I love when you can watch the whole series / movie in one trailer.
Series/movies are to experience. Not just about story line. I pissed of these kind of comment
@@mahis7573 I thought they were being sarcastic ..
How am I supposed to dislike Mr Wilcox when he's Matthew MacFadyen? It's very unfair
You're not. The book was much more complicated than that. The sisters are just as supercilious in the way they criticise Bast's aspirations, and while Wilcox is lacking in sentiment, he's a far more effective protector of his family than Tibby. The story is about extreme politics and how neither sphere gets it right. Consider, Helena destroys Leonard by giving herself to him far more effectively than Wilcox's bad advice. Margaret doesn't like children and is rather strident. This is not meant to be an easy knot to untangle.
@@thehussarsjacobitess85 spot on analysis!
I know! It's impossible to dislike him :-)
It was easier when he was played by Anthony Hopkins.
Matthew MacFayden could read the phone book and he could have his way with me.
I LOVEEEEEEEE this book. My older sister made me read it almost ten years ago after announcing that I was like Helen. I think she meant passionate and independent, but I'm still offended lol.
Julia Norton what was the secret that caused so much hysteria
Why be offended? Helen is great.
Chapter 1:
"He says the most horrid things about women’s suffrage so nicely, and when I said I believed in equality he just folded his arms and gave me such a setting down as I’ve never had. Meg, shall we ever learn to talk less? I never felt so ashamed of myself in my life. I couldn't point to a time when men had been equal, nor even to a time when the wish to be equal had made them happier in other ways."
Mr Darcy!!! ❤️
yes but the beard!!! WHY!!!!!!
I thought you meant Colin Firth and got excited
Not bad with the beard on.
I am gonna read that bloody book again and then go and watch all existing adaptions. Nothing is going to stop me now!
Just finished watching this in BBC. It's amazing. It's almost as great as the classic 1992 film. Haley Atwell is absolute perfection for the role of Margaret Schlegel.
I think this is an awful version compared to the one from 1992. This version has some good angles when it comes to dialogue but at the same the whole is distorted by acting hyper.

@@julikzhulik Exactly, found this looking for the original and 'almost as great' is to praise it with the faintest of complements and undeserving at that. The trailer is utterly out of touch with the style of the period, rather it drops 21st century women into a distorted view of the past and then sees them react as if they lived in the modern day... attrocious BBC garbage.
@@growinsane9123 Have you seen the original? I don't see any difference.
The series allows them to give a lot more time to characters that only got minimal screentime in the movie, like the young guy, and the story has more room to breathe.
It's hard to beat Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson in a Merchant-Ivory Production, but this one holds up to it.
I've always had a fondness for English period dramas!
How come I've never heard of this before 2022 🤯 This looks terrific! And there's a book !!! 😍
Julia Ormond ,Hayley Atwell and Mathew Macfaden are just amazing in this series !
It's so weird to watch the same story but with different actors and a completely different atmosphere. (Referring to Howards End with Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins)
Hayley is just beyond gorgeous
Loved the film, but really appreciated how this adaptation gave us more time with Leonard and his wife, and fleshed out Wilcox a lot more. It's a complex story that even a Merchant-Ivory film can't fully do justice to.
Loved the series sooo much...Wonderful..I felt no need to compare this to 1992.....Both are good....Of course I adore MM and found Hayley Atwell excellent.......I will watch it again and again...xoxoxo
Hayley Atwell 😍😍😍
Wonderfully cast and so true to the book!
Bought Howard's End off eBay very recently have to 2words Loved it great casting Matthew with his beard is great as Mr Wilcox if you can get a copy of eBay just get it it's slightly lighter than the Antony Hopkins one maybe because Matthew plays a younger Mr Wilcox this movie is just brilliant
Starz is on a roll!! In this order...
Outlander
Counterpart
Howard's End
how can you forget Power..but yes, starz is putting out some amazing series.
Black Sails would be my top pick. But yes, Starz is bringing back my faith in good TV.
Didn’t know this existed! Can’t wait to watch, looks great.
TRACY ULLMAN!!!!! Goshhhhhhh I love her! But seriously the cast looks amazing!!
Gosh this trailer gives away much of the story. Fabulous series though.
@roz doreman Fun fact: not everyone has read every book ever published.
I just saw the 1992 adaptation of Howards End and I already feel like this one better captures the ethos of The Schlegels. Will definitely see this one.
It is a very good series, i have watch it on TV . Its better than the most series i have seen before.
THE Joseph Quinn is Mr. Leonard Bast. WTH.... He's Freddie Munson in Stranger Things.
For those who have no idea about the story, I warn you, the ending is TOO MUCH.
Eddie Munson* ❤️
Omg it's Eddie Munson 😂😍
The female actors all look alike.
Jenny Jenny They look like they’re really related to each other!
I said the same thing! I couldn't tell them apart, how funny. Jackie yes she stood out because I'm comparing this to the Emma Thompson version but the Jackie role seemed so very miscast not her biracial, no that was ok, it was that she was old enough to be his mother and was wrong so sedate for the part. The casting was all wrong.
LemonDrop Yes I can see that but this version of Jacky seemed much older than she was supposed to be, even more than 10 years, maybe I'll have to reread the book. The movie with Emma Thompson was ingrained in my mind as the quintessential version - the "original" Jacky nailed that wedding scene trying to be a lady but obviously not, to me that was superb and selfless acting. " 'enry it's me Jacky." I guess I can't accept a different Jacky.
Actresses. Not female actors. And i am Greek, girl!
Omg I know who the actress who plays Ruth Wilcox now. Shes that brother stealer from Legend of the Fall! 😂
This is going to be good
This looks good. Plus Hayley Atwell is very pleasant to look at. 😏
Endlessly re-filming, jeez! Anyone a bit creative out there?
Gosh darn it Britain now I got to watch this to...
what is Eddie Munson doing here
Well I was going to watch this, but the trailer gave the entire story. Thanks for saving me the time, I guess.
I read the title Howard (Stark)...
Just bought the DVD of it this afternoon! But the James Ivory version is always good!
Spoilers if you haven't seen it-----
This trailer is misleading. It makes it seem like Wilcox had a big secret that Helen knew about and Margaret only found out after she married him, and as though that secret was central to the plot. I watched the series waiting the whole time for the secret to come out but it turned out to be bad editing.
Watch the movie with Anthony Hopkins.
Love the Townhouse The schaigles lived in..before they got to live at Howard's End...Howard's End was a Beautiful Property ....In watching the series recently on PBS..I thought the Guy who lived at the Flat with his wife was very antisocial and it was one of the things that held him back.
perfectly good movie already made
Mr. Darcy?
I know I'm picky but I'm a realism nut.. Episode 3.. There were Strawberry's in cased in a plastic container that never could happen.. Another scene show a man starting a car electrically however in 1903, Clyde J. Coleman invented and filed the first electric starter in America U.S. Patent # 0,745,157.. He should have used a crank... Sorry had to say it.. I just have fun finding this stuff.. And yes I do have a life...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starter_(engine)
Thanks actually I thought the strawberries were off.
On the contrary, I think your comment makes a point.
Actually, the strawberries were in gelatin. So, no problem there
All that and the grey car seen in this trailer is plainly post WWI. And the costume designer seems determined to put every woman in circa 1900 blouses/dresses with sleeves puffy at the shoulder - a fashion long, long gone when Howard's End's action is set and cars were becoming common (around 1910).
Mr Darcy!
Something worth watching, looks good!
Gang shit right here
Yes please!
Sorry is this the music to great British bake off??? (The first half)
Joseph! Dear boy, Joseph! ❤❤❤❤❤
Pov: you here for Joseph Quinn
Yes.
Mr. Darcy !! :)
I cannot wait for the final episode!!
I like it this series
I'm so excited!
Thumbs up if you like the book than the TV series 👍
oh god cannot wait for this
It's Peggy Carter and Mr. Darcy :0
Better than the original one. So good. 💕💕💕
No way in hell.
I thought it was actually better too, though it was a close call and the 1992 film version is still excellent.
Hate me but I still think the movie with Helena Bonham Carter is the best😌
Goddamn Hayley Atwell is beautiful. Goddamn.
Is thay Joseph Quinn, Eddie!! from stranger things??
Talk about spoilers in a trailer xD
I wanna see this and I'm a sci-fi guy.
Don't worry bro me too!! I'm with you, count me in. Stay safe if you can
@@guadalupealvarez9500 ur sweet
@@hentai7444 Well Thank you! Hopefully your doing just okay! How are you?
I know there was a movie with Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins called "Howard's end, is this a remake of that? I am curious to read the book.
the sisters look related good pick
How i will find the very full movie plezzz
Trailer showed all serie denouement.
I think title meant to say Stark instead of Starz.
They have to stop telling us everything at the trailers
This looks good but will never reach the peak of acting that were given in the original film from that stellar cast from the oscar winning performance of emma Thompson to dame Vanessa to sir Hopkins and miss Bonham carter truly i will never forget watching them
It's a crime to romanticize a person like Henry, an immoral selfish man , who build his fortune from colonies. He seduces Jacky out of a whim and then abandons her to her fate. He could very well use willing sex workers, he had the money for it, if his lust was so overpowering. The attempt to redeem him by throwing light on financial contributions he made at the end and make an intelligent and independent character like Margaret's ,heroic by staying the "good wife" and forgiving his sins is despicable. It sends out the message that women no matter how intelligent should forgive a man's (especially rich) sins, not follies mind you, to be truly honourable and appreciated instead of exposing and punishing his crime to justice and public. I wonder when will an era come when men no matter how rich or poor see women as individual human beings who has as much right to respect and independence , not just as vessels to entertain their whims. Films like this , still being produced and portrayed as romances shows we are still far from that time
I had no sympathy at all for the character in the film version with Anthony Hopkins in the role. He was a bit better here, but not by much. He was basically responsible for the central tragedy of the story, one which bore some better fruit, but still hurt a lot of people, including his own children. I loved Atwell in this role actually, and preferred this version, but that irked me.
drop ya daddy issues will ya..
Does the book do this or only the movie?
Oh really…….come on please, just enjoy the film, let it wash over you"………
Jesus forgives you of your sins so you should forgive others.
Don’t fall for the feminist propaganda it will leave you completely empty and unfulfilled. Only the love and grace of Jesus can fill that gap and take away your anger of the world
Will this be a full length feature film? Well, let's see how it stands up to the Anthony Hopkins,Vanessa Redgrave, Emma Thompson & Helena Bonham Carter one !
I love movies like these. Can you recommend me one? Or any series like these?
BBC's War and Peace from 2016 was good if you like historical period dramas.
Brideshead Revisited - series - (1981 version with Jeremy Irons) - Adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel
A Room With A View (1985 by Merchant-Ivory) - Adaptation of the EM Forster novel
Maurice (1987 by Merchant-Ivory) - Adaptation of the EM Forster novel
North and South - mini-series - (2004 BBC version) - Adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel
Impromptu (1991) - A fictionalized telling of the romance between Chopin and George Sand aka Amantine Dupin
@Be Happyyy: You might like to try ‘Babette’s Feast’ - different genre, but the same gorgeous aesthetic: an Oscar- winning film from a story by Karen Blixen….a maid - a refugee actually - wins a lottery!
Well, what would YOU do…?
🙏🏻💔🙏🏽
@@rumblefish9 : ‘A Room with a View’ is magnificent, & Maggie Smith’s turn as Lucy’s Spinster Auntie!
This, you won’t believe: but in the novel, Lucy’s encounter with George is incredibly powerful & erotic - a sudden fall from a bank - Lucy regains consciousness in a world turned upside down: a field of violets has become the sky, and all around her is golden…& a handsome man kneels down beside her…& they kiss: no wonder Aunt Charlotte is mortified!
🙏🏻💔🙏🏽
Nothing really happens and it goes on for 4 episodes.
Como consigo em Portugues?
Does anybody know a series about young people who live in a town, these young people are friends and I assume some of them are lovers?
That's all I got. I came across it once but could not find it again. The series is supposedly quite good.
it's something up with these girls, we shall find out. 😄
Where can I watch this online? I'm from New Zealand and am having trouble finding it.
I'm in Canada and had to buy each episode off of RUclips from the PBS Masterpiece RUclips channel. PBS is a public broadcaster that airs on US and Canadian television....so am not sure if the RUclips channel.is geoblocked. It was 8$ Canadian dollars for 4 episodes. It was worth it though. 👌
Anna - Hi - just finished watching - my son taught - if you go into RUclips and put the following
/xmovies8.si/genre/drama/ (in the very top line)
it opens a whole new world. You'll find this is one of the ones you can access.
So I have been bing watching over the past couple of days. I love the British Period Dramas.
Hope all is well- Jo from CHCH.
I saw a big kiss there. I can’t believe you.
I have a question: why is Tibby snobbish about Dostevsky, when he talks to Mr. Bast? Was he considered lowbrow or something? :D
Poldark
Is that woman that girl from *Lightning Point?*
Yes, Amber.
Is that Peggy?
Hanifah khanom yes, yes it is. Hayley Atwell aka Margaret Peggy Carter.
She has an entirely different character not at all dangerous
Sorry Emma but Michelle Piefer was the best actress in batman returns
I am on episode 3 and cannot stand Leonard Blast and wfie part in this cant they write them off in the next remake of Howard End..
Is this going to have season 2? I love this show
Morgan Moe you realise it’s based on a book? They’re not going to stray from that for more content ...
Miniseries is usually 4-6 episode.
We get about ten Starz stations but this isn't on any of them. Don't get your hopes up.
yall i wanted to see the trailer not the whole thing god dammit
One of my favourite films. I got through 7 minutes of the first episode. Horrible casting & a horrible idea. HBO's Mildred Pierce mini series is another example of why it's foolish to try and mess with perfection. BOSH.
WHERE THE FUCK IS ALEX
Mr. Wilcox, from his look and manner, seems miscast.
Terrible version. All the actors look almost identical. So much screaming and hysteria.
it's made for women. nothing like downton abbey
A remake was ill-advised.
What a wonderful story. Shame the WONDERFUL ACTING is drowned by the ugliest music I have ever heard back a series. Were has the wonderful Poldark and Wolf Hall composer gone. I couldn't hear actors because the acting was often drowned out by this distorting disgusting interfering noise called background music. It should have been decommissioned and a real composer brought in to back this wonderful acting and story. Listen to the 1992 Jerome Robbins version for Howard End to get the real feel of the Romance and for some beauty in musical lyricism of this period piecee... Sorry to blast off but it is really HORRIBLE and much too LOUD .
ndSoh.end
No comparison with HBC e ET e AH. Sorry it just feels very poor...
No, it was very good.
I dont normally judge people even literary ones and i thought the sister was unhinged and SELFISH
Who is this even for?
Awful casting so disappointed! The sets were beautiful though.
Gertie Shaw they grew on😋
despite Haley Atwell, this is just a travesty of a sham. how DARE they---when the Merch/Ivo film was just re-released. PUNT.
This was just terrible compared to the movie.
Hated the story just sad all over and depressing, everyone needs higher standards in the show, and not to settle is the moral of the story at the end Spoiler almost everyone is single and broke.,,,
Furchtbare Verfilmung.
