Her beauty is often the focus but she has a beautiful character and personality too
Very self-aware and intelligent as well.
@@TrishTruitt agreed.
Smart girl went to Princeton
@@rturney6376 a and then we've got the clothes you guys over there
She’s very smart too
It seems wrong that Brooke’s mother wouldn’t accept child support from Brooke’s father but would get her money *through* Brooke instead. If she was too proud for alimony, I feel that she would have done well to get a job if she didn’t have one (no one ever says if her mother worked). It’s just kind of a tough pill to swallow that her mother had all this pride and yet had her daughter do all these exploitative things and at such a young age.
Good point... I read Brooke's book and it seems that her mother worked briefly when she was younger but then focused on being Brooke's manager. Her father did pay for Brooke's education though (at her mother's request).
Oh golly. Really?
Very often single mothers, protect that way their children when they became famous. Otherwise, those fathers can ask for support later from their famous children.
@@mgparis that’s something, anyway. I know she went to a good college and am very happy to hear that her mother accepted financial support for that.
Right... She was able to take it from Brooke, bc she didn't see it as "Brooke's money," because she didn't even see Brooke as belonging to Brooke; she saw her as property that she owned... An investment of sorts. Sad.
Brooke! I’ve grown up with you, I’ve admired you… Your kindness, your strength… And Yes, I name my daughter after you! Thank you for being YOU! 🙏🏻❤️
Brooke, you gave us 80s magazine FACE. You made a huge impact on culture and beauty. We appreciate you💐💐💐
@m.cunningham9817. If Brooke Shields was given another chance to relive her life again then I'm sure she'd take the hollywood life than become a plain Jane nobody in a 9-5 job. Had it not been for her mother than she would never have made it big. I just wish people would stop comparing the 1970s to how things are today. Times were much different then. Watch her early interviews when she had turned 20. She was a very mature, grounded young lady with no signs of issues.
@Sara Mill Maybe it is meaningless. But life can also be meaningless too. Eventually everyone dies and eventually the solar system will expire. All things in life is meaningless if you really think about it
At what cost, though??? Geeeeez
One thing they said: how did she survive all that. Exactly. She must be a really really strong woman, I mean we read all the time about young star that hit success as kids and don't made it alive. Well done.
@sandradb9151. How do you mean how did she survive all that? She earnt herself 500,000 dollars aged 14 for appearing in a Calvin Kline ad advertising jeans which payed for house for both her and her mum. She should've had my childhood then she'd have something to cry about.
@@rachelbailey52 Money doesn’t fix trauma. Plenty of millionaires commit suicide.
@@rachelbailey52 you misunderstood the point. Shields means how did she survive all the crazy attention and pressure. Some people have gone mad facing less
@@newutopians She should've had my upbringing then she'd know what trauma was.
@sandradb9151 Yeah she must be really strong by having the opportunity to appear on the front cover of all those Hollywood magazines. Every young girls dream.
So many don't know how to interview Brooke Shields in a way that is different, or complementary to who she is. She's far more intelligent than most people she's interviewed by. Most of the questions are like gossip column stuff not new.
I really enjoyed the documentary! Hollywood is no joke. She survived that mess! And now has a beautiful family. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Imagine being so beautiful that it makes you miserable. Is really making me rethink how I perceive my own beauty.
Love you Hoda and Jenna. Brooke Shields is forever an aspiring inspiration, love this interview and bright orange suit. I have always loved Brooke’s personality, authenticity and sweet kind open heart. Not just a Pretty Baby and face. 🧡
Too bad they never let her finish a complete thought.
They never let anyone finish a complete thought 😫
@@chronicallykelly7193 Narcissistic I guess. What they think is more important than the guests…control…
Agreed. Terrible interviewers. How ironic, in a discussion about a woman finding her voice, the interviewers don't give her a chance to use it.
Will they let Brook Shields talk!
I just finished watching and it was well done!!
As a person with bushy straight eyebrows, I’m just glad she brought them into style and has kept them in style
Same
💯
I grew up watching this beautiful girl (same age as me) and going from being a tiny bit jealous of her beauty and worrying about her. Was so glad she went to Princeton, knew she would find something there to enhance her life. I actually adore her, she’s got humility, humor and is an All around good person. This doc just took me back in time and I relived all those moments with her. Interesting! I especially loved the dinner table scene with her cool and funny daughters - I think they get it from their mom ❤I have always hoped for the best for Brooke and hope she gets recognized for this amazing documentary.
An honourable diploma for art history that’s all
Brooke Shields has such a terrific personality!
Maybe Hoda and Jenna should just answer their own questions
Much more interested in what Brooke has to say than the hosts
U would had hated the view
Oh I remember watching how the adults in the room looked at her and described her made me cringe and I was a kid but a girl understands when there is something odd. So thankful she reached education and the success of Suddenly Susan etc. There are so many we lost. So much beauty and talent now on the brink of losing can find themselves and hopefully pick up something so they succeed out of child star to adulthood.
Brooke Shields has been So Resilient, Strong, and Courageous after enduring some very difficult moments of her young career, she is Definitely a Survivor
God’s Blessings to Brooke Shields and her family.
My ❤ goes out to Brooke
Excellent interview.
Very good documentary. Brooke is more than a pretty face. Very deep.
Just watched this and I think Brooke is still having a hard time getting it. She, to this day tries to defend her exploitation as a child. Listen to her conversation at the end with her daughters.
Brooke you Beautiful in and out and more Beautiful now as a grown pure woman of everyday soul that glows everyday woman and genuine soul. America's child beauty, The world's friend and lady.
She's so protective of her mother who allowed her exploitation
@@j.z.j.1559 I do blame her Mom. She doesn't
It would probably be very painful to come to the realization that your mother allowed you to pose nude for a playboy sister magazine at the age of 9. Might even make you bitter. She tries to rationalize it which might be a way to protect herself rather than her mother. If she were to focus on what her mother did, you could easily see where she might become bitter.
Life with alcoholics.....
@@j.z.j.1559 it's amazing she hasn't gone completely around the bend with the exploitation since childhood
Yes. All this PR she’s doing shows just how protective she is she f her creepy mother. Too bad the mother wasn’t more protective of her daughter.
Brooke shields a beautiful classy lady loved her documentary ❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦
I will always love Brooke Shields. They say beauty if only skin deep. She challenges that premise without even trying.
I'm commenting on the fashion choice(not just focusing on her physical beauty..we can all look good with the right fit, style and color of clothing!) The orange is a beautiful vibe. It is like a highlighter of this beautiful cause. Brooke Shields, I wish you all the very best🧡🧡🧡.
Jenna's fat roll is distracting me from Brooke's interview!!🥺
Suddenly awesome!💫💕
I like when Brooke acknowledge her mom had demons . I think we should not tolerate demonic behaviors and should break free from them
When her beauty and fame faded away she remembered that her life was centred around her look
I don't normally watch this show but I'm a contemporary of Brooke Shields, so I thought I'd watch.
I have to say, Hoda behaves as if Kathy Lee is still there and it's hilarious. The finishing of Jenna's sentences, not so great questions and additional commentary are priceless.
Love her attitude. ❤️
It can be difficult to admit your parent was dead wrong, because admitting that would cause an entire reality shift That would be dreadfully difficult and painful. “If mom’s not wrong then I can still think well of her”.. True healing comes when we see the truth for what it is… And then forgive. I’m thinking there are some emotional blocks that Brooke wants to leave in place and has therefore justified all the inappropriateness.
Finally a make-up artist that can put make up on Brooke's face properly and beautifully. Many times, in some interviews or other, it seems her make-up is really badly applied. It either makes her look harsher than she is, and/or older than she is. She looks really nice and fresh here.
She looks like a transsexual.
So true!
She was my idol back then, and I still admire her today! What a difference between her and Justine Bateman? What continual Self Care can do!❤ And without Botox..etc. She shows it's not necessary to resort to these invasive Cosmetic surgeries to look the best you can throughout the years!🫶👌👌👌
Are you kidding me? She's 100% botoxed in her forward. Overtime your eyebrows can lose their natural arch and become straight lines just like Brooke"s. But to have survived her toxic childhood, well done Brooke! I wish her well in this new chapter
Remarkable person !
How is Jenna still there?
What a strong, intelligent, admirable woman. Go Brook!!!
Brooke is charming, real, and interesting! Neat to hear what went on & her perspective.
Will jenna ever be replaced?
Where was her father?
He was a world champion tennis player that wasn’t interested in being a father and his father gave Brooke’s mom money to terminate the pregnancy. She took the money & bought a table that Brooke now has after searching for it after her mother’s death and had no luck until a woman read her book and the story behind it. This led the woman letting Brooke know that she had it and gave it to her. (I just watched her interview on You Tube prior to this when she told the story on a radio talk show while promoting her Sirius talk show.) I hope I got the basic details down but just look for the video and you can hear all of the details.
I am the exact same age as Brooke, and believe me, there were lots of ordinary people who did not, at the time, think “Pretty Baby” was art. I remember hearing about the film and struggling to comprehend how it could have been made.
Much love and Respect
Brooke I'm so glad you found you and women who are watching are so much more than beauty. You are amazing! Cannot wait to see you're documentary.
At 0:23, her body language screams "I have to smile but this man is making me feel uncomfortable". There's this internet meme where this young woman states "the person you are now is the person you needed as a child". She is the person she needed as a child.
Jackie Onassis was probably the most photographed but QE2 was photographed for decades.
Her mom messed her up with subconsciously.
The host points out that things have only really come to light with the horrible things going on in Hollywood and how child stars have been treated this is so untrue people have known for years and so many have turned a blind eye. Some of them who are involved are very high up and still working in hollywood.
I’m not sure that I could watch it. The scene when she’s sold like a slave in Pretty Baby was terrifying to me. Horrific. I loved this woman as a preteen. She’s strong for sure to survive that. It will take me awhile to watch the documentary though. It’s sad indeed. No wonder her girls were upset.
It was good!
Brooke wasn’t protected as she should been by her parent or parents. Brook is right when she said she ended up surviving it all. Some of the things she was involved in showed she was being sexualised as a child.
During the interview with her mother on Barbara Walters, when her mother said she was a work of art, a beautiful painting, the way she quickly turned her head and looked at her mother made it quite obvious that it made Brooke uncomfortable.😟
Poor Brooke. Amateur therapists trying to 'work her out'. Hoda is dreadful in this.
Totally agree.
Hoda barely let Brooke speak. She was very irritating.
aged like fine wine
I don't like the style of Jenna, her interacting style in this interview. She often has forced facial expressions and sometimes an exaggerated false tone of empathy. She tries to come off a certain way. She does not come off as really sincere. Her style of interviewing is kind of forced.
This definitely isn’t her forte!
Nepo baby
I made it 5:00 minutes in before I had to turn it off cuz I couldn’t take anymore of Jenna 🤦🏾♀️
Don't watch it if all you can do is criticise
I couldn't watch after a certain point either, with that ex-president's kid playing interviewer. Of all the talent out there, this is what we get. How about just let Hoda have her own show? She is much better at this.
I think we all should embrace our beauty and be confident in how we look today. I too was told all my life how pretty I was And I still hear it all the time. I'm 60. I love that I embrace age with great confidence while knowing I'm not 14 anymore. Life is so much more fun now, being pretty😊♥️
Brooke Sheilds so beautiful inside and out and she seems to have a normal sensibility. God bless her and her loved ones.
Like her
HAPPY 58 TH BIRTHDAY BROOKE SHIELDS !!!!
her best role was svu for me
Brooke is still very beautiful!
Brooke just keeps getting more beautiful as she ages. She looks a lot like Caitlyn Jenner, who is also a beautiful woman.
Whatever she says, the director of the movie “Pretty Baby”With 11 year old Brooke Shields. and the photographer who took the photo for Playboy magazine are completely sick!!!😢
I really want Brooke Shields to be cast in a modern day interpretation of Helen of Troy. Dang it! I wish I was a famous film writer or at least knew some, so I could tell them to get to work! Somebody! Steal this idea!
not one reporter that watched the doc mentions the fact her mother would leave Brooke to do her "job" and go hang in a bar while men took naked photos oh this CHILD!!!!!!!!!! Brook is still in denial of it. This whole doc is so sad.
She was a work of art right??? So the world should see it !! That's what her mom believed!!
@@meghan3713 sad and sick
A beautiful little girl and a lovely young lady but now has a hard look and just so so adult
It is incredible. Brooke is still a very nice girl, lady, women.
She is such a decent woman and she was exploited in childhood there is no redemption to it.
ya'll with the whole toxic positive crap and be kind all the time...no. just no. be kind yes, but be kind to yourself. Disassociating is not wrong nor bad when you have to disassociate from all the bs or toxic crap. There are plenty of people that wanna pretend their bs is truth and it is not. Parents and those that are managing a person or are making decisions on a person's life or health that is either quite young or vulnerable due to whatever reason and then abuse and take advantage of that are to be held accountable for all of their ways. That is not blame as much as it is simple accountability and with reality, meaning people do not get to discount the reality of racism and sexism and the ongoing superiority stuff of life no matter how "uncomfortable" it may be. They can heal...in their own time in their own ways. while those of us that have been "healing" or have been doing all we can to develop our own characters & own selves are the ones that continue to thrive. Seriously, be yourself. nourish that. people will hate you for it and then come back years later and pretend like they supported you. they did not. let them figure themselves out. Brooke Shields is a bad a$$ for speaking to what she lived through and its great because so few celebrated celebrities from the 80s and 90s are talking about how things were then and how that impacts what is happening now, in 2023-anywhere. For those of you too young to understand what I mean, there are SO MANY "celebrities" now but in the 80s and 90s it was very different because the internet was still being developed and people were not able to connect to one another in the ways we all do. Brava Brooke Shields. In reality there is this bs about how people are 'supposed' to be and how life actually is and the only reason there is so much trauma in the world is because people wanna pretend that what is supposed to be somehow outweighs the reality of how life actually is. Brooke Shields is showing up and putting a light on how things actually are. its making people take note because they can't seem to continue to speak lies to the truth and that is bada$$ truth telling that makes major change happen. Rooting for you Brooke! Rooting for any of you that will not pretend. that will continue to impose truth. ;)
I love how silly she is as an actress. God bless her ❤
Brooke Shields really a true warrior . She is a beautiful person outside and inside . Congratulations to be who you are . And by the way , you still being the most beautiful face on Earth
Geeze. A brain that's as beautiful as she is. Good job God. 😌
She and Bruce Jenner look related lol
brooke was a very beautiful young girl. however, i have to say this: "how can a mom possibly allow her daughter to be nude".......for all to watch. to me this is abuse. so sad.
I'm asking the same question. I don't get the purpose of this documentary at all!
As nice and normal of a person she is, NONE of her wealth and success as an actress would have gone to a normal looking woman. She should embrace that more...pretty has privileges that most hard working women will never enjoy
While I would agree for adults, this was a human who’s attractiveness as a child was exploited. She literally said in the doc “if I didn’t have this face”. If the only thing people cared about you was something you had no control over, you’d get tired of hearing about it.
Brooke is not attractive at all. Maybe she was a pretty child......but "pretty" is the word.
When she grew up.....She looks manly. Brooke looks like a man dressed as a woman. Straight up
@@tinasapienza6552 I agree with you. But as an adult, she had agency and was still afforded choices that normal looking people don't get. NONE of her success can be attributed to anything other than her looks...you'd be shocked how different her life would've been had she strictly used her Ivy League brains, and not her otherwordly beauty
@@TwasNeverThus2 Brooke is a good actress though, not just good looks, she had and has talent as an actress. She was also a smart and mature child, the way she interacted and responded to questions in interviews. She always did very well for herself in interviews. Calm and collected too. And yes, actors often do extra well partly because of their looks. That is the name of the game, nothing wrong there. And even in business, good looks (but not only) can often add an extra dimensions to achieving success.
I was thinking the same thing
Say his name.
Brooke is a WOMAN and a very beautiful and feminine one too! She looks nothing like a man in any way whatsoever. What are you, nuts?
Jenna - "Curdin?" FFS
It was the mother who caused this
Get rid of Hager. Hurl.
NBC has always been Bush family favorite media outlet. NBC loves them. Jenna only there because she is a Bush. Period. Hurl is right.
All babies are pretty, eh! 👹beauty...
This is a documentary for women as men will be bored to death. She is a nice person known in the restauarant business as lovely!
H&J are hypocritical to her because they know they do not like her past.
She denies that her mother was to blame.she knew everything that was done, all for money.!!!!
Yes Brooke is still very beautiful but that's just the outside. I love how open she was about post partum depression. She has always been so honest and open and her beauty and success unfortunateky causes envy on the part of some people who then want to tear her down. But her positive outlook has triumphed over all of her adversaries. Alcoholic parents unfottunately turn their children into parents, turning the tables in an unfair way even when they don't mean to. Alanon has helped Brooke and so many other people including me.
I hope they didn't pay alot for those fake looking tulip bunches😮
Does Brooke have a "man-face" ?
looks like Caitlyn Jenner
Yeah but let the Jackson family tell it especially Janet you manipulated Michael. Hmm
That's Brook Shields now? You can't tell me that she hasn't had plastic surgery. The eyes and her full round face are dead giveaways. Why? Oh why do they do this to themselves?
Sad child hood. She never got the healthy loving support from her mother that every child needs. Glad Brooke didnt die from drug or alcoholism. So sad her mom refused child support from her dad. But used Brooke as her cash cow. And agreed to work her in exploitative films. Because they needed the money. 😢
wjen they agree to things do not complaim

nobody needs to hear her intimacy with men, that is gross.
