Matthew McConaughey: Love Hard
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 авг 2021
- Matthew McConaughey (Dazed and Confused, Dallas Buyers Club, Greenlights author) takes us on an electrifying journey through his intriguing life, from his intense childhood in which his parents divorced and remarried each other three times, to surviving off a head of lettuce with ketchup in Australia, to his current ambitions considering a run for political office. Matthew details his life-changing quests sparked by having the same wet dream twice and how he puts himself in positions to receive divine, prophetic messages from the universe. He explains why his dad was proud of him for getting into a bar fight, why he cries during births and not deaths, and why his son creates Powerpoint presentations to illustrate why Matthew is wrong. Mayim and Matthew discuss parenthood, and Matthew opens up about the sense of immortality he felt at the birth of his first child. Mayim breaks down binding anxiety and the science behind having gratitude.

As a person who works in a library I have to say that Mayim's interview with Matthew about his book was a really good book review that gave just enough information to make me want to read it. This is an art.
I don't listen to too many podcasts, but I discovered this recently and I've been binging it. I can't get enough.
Mayim is so smart and knows her stuff. She's amazing!
Agreed.
Ditto✨❣️
Highly addictive and informative love The Breakdown🥰
I’ve seen several interviews with Matthew while he was promoting the book. This one was by far the best. You asked better questions and had a really engaging conversation. He’s pretty charming and all, Mayim you definitely had it goin on too. I’m from Texas, so I dropped a g.
Great great interview. Good vibes! Very good questions and very good answers. He is Amazing and yes he really has an AIR around him . Very strong charisma! Thank you for this interview from Iyaly🙂

Mayim This is Terry Simmers. I know it has been a while. But I was the Lady who saw you all the time when you came into Sheri's restruant in Laramie, Wyoming to visit your girl friend. Miss you Lady. Love Terri Simmers.
I read his book Green Light and loved it!
Beautiful between 2 people connecting from a higher power!!🙏💪🌹
About intuition. My Dad's job had my folks moving to a different state while in their 50s, away from the small midwest town we all grew up in. After an early retirement, they moved back and were looking for a house. They found one, and put down the deposit, but it wasn't in "our" small town, but about 50 miles away, more house for the money. Prior to closing, my mom told my dad she didn't know why, but didn't have a good feeling about the house, and his response was, I've always trusted your intuition, and they forfeited their deposit, and bought a home "in town" closer to friends and family. A couple years later, my mom lost Dad and Grandpa the same year. Such a blessing we had her near us, that she was surrounded by friends and family, and not 50 miles away. Such a blessing to have had my Dad's complete trust regarding her intuition, vs losing money in a deposit. That voice you hear isn't your own, and my parents were a great example to all of us that knew and loved them.
Mayim is awesome.
Matthew got interviewed by Mayim and she brought out the best of Him.
Mayim is so underrated as someone who has watched her in various things
and she has gain my respect as human as a women. Well Done Mayim!!
Matthew thanks for sharing with us.
I agree Mayim is awesome, and Jonathan is too.
I watched some of your Kelly Clarkson stuff before this. If you are having a doubting moment of self - I urge you to watch this and I dare you to deny your impact on people. You truly are an amazing person and I am a new awe-struck fan of yours. Authenticity is the hardest thing to accomplish in life and you do it so effortlessly. I look forward to learning how to become more so myself by watching you. I mean, you made him blush. HIM. C'mon!! ~ Penny Gail ~ Be Kind. I Insist. ~
I have the attention span of a 2 year old but managed to watch this whole interview. You're a very good host!
As a teacher and a parent, I know that one constant in my life was the awareness of consequence. When I taught 8th grade, this signage was above my smart board: You are free to choose. You are NOT free of the consequences of your choices. .... this led to many very excellent and insightful discussions.
Kathleen Kulp, you make me regret retiring from teaching. That is actually so beautiful.
Fantastic episode! On a side note, if they ever remake The Princess Bride and Johnathan and Mayim aren't at least asked to play Miracle Max and his wife, the world will really make no sense.
Matthew McConaughey was an unexpected guest! While most of these episodes have focused on the more negative impacts of mental health, and how each guest has navigated those challenges within their own lives, this one covered something equally important. Appreciating the value of your life, your personal journey, and being grateful for everything you've experienced along the way to get to the 'you' you are now. Matthew speaks so eloquently about this, and for me atleast, is the individual that always comes to mind when I think about this sort of thing. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and see Mayim? People DO want to talk to you!
Her focus is mental health issues etc. hence the title of the series…
The teaching he got from his father about intimacy is the best way to teach that subject. It is interesting for me to see how someone who could be so inappropriately hostile about some things be so damn perfect about something else. Especially something so important.
The best interview with him I’ve ever seen. You have an honest way of allowing others to open up, be honest, and enjoy the process. You two are a great team of interviewers in these podcasts. 💗
Spent an entire day on the patio at my local library listening to the audio book "Greenlight"... take'n notes. Matthew's resilience through family trauma has been encouraging and empowering for me... my childhood was extremely toxic... he gives me hope for reframing my memories of my own experiences. Thanks, Matt... oops, sorry... Thanks, "Matthew"!
Mayim, you and Matthew got along great. Y'all just seemed like friends shooting the breeze. I don't think I have ever seen him that loose and relaxed during an interview.
I love your intelligence, expertise in psych, and your confident self!
You rock lady and I ENJOYED this interview differently than the many many others he's done about his book...
You really killed it!
Thank you!
It's so interesting to watch an hour long interview with a Hollywood star. There's no script or commercial breaks, aside from the sponsors.
I was thinking the same. Like I wouldn't want one of the television networks to see this and offer Mayim a show. I would rather for this podcast to REALLY blow up and Mayim profits that way and does the podcast how she already is.
Wow, this podcast is getting bigger and bigger.
Congratulations Mayim and Jonathan.
Love from Spain.
💛🧡❤
Greetings to Galiza from Catalonia!
I see that this interview is two years old, but I just watched it. Based on this interview, I got Mathew’s book from the library. His parents were so horrible and then his experience in Australia, which he called a “prank”, so sickened me that I had to throw the book down and go outdoors and walk around in the fresh air for a while to dispel the images in my head. Bless his heart, he imagines that his family loved each other. I’m happy for him he’s able to do that, when his parents were obviously so mentally ill. I definitely will not finish reading the book.
I love being different and appreciate being an original, always have, even as a lonely child. I was always happy being simply me and staying me! 😎
Having my son was also the most spiritual experience for me. Especially because I almost died while giving birth, I had both life and death in me at the same time and that incredible physical pain. It felt like the vail of the physical and metaphysical lifted. I felt like I was in a totally different space and not in this world.
“There you go, congratulations” - I cry at creation and not during death memorials as well for the same reason. Thanks for communicating this point of view.
As a Texan please Matthew, please run for governor!! We need new thinking
GRATITUDE in fmri - can we go an hour on that, alone? This is one of the BIGGEST tools I use in my work! People's lives changed JUST from simple active gratitude practices!!! LOVE that!
Mayim, you and Jonathan have so much chemistry on this podcast. You really balance each other out nicely. I love listening to you.
To me, the forever unique ‘word of the day’ (btw, today it wasn’t..) or the new header phrase of the podcast was said by Mayim here today. In caps: “ALL OUR LIVES ARE A JOURNEY OF MENTAL HEALTH”👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
And I must add that at some moments of this terrific episode (glad to be in Europe watching it early morning) the Sounds of Silence lyrics “..the words of the prophets are written in the subway walls..” came to my mind. But no, no “neon god” here but a brave man: Matthew!
Watching Mayim fangirling for him as some do for her..and adding Jonathan saying “All right, all right, all right”, guys, THIS is A MUST!! Thank you Mayim & Jonathan for this podcast. The one and only that got me attached to! Forever my GRATITUDE!
This was one of the best interviews I’ve seen Matthew do around this book! Seriously. So funny and sincere. Kudos!
As someone who also had a “dramatic” childhood and is having kids soon, I truly enjoyed this discussion. Great episode!
I loved this podcast. Matthew is so real. I find that refreshing from someone as famous as him.
i JUST love HIS VOICE, TO NO END....
Love, love, love this interview! As a 7th-generation Texan living just north of Austin (lived there 20 years), we definitely claim MM as one of our own. And as a proper footy fan, love that he’s a part owner of the Austin FC! I’ve heard of his book, but now it sounds like I’m gonna have to pick it up. Oh, darn. 😉 😂
Y’all acting like being a “7th generation Texan” is a thing you mean 7th generation American maybe 🤣💀
@@dirtyskank2147 not remotely. Couldn’t care less about the other 49 in general. I like people in specific, but I will only ever claim Texas as citizenship. That’s just being a Texan. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s just a TX thing!
Great episode and love the discussion about parents doing the best they can while also recognizing trama and wanting to do things differently. I like the discussion between you and Jonathan at the end too!! Great takeaways.
Oh Jonathan, when speaking of Matthew being prophet like, and Jonathan says, he has the hair for it, Lol!! You killed it!
OMG? WHAT? Something with Matthew McConaughey, I know I will love it!!!
One of your best interviews ever, Mayim. Good job getting Matt, Heather!
"Conditioned with fear" just resonated so hard with me!
I also have tried to raise my children differently, but i appreciate what you are saying about not demonizing our parents (in this case - there is no excuse for ab-se.)
I saw that Matthew was a guest as I was scrolling & I said to myself oh that’s very cool but also thought I’ve seen many of his interviews ehh let me see something else but ended up clicking anyway & I’m so glad I did. Mayim you have such a beautiful & innate way of connecting with people & ask such insightful questions that bring about such natural conversations that are just genuinely seeking a deeper understanding of the other person. Very few people walk through life consistently that way & I feel such a connection to that. I’m only half way into the interview & I’m absolutely hooked & happy. Sending so much love & gratitude ❤
Mayim, I started watching your podcast initially because YOU WERE BLOSSOM!!! Every one of your episodes is just phenomenal. Thank you for this!!!
Me too. I remember when she was cast as Annie, I thought "what a beautiful child and sooo much talent" and I am so happy to see Mayim's grown up to be the amazing person she is! About Matthew, I'm a fan, have been for a long long time, and my gut instinct about him was right on target -- I love the work he's doing with his foundation - it will have such an impact on those peoples' lives. Kudos!
By far my favourite podcast yet I loved it , I’m loving the chemistry between Mayim and Matthew they are so alike both very funny , I agree with you Mayim you definitely make him laugh more than woody 😃 awesome episode, Mayim love you 💕😘 xxx
Similar era!
When Matthew said "conditioned with fear" it triggered me so much. I had to stop the vid for a while. I'm still shaking a little. But his story is amazing.
Matthew is charming, self-possessed, confident and kindhearted. What a great human being !!! ♥♥♥
I'm grateful for your matching outfits, Mayim and Jonathan :-D
I LOVE IT! Parents do the BEST they can. Thank You Matthew. Corn is NOT a vegetable it is a grain. Mixed vegetables in a bag at the store, what a falsity, when their is a GRAIN in it.
Actually the definition of vegetable is culinary not biological. Corn is a grain that we use in a way that makes it a vegetable, just like squash/tomatoes/avocados are all biologically fruits but are also classified as veggies in a culinary sense.
I'm 53, and for me after raising 2 daughters who are now 22 and 28 years old... nature is so much more a feature that the environment. I was lucky to be Born 4th in 5 children (four girls and a brother born 2 1/2 years after me. I saw my sisters have kids and some of them thought they had the right 'recipe' for how to bring children up 'right'... I also observed that they were in fact not 'right' as there isn't a right. Every child is unique and it's how they come into the world that makes them who they are and get to where they get to. Thanks for sharing this interview.
He's confident not arrogant! That's what's great about Matthew!
That was so enlightening! I have not read his book but was tempted to before watching this and now I just know I need to own it. Well because I like the way he looks at things from a different perspective and I really enjoy when you can see celebrities in a different light than the one that constantly shines on them. And as for you, Mayim, I just love what you have to share, thank you. You've encouraged me to start my own journey of a "letter of gratitude a day", and I think I'll start a fish bowl of names and just pick one out daily. ;) ... and yes, even my cat, Grace, will be who I will write a letter to because she gives me more love than I could ask for. And yes, she's seated right next to me now. :)
Definitely read the book. I read it last October and it is life changing.
Loved, loved, loved this podcast and y'all's conversation afterwards! Thanks to you both and to your special guest today, Matthew. What a great all around guy. ✌🏼
This was my first viewing of your podcast on RUclips. I’m a regular listener of the audio version. Loved it.
with mathew you surely have hit a new high .......
I love watching you on RUclips. Dazed and Confused is one of my most favorite movies. If I heard correctly this was Matthew Mcconaughey's first movie and "alright alright alright" was ad libbed. Even so its an awesome movie and he is an awesome actor. He's also in "Reign of Fire" another awesome movie. So many the list could go on. I love that we are both from Texas
Also Ms. Mayim I have loved you since I saw you in Beaches with Barbara Hershey. I like listening to you and Jonathan are so funny and open with each other
Great show Ty❤❤❤
He is what Awakening is, at its best. He is the Adventure and it's Journey ,embracing All life, with truth, with Love.
He applauds individuals at their best and at their worse, holding them close, no judgement, just a smile and pure honest Love.
The strength we perceive or call an American man, has nothing to do with being American, other than the ego people label him with of the western strength, state, John Wayne, the Marlboro man. What he represents is beyond a state, it is Worldwide, Universal, realms of going beyond realms to embrace Love, be love and light the way with Love. A human being, humanitarian, love and light of truth one connection God's Love is his hearts Spirit his connection as a human being recognizing, the power of that we are all "One Love" and opening his arms and heart to share life, in pure simple Love to all he crosses paths with and beyond..This is the angle of the man we see, so pure and not afraid to be of warmth and kindness, inspiring Love.💯✌️🙏❤🕯️🎈🌻😊
I came across your program accidentally. I’ve only heard 2 episodes, but have been fascinated with your show, especially the one with Matthew M., what a hunk! He seems such a down to earth thoughtful person. If he ever does get into politics I’ll this interview in mind as the “real Matthew”. Our way of politics seems to force people to change. I really was grateful for the chance to hear him out. On a emotional level, what a hunk💕.
Just found this podcast. Instantly subscribed!!!
I am so happy I found your podcast, makes me smile and rethink life.😊
His book is well worth a read or my preference listen. He is so inspiring and positive.!
I am grateful for YOU TWO! And all the amazing guests I get to "'e-meet' through your conversations. Honestly one of the best podcasts out there. Thank you - all the way from Poland. A lot of the things you talk about Mayim - relating to your Hungarian heritage - it resonates, and hits close to home so to speak.
Wow! Matthew McConaughey! I love and appreciate the podcast....1 because we get to hear what a person is thinking and feeling and has gone through in which ever way they chose to define it. Its their story to tell and its their truth. i love it! Thank you for being weirded out by him though u say you didn't know him very well. I love people and all their stories they wish to be open about cause it just reassures me that we are ALL HUMAN and we are allowed to have thoughts and opinions and ITS OKAY to. Thanks Mayam for being YOU! God bless u!
I love him so much! Book was fantastic! I got the audio version thru the library - listening to him recount all of these stories was amazing. PS - his last name is spelled wrong in the graphic on the thumbnail. Thanks Mayim and Jonathan - I look forward to your podcast weekly!
That's good to know! I recently learned of getting audibles through the library for free 🤗
I use the Libby app. It’s great!
I agree with Mayim Bialik when she says all actors/actresses are just people, just like anybody else, but they got lucky and have high confidence in themselves (which everyone should have). Matthew sounds like a great guy, sounds like he's been thru a lot, and I love the Title 1 school thing he thought up and implemented. It's great when Mayim gets along really well with her guests, which happens all the time, but in this interview with Matthew, it's like they have inside jokes/inside knowledge that the rest of us didn't have. It's cute but it tends to keep everyone else on the outside. Also, it's probably just me but I like when they go chronological through the person's life, and not jump around so much, like they did here. Where was he born? How many siblings did he have, and did he get along with them? Where did he grow up? What exactly happened that he had to live with other families and how did that come about? Was he in school plays? How did he get into the "business"...did he do tv ads as a kid? Did he model? Why did he want to be an actor as opposed to anything else? What happened that he thought he had to fight someone who made fun of his dad? How did he meet his wife, and how many kids does he have? How did he get the roles he got in the movies he did...how did he chose them, or they chose him? Why did he do the Lincoln car ads, when he's never done ads as an adult before...did they just throw an insane amount of money at him, or did he always just had a fondness for Lincolns? Did he need the money for some reason (acting jobs dried up as he got older) or just thought it was a fun idea or was he just doing a favor for a friend? How did he get associated with the phrase "Alright, Alright, Alright"? Great actor and good interview tho. Love to see Mayim having so much fun.
Yeah, I don’t know what they’re talking about much of the time. I have no idea what the story about living with the “call me mom and dad” family means. Were they in Australia? Did they do something? Why was he there? What was the wild shit that happened? Then the bar fight. What was that about. I’m going to bail because I don’t know what’s happening. The assumption seems to be that everyone has read his book, but I didn’t even know he’d written one.
@@IvyRoad the part about "call me mum and dad" was about the family he lived with in Australia. I do agree that they got into topics fairly quickly, which was a little jarring, but it's probably in the book.
The "Alright, alright, alright" is a line from one of his films, "Dazed and Confused", and the Lincoln car ads are from when he did a film called "The Lincoln Lawyer".
@@kendallstark4302 Yeah, I got that, but I have no idea why he was in Australia, or what they did that was "the wild shit that happened". I'm ok with that. I moved on.
Recently I was told I was “not like everyone else”. I said thank you. The person replied they had not meant it as a compliment. I again said thank you. They gave up. Yippee!😊
Yeiiiiii! You go! People seem to think that not being like everyone else it’s bad but you know it’s the best thing can ever happen to a being! Keep on doing you.
probably a narc....st
not you, but the person who said that about you...
Same here 😂
I'm grateful for this podcast, and I've learned so much this year. It's inspired to get help. Getting help hasn't been easy, but I know things will get better.
I really loved this episode. I loved the conversation amd the chemistry between all 3 of you. I REALLY hope he comes back to your podcast someday. This was very enjoyable. As well as all your other guests. Much Love and Respect to you and your partner.
I love that I learned something and I was entertained. This reminds me of great classes with amazing professors in University. I'm grateful for this podcast. Thanks!
this is the first time I have heard about binding anxiety...going to recommend this podcast to a friend...
I'm grateful for this podcast too. Mayim and Jonathan, you do great work.
Best interview I've seen with Mr. McConaughey. Thanks, Mayim!
That part about not telling is so perfect!!!! It's my intention now. Thank you. The whole thing was great! Thank you!

I have been enjoying all your interviews , it's such a relaxed YT show.
He's from a town 45 minutes from where I'm from, CS, TX. I've always loved him!!
Such a great conversation. Definitely the best I’ve heard from Matthews’s book tour interviews. Great job Mayim!
Matthews book was incredible.
I have soo much respect for classy, honest, down to Earth people. Wonderful Interview...
Mayim, that interview was excellent! Awesome! 😄
I’m grateful for finding this channel!!
Love Mayim and Jonathan already but add Matthew McConaughey and I may just be hitting repeat on this video all day, I adored this more then any other podcast, so much love ❤️, love the parenting talk and everything else.
Loved the “alright, alright, alright” opening line lol
I LOVED this interview! You've had a lot of great guests but this was one of the BEST!
I too had a dream where years later I was struck with the realization that where I now lived in a new city was the place in my dream. I love synchronicities like that and it fascinates me. Was it retrocognition or premonition?
I "found" you today and I'm so happy that I did! M.M. is an amazing actor, but I wouldn't seek out a podcast or interview that he is featured in, but I really enjoyed this. This was the 3rd interview of yours that I listened to today and I have really enjoyed them all. Your questions are very insightful, and I really enjoy your outlook and sense of humor!
Congrats y'all, best interview with Mathew I've seen yet. You deserve to be proud of yourself. Love that man's spirit.
He was a great guest and not at all afraid to share personal stories. I wish him luck with his political ambitions.
Girl you are super smart. You are the right person for this kind of podcast.
How I ❤️ Mayim explaining the neuroscience behind GRATITUDE. You’ll never know the good this part did to me! 💜As Jonathan, I’m very grateful too for the opportunity to learn tools that this amazing podcast gives me. Hugs from Barcelona! 💜💛💚
I love Matthew can't wait to read his book I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet 💙💙😀
I like this southern quote about human nature. No judgement, just evocative observation. Great quote. Also “we have 18 years to set you up to negotiate life.” 50:43
Everything about this was just amazing! So proud of you guys and for you! Good job guys!
Alright, alright, alright… I was right on the Instagram poll and I’m early here… I’m killing it!
Love this episode! I listened to the audiobook version of Greenlights last year. His voice ♥
I am grateful for finding this podcast honest conversations about mental health are important
Beginnings and glimpses of the goodness of the human experience sparks emotion.
💗What a great interview Mayim!! Thank you for diving into intuition a bit. There is so much noise going on day to day, that we completely forget to tune into our own lives. This reason alone is why I come to your podcast sister!!
i'm currently 4 chapters into this book.. it's so damned good!!! he's an amazing philosopher and prophetic thinker.. Love the guy!
I am grateful for you & your team. Thank you.

Another great video I watched the entire way through. Thank you for doing these authentic videos/podcasts.
I'm grateful that all of this exists.
I'm grateful that I have found this channel to listen to you guys I have gotten so much out of it thank you and God bless
Great interview...loved the Greenlights book just finished it Matthews journey although individual had enough we can relate to and understand who grew up through those years when discipline was different..and finding a spiritual path since by practicing awareness...grateful for this one
Mr. McConaughey's book was surprisingly insightful and spiritual for me. I felt like I needed to take notes while listeningto the audio version. I marvel at the positivity that he exudes. I don't know that I would be so well adjusted if I had experienced a similar upbringing. If you haven't read it, give it a try. It's the most original biography I ever read/listened to.
OMG What a great connection. You did an awesome job on this one. You were exuding confidence and Matthew was so generous with his answers. Loved it.
