      Was just looking at these myself, my CPU on the stock cooler is dying in this 95-105F weather and saw the ARGB SE is only $34.90, was looking to see what the difference between the SE and regular reviewed by Gamer's Nexus was and I bump into someone from the OWL streams with the top comment. It's a small internet sometimes.
      I'm debating with myself going with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE ARGB for just 34.90 (man, that's a value) or a Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 AIO for $53, never tried an AIO and hesitant dealing with the eventual pump dying but they do look pretty cool and work really well --while they last. Gonna have to measure I guess and see if I've got the space in the case for the air cooler. Anywho, take care and cool running into you at random. Peace.

    • @LegolasSenpai
      @LegolasSenpai 11 месяцев назад +1

      I was also going for the 240 aio but don't really want it dying on me unexpectedly or having leaks. Cheap aios aren't that reliable. I just came from gamer nexus review and now this video. I couldn't be happier about my decision to get the air cooler (P.A ARGB SE versión). Only paid $31 on Amazon btw. Can't believe is that good for.the price.

    So the SE is slightly cooler at low fan speeds while the spl levels are the same, and when the temperatures equalize and as we go towards more demanding loads, the temperatures are the same while the original is slightly quieter. To me being slightly quieter at load is more important than being slightly cooler at a lower fan speed: imo the original can just increase fan speed a bit to make up the difference in temp, and it will still be a low fan speed thus still be quiet. The real chips are down when things are running hot, and since the OG cools just as well but does it slightly quieter at those loads, that makes more sense to me.

    Are you only normalizing by fan speed% thats reported or actual rpm? because RPM for rated fans is allowed to deviate by +/- 10% , which could account for any DBA discrepancies you're seeing when comparing the coolers.

    • @pc_analytics
      @pc_analytics  Год назад

      Everything is based on RPM numbers, so a 1000 +/- 10% fan percent's are based off of 1000, so a 777 RPM is treated as 77.7%. I never go off of input % speed. I.e. if I tell my motherboard 80% on the fan noted in the example above and the computer reports a RPM of 721, I treat that as 72.1% for both noise and temp tests.

    • @pc_analytics
      @pc_analytics  Год назад

      There are too many unknowns for me to assist effectively. Your fan curve determines the noise level and the cooling ability of the cooler. With that the remu fan control is changing the fan curve. It may need additional changes to get it to where it's ideal for you. Regarding the burning smell, check all the power ports. Based on the information given, I don't believe it has something to do with the CPU.

    • @pc_analytics
      @pc_analytics  Год назад +2

      It's important to note that the heatload and performance from 125W load on an AMD CPU is very different than a 125W load on an intel CPU. For example a 125W load on an AMD 5800x may be comparable to over 200W on an Intel CPU. For this reason the Watts shouldn't be explicitly considered, but the take away of the video should be the relative differences in performance between the CPU coolers under various loads.

      I have a PA120 Black (non-SE) running Corsair ML120 Pro (2400 rpm max) fans. My MB (Z590 Aorus Master) has independent fan headers for each fan.
      The CPU is an Intel i7-11700K.
      The inner fan is set to 0% at CPU core temps of 50°C or below. It runs 50% at 51°C, 69% at 69°C, 90% at 70°C, and 100% at 80°C.
      The outer fan is set to 30% at 30°C and below, 40% at 40°C, then a generally flat curve up to 100% at 75°C.
      This setup holds idle temp in the low 30s with one fan running at around 900 rpm when ambient temp is 22°C.
      The i7-11700K holds 192W at 68°C with no throttling running Prime95 with AVX option turned off via the p95 settings. The fans are running in the 75-80% range (1800-1900 rpm) and never hit anywhere near 100% with this test running for 10+ minutes.
      If the AVX options, including AVX-512, are enabled in the p95 settings:
      With CPU Temp limit set to 80°C in BIOS, it holds 225W indefinitely with throttling from 4.9GHz down to 4.6-4.7GHz. Fans go all the way to 100%.
      With CPU Temp limit set to 85°C it holds 235W indefinitely with only the mildest of throttling, from 4.9GHz down to 4.7-4.8GHz. Fans go all the way to 100%.

      Would the Peerless Assassin be sufficient for a 5800X3D?

      @@prodlowd Unfortunately I don't have data on the 5800x3D so I can't provide definitive guidance. With that in mind, here are my thoughts are on the PA120 on the 3800x3D:
      • There are only a few coolers that would do slightly better than the PA120 (NH-D15/AK620) With that, if you're looking for more cooling performance gains you will have to think about AIOs.
      • the 3800x3D runs hotter than the 3800x, so I would expect higher temperatures for a given power input (i.e. it will run hotter than what I'm showing under similar conditions)
      • The conditions I'm running these CPU are under stressed conditions that are harsher than gaming. That means if you're just looking to play games, your temps will be lower than what I'm showing. This may not hold true if you're doing data processing/Machine Learning that uses the CPU non-stop.
      With the above in mind, I would expect that the PA120 should be sufficient for keeping the 3800X3D cool.

    It would be nice to have at least the test benches showed in the video. You're a little channel so you need to gain a little bit of trust first
    Second thing, I'd really like if the graphs would have more precise axis, to determine easier the temps
    Seems a promising channel though 👍

      Why would he go through all the trouble to make up all of these charts and figures without actually having the coolers? They literally cost the same price as a burger at a restaurant, even a homeless person can afford to buy this cooler and review it on youtube. Come on bro, you gotta learn to show a bit of respect sometimes.

    Sir I really need your advice, my average room ambient temp is 34-36c.
    My current setup is i5 12400F BCLK 4.8Ghz feat deepcool AG400Plus, it's single tower though.
    In gaming CPU intense such as emulator, the max temp was 77c.
    If I replace my current cooler to Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 which hava dual tower, do you think there will be a big difference?
    Thanks is advance.

      Main difference is the radiator and heat pipes. Fans are the same. Differences in sound and temps are from how the radiator differences interact with the fans.
