I don't understand why anyone one would want to keep an Engagement Ring from a man they're not going to marry!?? If she was so eager to get rid of it because it upset her emotionally - especially when she couldn't even bear the thought that another woman would be wearing it (which they will now since she sold it!) you'd throw it away first! I would not keep a Ring from a man that no longer wanted to marry me - period! Women who do this gets us a bad name... I'm so glad that Judge Judy changed her mind about this. We are the first to moan when a man is unfair to us; why should it be okay the other way round...
Looked like the guy wanted to argue about the amount Judge Judy awarded him. Probably the other $700. Neither of them was a prize. They both definitely thought highly of themselves.
I don’t understand the logic here… jj keeps emphasizing on the fact that she sold the ring for less than what he paid but then turns around and awards him LESS money than what he paid. I don’t know jack ish about jewelry but am I wrong to think you’re not going to get the same value for something you paid that is now used?
The defendant had COVID and pneumonia in 2021. She spent time in the hospital including 4 days in the ICU. There is a current gofundme campaign for her because her health is poor.
I don't like this judgment. So here's the thing. She gave him $5000. He cashed the $5000. At no point did he say to her that $5000 wasn't good enough and he wanted more. And in fact, even after that he stayed with her for another year. If he wanted the $2700 then why didn't he say anything to her? Furthermore, let's say they were in court for the ring that he gave to her but she never gave him the $5000. Judge Judy is only allowed to give $5000. If the defendant hadn't given him the $5000 cheque, she would only owe him $5000 as per Judge Judy's rules. So why does she now have to pay more than what Judge Judy would be allowed to make a judgment for? If I were the defendant, I'd appeal this ruling. It's been more than 2 years, she's already paid him $5000, and it was a gift. You can't make a person pay for a gift because there's no mention of paying him back at any time. He doesn't get to change his mind 2 years later because things didn't work out.

Because she's a nasty, attitude-having bleeder. Next question.
Don't flatter her with kind words and compliments, Judge Judy. That greedy thing will get worse.
"He spent $7700. So if you sold a ring he paid 100% of, why should you get any of that?"
"(Her brain struggles to come up with an excuse...) Because heeee..... hurt me! He ended our relationship."
She's in the engagement business 😊 💍
the entitlement to a ring that she barely had because the guy called it off is crazy! She definitely got big bucks for it if she was able to give him $5000 and her boss $1000. Probably made $20,000 on it.
It's been quite a roller coaster ride, but I've grown and learned a lot about myself. The greatest thing is being able to interact with fans and touch people's lives... for that I give thanks
Plaintiff shoulda got the whole $2,700!
The plaintiff still lost $700.
An engagement ring is not a gift, lol. I think someone in the jewellery business would sell a 10k ring for 10k not 7,7k.
The audience said something between the lines of 😒 and 😮💨
Gold digger. Good riddance.
Judge Judy was wrong on this one she should have demanded receipts.
Why didn't he get $2700?
The defendant had COVID and pneumonia in 2021. She spent time in the hospital including 4 days in the ICU. There is a current gofundme campaign for her because her health is poor.
She probably didn't believe COVID would dare to infect her.
@ hehehehehe!
Woman is a liar. Glad. He is rid of her. Should get all his money back. Men if you see this woman. Run.
Defendant looks like the type of woman you might see on Forensic Files, accused of murdering her third husband but claiming she's innocent.
If anyone would get played for any breakup hill there would be alot of rich ppl out there
I have only bought one engagement ring in my lifetime, which broke when I tried to remove the gumball. Took that as a sign and cancelled the wedding plans. 😇
how tragic for you.
@@theunconventionalnigerian Wrong, again. Finding a like-minded partner is all it takes. Too busy counting divorces of friends & family to be bothered with nuptials.
@@acousticshadow4032 whewww that’s a better (bc logic) response than “a fairy told me it was wrong bc the engagement ring was badly made”.
cheers to a happy life for you and the people you care about. 🌼
I wonder how many people have regretted marrying her since 1994
Let's go to the Ann Landers Memorial Scoreboard!
"He hurt me" is not a legal defense. I have to say it's nice that she gave him $5.000 - she could've just kept and let him to take her to court - but really, she should've given him the ring back. But I'll be the first to say that I don't know how it works; does it matter who initiated the break-up? Is there any truth to what she said, that since he broke up with her, she could keep the ring?
no, that's bullshit. Engagement off, he gets the ring back. Should be common knowledge by now.
She's a gold digger and tried to even swindle JJ. 🤨
AVP 👽
....I am ... motioning to requetion / the interaganets /..... Give me a second /.
Stop spoiling your kids!!
I find them both offensive 🎉
Though I agree with JJ on the fact that he accepted payment with that $5K, whoever ends the relationship forfeits the ring. I’m sorry but he ended it she keeps it. If she would’ve ended it, it goes back to him. Whoever breaks the commitment should not get the ring imo 🤷🏻♀️
‘imo’ is not a legal term.
@ I’m not an atty so 🤔 I didn’t realize the comment section was solely for legal purposes 😄
Gold Digger
Is this king Solomon's judgment?. Judge Judy is as close as they come.
She should've given back the ring but a second hand ring isn't going to bring the same price as retail. That's simple knowledge. Judy is kinda slow on some subjects.. you can tell she only buys new Ave never bought second hand to save a buck lol. Plaintiff wasn't thinking about that money while lay down dancing either. Nothing worse than a man being petty
@1814motion - lay down dancing... Best description I've ever heard😂😂😂
I SAID FIRST!!!!!!!
firrrrrrst
Hopefully, since this, she's been in many relationships where she's "fallen on a doorknob" more than once.
And Judge Judy screws him over with the 2000.00 award 😮
She’s expects him to pay for business contacts?
Ann Landers. Hint from elouse. Dear Abbey, I miss that stuff from the newspaper 🗞️
