  • A study on the photoelectric effect was carried out in 1887 by German physicist Heinrich Rudolf Hertz. Albert Einstein, a physicist, provided a thorough explanation of the phenomenon, earning him the Nobel Prize in 1921.
When a certain frequency of light exceeds the metal's threshold frequency, it releases electrons, advances, and then produces current. The photoelectric effect is the name given to the process whereby electrons are ejected from metal surfaces when a specific frequency of light strikes them, producing electricity.
