    00:45 That is *not* a choke. The bike does not have a carburetor. It is fuel injected, and that little lever is to *open* the throttle bodies slightly to increase RPM when the bike is cold and then is returned to the *closed* position for idle. It’s a common mistake people make because it darn well *_looks_* like a choke lever and it is used at startup when the engine is cold.

    Polaris did a terrible job of marketing the Victory line of motorcycles. I ride a 2009 Vision. I cannot count the number of times people have asked me when this bike came out. Every person who has confronted me has said they never seen anything like this bike and where can they find one. Labor Day 2017 a group of riders from Australia had rented 14 Harley Davidsons and were getting off a tour bus near the Grand Canyon. My wife and I were riding up to the park. They came over and were asking me about my bike. I thought surely if they rode Harley’s they would know about this bike. Nope. It’s like the world was left out of knowing about these bikes on purpose.

    I had the 05 king pin. Unreal handling. Went through a set of floor boards. The bike is more set up as a sport bike. Smaller front tire and with inverted forks. I miss that bike.

    They quit. right as they were catching on,especially among tall people,they run all day and handle like a dream. Love my xc, and if it weren't for Victory, Harley would still be a 2 valve. The 106 was a natural for cam less heads. They would have blown the competition away in torque, fuel mileage, and Epa compliance with that simple upgrade. Too bad.
    Ride on.

    Actually then did fine on marketing however they just did not have the "name" Victory is superior to Indian however people buy brand names and Victory just could not become a household name. Look at all the years (past) where Harley was horrible yest people bought them knowing they would break. The cross country is probably the best V twin ever made. I really like the simple dash, no gps, no fax machine, no frills just a speedo, what else do you really need?

  • @dennism1919

    Great video. Thanks for that! The 'Pin is a legend - one of Victory's best bikes. This one, in tour trim, looks especially good. This would have been Vic's tour model for 2006, as the Cross was not introduced until about 2010. I ride a 2014 Vision Tour, and it is hands down THE best bike I own. The power, the comfort, the functionality, the styling - there is nothing out there like it. Is it better than a Harley? People seem to want to make that comparison. I don't know, really. I would rather not beat that drum, as I respect both brands. I just know that the Vision is the right bike for me. 39,000 miles in 3.5 years and ZERO down time. That pretty much speaks for itself. Whomever buys this bike will get a great machine. Ride on...

    Polaris/Victory with that ease of maintenance engine design is not dead, its technology was ahead of its time but functional. No push rods, gear drive primary, air oil cooling, one hole oil change, one oil drain plug. Polaris went full speed on Indian with a engine that has more moving parts than the old Harley-Davidson V twin. Harley-Davidson has since changed to a single cam, gear counter balancing etc.
    I would not be surprised if Polaris puts the engine from Victory in the Indians but on a larger scale equal to their 111ci because that victory engine technology is the future and they know it, if Polaris is smart they could sell that low maintenance design motor to Harley-Davidson, either way it’s gonna get used.

  • @threehemis5566

    Victory are such great bikes. I owned a V rod tried the hammer and traded in on it immediately. i loved Harleys too always wanted one. People who say Victory was just an HD knockoff or seem cheap because there are a couple plastic signal holders or whatever have never ridden one seriously or compared bikes back to back. Polaris didn't knock off HD they gave an awesome option and improved that option performance wise and even gave the consumer a break at the bank compared to HD. Plus there is nothing similar in the lines of the bike, Victory is just all flowing art as opposed to choppy and square with things appearing to be just randomly bolted on. Everything they did made HD better and is really going to make Indian a great brand too. Polaris (Indian) really needs to expand on the brand though offering more bikes than just baggers and the scout. kind of weird that they didn't take some of the more popular victory models, tweak them and bring them along as rebadged Indians. Just abandoned the whole thing.

    Why do you test these (any) bike with one of the mirrors flapping in the wind? Take the time to take a wrench to tighten them both up first. Give the Bike a thorough exam to the brakes, lights and mirrors before you demo it for the public to test ride it. For your own safety... You have an outstanding dealership and two really cool guys making it click, so I'm not knocking what you have, just Please take the time to tighten those mirrors before you take it for a spin. Purdy please, with sugar on top.

    The reason Victory went out of business is that everyone that wanted one had one. Indian went out of business in 1953. Polaris is not in the motorcycle business, Harley-Davidson is. 100+ years.
    If the Harley EVO didn’t resurrect the cruiser/ touring market in 1984 none of these mc companies making V-Twins world be making V-Twins. NADA! ZILCH! Not Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Polaris, Zilch.
    Give me a Harley-Davidson any day! That’s what they all pretend to be:)

  • @PhatboyHD88

    Yea but Victory ridiculed harley for many engine designs,, in example using push rod design,, and yet here they are using push rods in their Indian line,,, same with the fuel system you spoke about now they do basically the same as harley,,, and have any of you noticed the engine on the scout is almost identical to the VROD,,, because it is.. so the problem i see is that Victory spent all their marketing in bashing harley instead of just worrying about their own product,, saying how superior the design was ,, bit now they more and more are copying alot of what Harley does,, and their constant bashing and trashing Harleys turned alot of ppl off,,, lets hope they learned their lesson and will go down a different path with their Indian line...and just worry about what they are doing and show what innovations they are making ,, and not drive a wedge in between the 2 groups of consumers...

    • @HDR20
      @HDR20 7 лет назад

      You are exactly right. That is one of the reasons i didnt buy victory because they were always comparing to harley instead of like the other manufactures and saying we have more power etc etc than the competition. Victory always went out of way to bash and compare to Harley

    • @usethenoodle
      @usethenoodle 7 лет назад +1

      Actually, on the Indian 111 bikes the air enters the air box through the front of the frame behind the triple clamp. There is an aluminum spine under the fuel tank open forward in front of the tank. Air gets rammed through the frame spine and into the air box. Unless... you change to a stage one air cleaner. Then that changes to conventional air cleaner aka Harley type.

      Ugly my ass, I get people telling me all the time how sweet my bike is. stock for stock I'll blow your doors off too. Victory's are basically bullet proof. Gear drivin primaries, no stupid 1940's chain slapping around. I see Harley copied Vic with their new lineup. Gear drivin primary, mono shock chassis. Harley will never make a bagger this badass! ruclips.net/video/Kd2_HPgJnnk/видео.html
