I can remember back in the 80s and 90s when the Southern Pacific, Cotton Belt/SSW and Rio Grande would go through my town. Those were some good ole days of railroading.
My late grandfather was a Cotton Belt machinist at the Pine Bluff AR shops. Lots of memories there! Great to see the Cotton Belt and St Louis Southwestern livery in action!
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Hearing that amazing diesel sound and cars coming through is absolutely crazy. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, I just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
Nice video and well filmed. Everything there is bad for transportation and for quality of life in the surroundings, but it's wonderful for the railfans.
The Cotton Belt GP60 is battered but looks a lot better than the heavily graffitied geeps in Los Angeles. The GP40-2 looks like it was recently repainted.
First time seeing this area. I really like the SP and UP RRs. I live probably the farthest away from this area in this continental US. I live in Sag Harbor, NY. Merry Christmas to all and please keep posting these videos!
Probably just wondering which crew member is where while the train was rolling back towards the cars. I don’t have any idea why else they would say that unless someone really wasn’t at the throttle of the locomotive.
@@AGoldenStateRailfanGranite rock is served by a different local. The “Rock Job”. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the ‘51 goes to Golden State Lumber and Quint ST in Bayshore.
I have seen the "rock train" run up and down the peninsula and to the port of Redwood City countless times, and it NEVER gets old! Love it!
Awesome to see an old Cotton Belt loco in 2024... and street running no less!

When it's time for a repaint, that needs to stay in its SP/SSW colors. Awesome to see Bloody Nose locos still out working.
4:32 I was just looking at this road on Google Maps today and wondering how it works, and then this video pops up in my recommendations!
Ha... awesome.... the SSW pushed the UP shield overlay off... LOL

I love that Redwood City still has this.
Cotton Belt GP60 oh yeah!

A little "street running", . . . . I like it.
I used to work in south city and would see these locomotives all the time. I had no idea this branch existed

Not far off, but Lubec, Maine is about an extra 220 miles.
I saw that pair switching in Salinas by my house the other day
Outstanding
Lived o Grand St in R C from 89-96 and would often go down to the port and see the SP shuttling cars
Cotton Belt Lives!!!! 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, live king and prosper please!!!!

Excellent👍🏻I love Locomotives🚂Right into my LOCOMOTIVES playlist😃New subscriber here#865Merry Christmas🎄⛄🎅🏻🤶🏻ROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
At least they are not covered in 100% graffiti like Los Angeles locals are.
Great video. I subscribed to your channel as well!
Nice train
Nice catch!
Thanks!
Cool video!
Keep that beautiful Cotton Belt unit out of Los Angeles! It'll be covered in graffiti in about 1 day.
Did someone remove the UP logo from the front of the cotton belt unit?
It was always the ssw logo and never the up logo
@ at 5:15 you can see what looks like sticker residue from a UP logo. Just curious.
@@JonathanGomes1980Sorry, I see what you’re talking about now. Yeah someone must have taken it off of the hood.
We moved from redwood city in 1977 didn't know they had a port now.
I flew into SFO the other day and saw a big ocean freighter leaving the Port of Redwood City.
Good Video 🚂🚂
Redwood City must be here in California.
Yes,Yes it is
It’s a suburb between San Jose and San Francisco
I was in the red Peterbilt with the Flatbed were you the one standing on the side of the filming around 10:45-12pm yesterday?
Yeah that must have been me.
What does SSW stand for? 😊
St. Louis Southern
@@AGoldenStateRailfanSt Louis and south western
@@Bruce_Willard Actually, "St Louis Southwestern" -- no "and", and no space.
They run in the daytime now?
During the day they switch out the port and at night they switch out granite rock.
@@AGoldenStateRailfanis there a set weekly schedule?
@@GeeWhizbangmondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. Getting there at around 11:00 and leaving around 1:30 to 2:30
