POP DIP AND SPIN
That subtle Star Wars melody had my childish heart skipping beats. I couldn't do the Wop or any of that stuff, but boy, i was trying!
It was Vietnam 1973. Now it's Ukraine 2022.

Finishing handball as the sun sets in Lincoln Terrace Park. Dj’s setting up 6 foot speakers for the jam. The six step, hustle was thee moves to have back then. I had them and enjoyed it. As soon as it was pitch black had to go home but could hear the music blasting from the park. Ahhhhhhh, memories.
This song permeated my consciousness one night on late night radio in the 70s on WBLS New York. I didn't know what it was, but I knew I loved it. I had only known about TSOP through the "SoulTrain Theme" and was pulled in by that melody and particular dance break. Because I was a Barry White - Love Unlimited Orchestra fanatic, I found out through "borrowing" this album from my sister and discovering this gem of a tune. At the time, I had always wished the break was longer, and later got my wish with the remix and so loved how the long play was celebrated on the dancefloor. "Love is the Message" is a masterpiece.
This the JAM forever!!!
Amen to that tune for eternity
Love the version of this that features The Three Degrees also! 🎤 🎙 🎶 🎼 🎵
Zac Zachary was 🔥 on the sax!
W B L S..... Yes. NYC in the 70's is the feel of this song. I was there, dancing in discos... the break is just the beginning !!!!
Love this best without the vocals ... MY favorite song of ALL time. No matter what or where - this brings back NYC in the 70's.
Yes it does ❤❤
What a timeless masterpiece. Brings me back to childhood. Memories!

I wish I could have done more to show you how much I loved you, dad. But it’s too late now. I’m eternally grateful for being born as your son, and sorry for not acting as such.
Rest in peace!

This jam should be elevated to the status of an anthem. A song and a half.
The second it comes on it hits your soul
I fell in love with this song at the tender age of only 14 in 1974,simply magical!
I was eight years old that year. I loved it too!
I was 18, you know I was having a good time! I just made 66 I still get down.
oh, yeah, they would mix this over & over for what seemed like hours for the hippest musical trip on the dance floor, no party favors even necessary
I was seven age in 1974!
Yes Lord how Marcy same here I still dance to the Jam
Such great memories of all the fun block parties in Brooklyn NY,,,, listening to this song makes me happy

Very much part of the "Philly Sound" forever!!!
In a world that is so messed up at the moment, the whole world should listen to this and just dance the night away to this absolute anthem.
Nice
That is what it was about back then. Same applies today!
Dancing to this at jam's in the parks in the Bronx and Brooklyn!
OMG, I've been looking for this song for the past 15 years. Found it by humming on Google, didn't even know that was an option. So happy I'm in tears😪 Best sounds ever💙

MFSB🫶🏻THE BEST EVER …truly classic to reckon with❤️🥳
The first time i listened to this wonderfull music i fell in love with the sound of Philadelphia orchestra.
When DJs was playing music in parks and or on your block. This was one of the greatest. My favorite.
I use to spin in the streets of East Harlem when this hustle classic came out. I use to hang at starship discovery, infinity, ipanima, rose land, con tiki, Zenon, inferno, studio 54, galaxy 21,the real lime lite on Christopher st in the village, the fun house, town house 48, crisco disco, danceteria the bin soir on 8st , the nite life la Femm.
I remember, especially in crotona Park. Bronx, N.Y.!! Good times.
Everyone outside doing the hustle or freestyling, good times
Everybody was dancing
That will never be old

The absolute greatest song of the 70"s. It revolutionized the era of not only Disco...but a definition of what good music is supposed to be. I grew up in Jersey City New Jersey and and started DJing in 78. If you didn't have this jam in your crate....you were looked at as weak. Absolutely a classic.
Wow i remember hearing this song at a after work house party i could not get enough of this record so when MfsB came to new York i had a ticket on the front row it was and is the best concert I've ever attended!
One of the best songs ever recorded.
14B!!!
God, this brings the Philly Sound back …. Their backing of some of the 70s soul greats was amazing…

I can't imagine a hit today having such leisurely intro. The way it takes nearly a minute to build to the hook is so exquisite
Ronnie Baker played the bass in numerous styles.
A true masterpiece from a great record label 70s gold ❤️👌

One of my favorite tunes from one of the most stellar music outfits of the 70s. To give you some idea of just how far reaching the Philly International sound was l spent my high school years in West Africa when I first heard the tune Sexy along with songs by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes as well as the O Jays
