No, thank YOU for watching. So many people never even gave this show a chance. And you're damn right about the 6-episode drawbacks.... Glad you found it enjoyable, all the same!
"Come with me if you want to live." The iconic line is said in each Terminator film. The line was first delivered in the 1984 film when Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) gunned down the T-800 (Schwarzenegger) and saved Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).
Hey Kaielle! (I’ve told you this before, but) thank you for choosing to enjoy what you watch in spite of the rhetoric that others spew trying to make sure none of us do enjoy ourselves. I really dug watching Ms. Marvel when it came out. (Most people claim they didn’t). My favorite episode was 5, (most people that liked the show said it was their least favorite episode). Seeing Kamala’s family backstory and finding out that she was what saved her Nani was awesome to me. I agree with you about the villains. It was too many antagonist, with unclear goals and underdeveloped motives. I have heard people use the excuse that they couldn’t get into the show because they feel like it was directed at young people. I think that’s nonsense because: 1: no one claims Spider-Man is hard to get into because it’s directed at young people, and 2. I am a 45 year old (black American midwestern Christian) man who can’t be the main demographic, but I love most of what this show is!
This show really caught me off guard. Growing up in the UK, I'd never even heard of The Partition, let alone been taught about it. You'd think it would've been helpful to know the history of something so devastating to so many that your own nation was responsible for, wouldn't you? Anyway, wonderful reaction as always to another great show. The villains were a weak point maybe, but the story and various other aspects like the story, acting, historical and cultural differences came together so well. Catch you for the next one
As an American I totally get it. I am a huge history buff and had never heard about the Tulsa massacre. However, for both of our countries History class would be 18 years long if we go into all the atrocities we are responsible for. If you really want to be depressed look up Jam Boy in relation to cricket.
I'm actually glad they made her a Mutant, originally that was the plan in the comics but in 2014 the former Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter and Creative Committee chair Alan Fine decided to focus less on the Fantastic Four and X-Men in an effort to avoid giving 20th Century Fox free publicity as Fox owned the rights to the F4 and X-Men films. So they focused on The Inhuman and made Ms. Marvel one of them. This included any new character planned to be introduced as a Mutant. You could see this massive change right away across Marvel during 2014 onwards. Anything Marvel related such as cartoons, comics, and merchandise lacked appearances from the X-Men and Fantastic Four. You would never find a Marvel T-Shirt during this time with X-Men, and The Fantastic Four on it. Instead it was The Avengers, Spider-Man and a few other characters. I guess this is one reason why so many people have no idea that X-Men and Fantastic Four are Marvel. If you were introduced to Marvel during this time, most likely thanks to the MCU you'd have no idea that X-Men, and F4 were even Marvel. And this not forget that during the 1980s to 2000s Marvel's biggest IPs were X-Men and Spider-Man, an X-Men comic still remains the highest selling comic of all time. As of 2024 I feel like the X-Men and Fantastic Four are making a comeback thanks to X-Men '97 (2024) movies such as Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) and Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) releasing next year. All front and centre for everyone to see instead of being pushed to the side.
It was by design, obviously.🤷♂️ now that marvel has the rights to X-Men and F4 again that’s why they are front and center. Thought that was common knowledge.
You probably know this, but in the comics they have now made Kamala a mutant like her creator, G. Willow Wilson, originally wanted her to be. And they’re definitely not giving the X-men (and I assume FF, I admit I’ve not kept up with them) the cold shoulder in the comics anymore, in fact many X-men fans will highly recommend the Jonathan Hickman era of X-men books he did starting in the late 2010’s. And the new X-men era starting this year is being given a TON of different books. Plus, the new Ultimate universe comics has X-men as one of its four main books so far (apparently a VERY different approach for X-men, but I’m excited to try it when the first trade comes out).
I loved this show! It’s up there with my favorites for sure! I agree on the villain criticisms for the MCU in general though. Oh and I will add that the Marvels was a great follow up! lol marvel is my life too.
I wish we got an extra episode to really see more from the red daggers and the clandestines. They kind of just ran right through that storyline too quickly.
You're the only reactor I consistently watch and I'm so glad you delve deeper into topics and talk about the nuances within each show. It's so refreshing! Keep doing you my dear, it's so enjoyable to watch!!!
I know quite a few people who review-bombed this show because it had a female lead, who was a person of color, and a Muslim to boot. Then, they continued on by review-bombing ‘The Marvels’, because they couldn’t stop their hate-filled campaign, but they are also super insecure, so they have to keep hating on Brie Larson, too. Now, I definitely don’t think that the movie was top-tier, or anything, but it wasn’t as bad as they made it out to be.
People who complain about phase 4 not feeling connected and not clear what it was building towards must have forgotten what phase 1 was like. Besides the end credit scenes, there was _no_ connection between Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, or Captain America _until_ Avengers. To be honest, I prefer there to be _less_ connection between the different stories. Each thing should be able to stand on its own without needing the audience to have context from every other movie and show. At most there should be _one_ story per phase that requires context (like Avengers), otherwise having knowledge of the rest of the franchise should just add to the depth of the world (like Kamran mentioning Kingo, or the existence of the DODC, etc). It's a _shared_ universe, not a single, unified story.
Probably mention before in the comics... but in the comics she named herself "Ms. Marvel" because she was such a huge fan of Captain Marvel, Carol Davers Captain Marvel was known as Ms. Marval before she moved in rank, so she named herself as "Ms. Marvel". But... This was such a great explaintion of how she decided the name. I teared up when her dad came up with the name and didn't mind it. :) Her siting on the lamp post was definitely comic book accuate and got me excited for the show. The music was the absolute best and definitely different from pop culture. :)
Terminator my dear is yes the movie that line is from! So cute u had to look that up. It's ok we all do it. Il get like a line from a movie or song stuck in my head & it's like I cannot function if I can't figure out where I know it from lol! Loved the reactions! My daughter really liked this series & then I took her to watch The marvels in the cinema & that was icing on the cake for her. I thought they were cute and pretty well done! ❤💞❤️
When Disney didn’t have the rights to the X-men, they tried to replace them with the Inhumans with mixed results. Kamala was an inhuman originally in the comics. She is now a mutant/inhuman hybrid.
Glad you liked her costume. It is comic-accurate, right down to the scene of her sitting on the streetlight. The mutation reference also had the quick notes of the X-Men animated series theme for emphasis. Apparently they had to do multiple takes because she couldn't contain her enthusiasm, being a HUGE comic fan herself. They better have gotten the culture aspects spot on, since the creator of the comic Sana Amanat is herself Pakistani-American. :)
Kyle Reese actually says the line to Sarah conner the first time in the first movie.🤷♂️ and they feature it in every movie since. It IS better delivered and more iconic in Judgement Day, though. But T2 is one of the greatest films ever made.
I too grew up an avid reader. Though I didn't start reading comics until I was in my 30s (and discovered that my local library offered trade paperbacks). At first I had trouble finding a way in, especially with Marvel comics. That was until I found a new (at the time) book that took an old name and gave it to a new character; Ms Marvel by G. Willow Wilson. I highly recommend Wilson's run with the comic for anyone who enjoyed this show. It has many differences, but the heart, charm, and fun are all there in a big way (or embiggened way, as the case may be).
I remember the first time I tried toffee. It was that "Mackintosh" brand, and probably from Halloween. My very first thought was, "this is hard to eat!" I definitely avoided toffee during my childhood until I tried "Toffifee." And then, I loved toffee.
Wasn't a big fan of their changing so much about the character (she is an inhuman in comics not djinn/mutant, she doesn't have light powers/she actually enlarges and stretches her body parts). I did really love the characters though. Fun reaction. Thanks!
I feel like you'd enjoy a playthrough of Marvel's Avengers game. It story largely focuses on Kamala Khan but goes on quite a journey though the Marvel universe. A lot of characters you'll recognize along the way.
I've only watched this through a couple different reaction channels, but it's pretty fun and I don't read into it all that much. I'm not quite following the people who are comparing it to the main MCU films. I suppose I could be way off because I don't know the comics, but it seems to me that this is leading to a group of young heros for more shows and movies aimed at kids. Are people expecting it to build to an End Game level peak? I just don't think that's the goal here. Kids need fun things too. Why does it need to be more than that?
I'm not suggesting it needs to build to an Endgame level ending because I don't think that can be replicated again, tbh. It happened once and was great! I should just change my mindset and be okay with everything feeling a lot more separated from one another. I'm learning about myself that I really loved the connected feeling we had in earlier phases and I think I just miss that.
As always, great and entertaining Reaction, good lady KL. Here's the thing, the factors for you're miscomprehension for why Najima's interaction with the Noor Gateway transfered her Clandestine "essence" to her hybrid Clandestine-Human son Kamram was not really elaborated on beforehand. Long explanation short, as Waleed revealed, Noor aka Hard Light is a matter and energy substance which space-time PARTITIONS coexisting planes of the universe occupying the same space and/or time. Najima's hitting the Bangle triggered Kamala's command of Hard-Light to unwittingly breach the Noor space-time Partition between present day Pakistan and 1942 India, and the breach was extremely unstable. Fariha's fatal failed attempt to pass through exacerbated the destabilization and Najima got the revelation that Aisha tried to alert her; using only one Bangle to breach the Noor Partition would be extremely hazardous, so in response to Kamala's appeal, she overloaded the instability by her using it for her space to space transference to her son, restoring the Noor partition and triggering his Hybrid Noor power. Until the upcoming The Marvels -- ***********phrased to not be SPOILERY************ --many, just as I did, didn't realized the Marvel Studios series of Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame anonymously introduced and depicted the commonplace utilizations of space-time Noor Partitions, their benefits and hazards.
I loved this show so much I have it on Blue Ray as well as Moonknight and Hawkeye I have on DVD. Love All three seasons of Jessica Jones wish I could see it with you I. Also have the Marvels.on DVD, as well and in DC love Stargirl seasons 1-3 and Titans seasons 1-4. I also have Cloak & Dagger seasons 1-2 as well not to boast
Ms. Marvel being the first official mutant revealed in the MCU a.k.a. the Sacred Timeline is fascinating. In the comics she is not a mutant, but an Inhuman, they changed her origins like 95% in the MCU, to the point that her character got rebooted as a mutant in the comics as well
Well, from what I’ve heard, she was originally conceptualized as a mutant, but was changed to an Inhuman because Marvel didn’t have the X-Men film rights, and wanted to push the Inhuman, since they owned their film rights.
Looking forward to your comments on the last half of this show! Thanks so much for watching.

Kamala has single handily become one of my favorites in the mcu. Shes just so adorable and relatable. Same goes for iman too.
"Come with me if you want to live." The iconic line is said in each Terminator film. The line was first delivered in the 1984 film when Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) gunned down the T-800 (Schwarzenegger) and saved Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).
