Peugeot's 308 family hatch gets far more polish in this third generation guise, with smarter packaging, extra engineering options and a bit more useful technology. The result is a more desirable product than you might expect from this familiar Gallic brand. You might be surprised at how much you'd like it.

I just had a drive of this model and was VERY impressed. The 3 cylinder turbo has plenty of power..steering is light and accurate...car rides nicely and is very stable. The interior quality is outstanding..

    Very comprehensive review. Thank you.
BTW - I've driven a Peugeot with the smaller steering wheel. No problems - just takes a bit of getting used to. Just on engines. I have a 2012 308 - 2L diesel. The best engine Peugeot has put in a car. 5.5 L/100km - that gives it a range of 1000-1200kms. Plenty of power. In Australia the hybrids would not be of much value - simply because of our distances. The diesel engines are far superior to the newer petrol engines. Cannot understand why they are using the 1.5 diesel when the 2.0L diesel is superior (and that comes from the two top Peugeot mechanics here in NSW, Australia.)
I'm not one for all the options that most people don't use. You don't need Sat Nav as your mobile phone does that. You certainly need at least 17" alloy wheels and a good A/C. Heated seats are a waste and I have never used mine in 10 years (even on the coldest days). I must admit I don't really care about looks (I know - I'm strange). I want reliability, comfort, good handling, engine longevity - above good looks. That's why we have owned Peugeots for about 55 years.

The cluster screen IS configurable and there definitely is a navigation option for it.

Great review and love the car and colour. A quality car. Loved my previous 308s.

The sw is longer than this model which leads to about 200 liters more bootspace. Sw is 465cm long

The 308 diesel is nicely specced and can be had cheaper than the petrol at the moment (UK) but not sure how long that will last. The diesel will be on my shortlist when i change again as the new astra sadly does not come in diesel variant.

The speedo placement isn't unique - Hyundai's, at least the Tucson we have, has speedo on left and power gauge / rev counter on the right.

I'm really pleased with my new Peugeot 308 GT petrol, it's a great car as this comprehensive video review confirms. I've had it almost a month and do I regret my decision YES. The reason why is that Peugeot are supplying the new 308 with missing equipment. Mine is missing...heated windscreen, wireless charging, 3D i-Cockpit, heated steering wheel and traction control deactivation. There should be a series of function buttons to the bottom right of the steering wheel. My car just has 5 blanking plates where these should be and this missing kit is not an isolated incident, search for - Peugeot Forum..Missing Specifications. It's my first and last Peugeot. I'm in touch with Peugeot UK but haven't got anywhere yet !!!

I was owner of 308 1.6 blue HDI/100 till yesterday, extremely economic car, especially for open road what I prefer 90% of driving. Now I'm looking for this new 308, but I'm so confused what type of engine to choose because there is no more diesel production 😢. What are your opinions?

@@Krume79 correct - they’ve stopped production. Getting rid of them in favour of the Mild Hybrids.
