If only I could figure out how these machines work. I wanna make my own deep drawing transfer press...most of the machines are just too big for the work area I have in mind.

What do you mean how they work?

@@MicahMade I mean the method of transfering between the different dies. Its the one thing I just cannot wrap my head around. For some of the more modern machines I know they use robotic arms. Others use mechanical means but I dont understand the mechanical method of transfer.

@@kingdarkem yeah I’ve pretty much only have seen arms that’s a good question

@@MicahMade yeah but no one seems to have the answer. I know back in ww2 there were no robotic arms for transfering and yet had similar transfer presses. Have yet to find the manuals the old machines. I know Winchester had a few manuals from Franklin armory on setting up one of them old ww2 presses and how they work but can't find them.

These aren’t machines you just fabricate in your garage during your spare time. People spend many years learning how these machines work and how to work them. It’s not hobby stuff. You need to be an engineer and a master toolmaker.
While CNC aspects have been integrated over the years, these machines are mostly mechanical. The simpler transfer slides have tool holders which we call fingers that are spring loaded. When the press stroke is in the down position, the slide moves backwards ,the fingers spread, and as the stroke raises the springs close the fingers around the park being transferred. The part is transferred to the next set of tools and the process is repeated.
Transfer presses come in all sizes from hundreds of tons to bench top micro stamping.
