I was also experiencing burnout Brandon and like you my only talent is to work hard. Your first year recap really brought me out of it! So thank you for these very helpful videos!
I just got admitted to u of t!! THANKS SM THIS HELPED!! I do the same studying methods of copying my notes again and I am now going to try to switch my methods to prepare for university.
@@brandonnnyu Thank you so much! Another thing, where can I find the practice tests/exams if my future professor does not provide them and were you able to have fun and go out on weekends as a UofT student? A lot of people tell me that UofT profs torture their students and you never have time to have a social life or have a good university experience, is this true?
Did you make any form of notes?? Could you share your note-taking tips/strategies? I made extremely lengthy notes in hs and I really want a more effective method. Great video :)
hi! i’m a first year and i’m struggling to figure out if i should hand write or type my notes. typing is helpful because it’s faster and is better for searching for things later but i feel like i retain more info by hand writing. any tips?
I think you spoke at my high school's biology class as an alumni. I don't want to "expose" you publically so I'll just leave it at that, but I believe my teacher called you "the cream of the crop." So if you don't mind me asking, what was your grade 12 average? Because I know people rave about the wonders of studying effectively, but honestly I just think you've always been smart. My studying isn't perfect but I try my best and use effective methods, however, my grades aren't there. At first I bought into the idea that if you study right you can achieve any goal, especially during the pandemic with grade inflation, but now I know that people are simply smarter than others and that I can never get close to other people's grades even though all I do is try. I don't think anyone should buy into the idea that "anything is possible," especially at a university like uoft.
lool thank you for that haha but I don't think your teacher was referring to my grades. i got low 80s in all stem courses (bio, chem, physics, maths) but my average was pulled up with my two electives which i got high 90s on. I'm sure if you have study strategies that work for you, anything is possible. my university average is higher than my highschool average, which came from a change in study habits and techniques :) good luck with everything and don't be too hard on yourself!
Hello, I have been accepted to u of t for fall 2022. How can I start to study from now to be prepared for fall? I mean where can I find text books and stuff? Thank you in advance
@@anahitachitizadeh2445 you can search "course name syllabus" on google (ie. BIOA01 syllabus). if you're unsure what the course codes are, google your program name and you can find the courses there.
Thanks for the video. However, if there is no past paper, no practice problem set, no tutorial question and lecture note, what would you do? I actually took a course at UofT without any study material.
@@brandonnnyu I have taken at course, at UofT, in which no lecture note, no tutorial question, no practice question is provided. There is a recommended textbook with end-of-chapter questions. But there is no solution to those questions. So there is no way to practise test-taking skills and check my own understanding. Have you been in such a situation before? Do you have any suggestion? Thanks.

Yeah all the time! I always found myself in the Math centre when I was doing first year calc and it helped me a lot :)
This was super helpful, thank you!
Do you have any time management tips for a first-year student at UofT?

What do you think about the UofT recommend study advice (2-3 hours per hour spent in lecture?)
Can u do a video on neuroscience and what you plan to do after neuroscience
