different her life would've been had she strictly used her Ivy League brains, and not her otherwordly beauty

@@TwasNeverThus2 Brooke is a good actress though, not just good looks, she had and has talent as an actress. She was also a smart and mature child, the way she interacted and responded to questions in interviews. She always did very well for herself in interviews. Calm and collected too. And yes, actors often do extra well partly because of their looks. That is the name of the game, nothing wrong there. And even in business, good looks (but not only) can often add an extra dimensions to achieving success.

Yes Brooke is still very beautiful but that's just the outside. I love how open she was about post partum depression. She has always been so honest and open and her beauty and success unfortunateky causes envy on the part of some people who then want to tear her down. But her positive outlook has triumphed over all of her adversaries. Alcoholic parents unfottunately turn their children into parents, turning the tables in an unfair way even when they don't mean to. Alanon has helped Brooke and so many other people including me.

Sad child hood. She never got the healthy loving support from her mother that every child needs. Glad Brooke didnt die from drug or alcoholism. So sad her mom refused child support from her dad. But used Brooke as her cash cow. And agreed to work her in exploitative films. Because they needed the money. 😢
