I'm really looking forward to this series- knowing how to play a faction gives some insight as to how to beat it, but a series focused entirely on hard counters to different factions and races would be fantastic.
Cant agree with you anymore
Hey man, as a new player, I really appreciate these types of videos. So, keep up the good work.
He taught me how to play. Zerks videos are the best
As a VC Main I am VERY salty about this video...
The information is super basic, if you're any good as VC you'll still beat most people... Besides people who need to rely on RUclips videos to figure out tactics usually aren't the best players in the first place. There are also some things in here that really make me shake my head - like the double silver chevron blood knight in the build example. No proper VC player will make his BK's 290 gold more expensive than they already are.
I feel ya.
@@enjoythestruggle people who need to rely on VC to win any battle aren't the best players either. Pwnz.
enjoythestruggle keep telling yourself that. Idiot
Haha agreed. Great video for an anti linear faction. I disagree with blood knights ever being worth the money. There are so many better options to spend your micro on. That and literal focusing on a unit until leadership is broken will disintegrate ANY VC unit
Conquering Sylvania as Empire is so satisfying.
Not as much as conquering reiksland with the vampire counts
@@phantom3969 Landing 10 units of Vargheist's on their walls (Isabella has monsters and Vlad has infantry/cavarly) and picking them apart while their infantry gets annihilated by Purple Sun of Xerxeus and Wind of Death.
Sylvania was a major city of the Empire.
@@buukute??? Sylvania is a province, not a city...
I just wish the cities would change from Vampire skins to proper, respectable Empire skins.
Or that you could raze the entire province and no one else came in and rebuilt it. Give me Empire cities or give me (their) death.
This is a fantastic resource, please do one for Dark Elves soon, those spiky bastards have had it too good for too long.
you really only need 3 things to deal with the spiky boyz:
Armor piercing, armor piercing, and more armor piercing.
And quantities
Empire Engineer: The answer. Use a gun, and if that don’t work...use more gun!
Dawi Engineer: The Answer? Irondrakes. And if that don't work...flame cannons.
Don't you have some shitty spearmen you can toss under their feet too?
Dakka dakka dakka
U need bigger gun
Nuln engineer: there is not a problem in the world that can not be solved with guns.
Thank you, I've been waiting for this type of series.
Plus I know a lot of folks that have been looking for exactly this. Everyone does roster guides, but nobody does how to beat them. Until now.
What a great vid, i'm a very experienced TW player so none of this is new to me but all the combat footage you captured was so compelling and well edited and thinking critically about a game is good regardless of whether the info is new or not. 10/10.
This series is about to be a new favorite of mine. Love your stuff!
There's some really good VC tips in here, like using the wolves to mow down horses.
I wasn't aware that they were so strong against them.
Combined with your faction guides, this gives a really good picture on how to handle any army.
Knowing what beats you and what people will lookout for is just as important as knowing the strengths of your units! :)
*laughs in vampire coast* no artillery for vampires....none at all ;)
We don't need it
@@vladvoncarstein1568 I think he refers to magic as our artillery
Main thing I go with: Kill their Lord and Mortis Engine. Once you kill those two everything eventually crumbles.
Their lords are tanky and equiped with buff/debuff spells to make them even tankier. Focusing their mortis engine is a good idea, but it's not as easy as it sounds. VC has constant fodder to absorb melee charge, and aerial support to harass enemy's backline.
Fire spells are indeed their main weakness. It quickly removes fodder and allows main units to strike more important unit like mortis engine
Wow man, i really like this series. Its also like a guide as to how to play as or against the vampire counts. I‘m looking forward to the other parts of the series.
Best way to know how to do well as a faction is to know exactly how you can beat them.
Know what’s terrifying? Sartoza pirate lady destroying the borderland kingdoms, cutting through Wissenland and Averland with only one army, and declaring war to Karl Franz (me), while I’m in the middle of Sylvania with my 3 armies.
Zerkovich, I would put numbers on the episode titles of this new series. But it's a great idea for a new series! Knowing the amount of effort and skill you put into your vids, it's gonna be great. I have 800hours on the TWWarhammers and I'm still getting a lot of interesting new insights from your channel! Real quality, man.
How win against horrifying monsters?
Your gut instinct here is very very right for once, basically:
KILL IT WITH FIRE!
Or bigger monsters.
to shutdown the vampire counts is to PURGE THEM WITH HOLY FIRE
Edit: Or kill the lord, trust me the undead factions are heavily reliant on their lords, if hte lord goes down then the rest will fall like dominoes
Just got my arse handed to me as Balthasar Gelt by the Vampire Counts in the reworked Empire campaign and this video is incredibly helpful! 🙏 Would love to see an updated guide if you have the time.
Do the Dark Elves next, they seem to have no weakness other than small numbers. Great video ! Can’t wait to see what you have next
Really quality guide, looking forward to the next one! Appreciate the depth of the details, including movement speed of dire wolves for skirmish cav chases and which lords pull ahead in certain contexts. I'd love to hear a bit more clearly delineate which factions have the most and least favorable matchups and why, I know you somewhat covered that low armor, low leadership factions are susceptible, but it's fun to hear your view on which are really the toughest and most easily won contests.
With the new DLC dropping soon, I have been watching as many of your videos as I can so I don't suck as much with Ikit Claw! Keep up the amazing work!
Amen. Stone cold Steve Manfred. A frightening unit indeed.
(Sorry but my english is very bad, i know enough for understand but speaking or writing its hell for me)
:D
you're English is fine, I understood it, and it is not my native language.
@@larsnordstrom364 Thx :)
MrGuamedo que onda yo también habló español, si quieres jugar alguna vez dime ;)
Vladdy may be on foot, but he and his whole army gets Vanguard.
Who needs a horse when you can just walk in their backline
Really don't understand why Mouselloun is not playable.
because the area is cloged enough and we already have vamps rulling the old world by turn 60
VC already have 5 lords, 3 factions, and a closely related faction with 4 more lords. There is a pretty good mod to make Mousillon playable. I think we're done with undead for now, until Nagash and Neferata probably in Game 3.
EmperorPrince While it would be interesting, the problem is that the Red Duke is bretonnian, meaning he loves his horses. Horses and zombies as VC are op, if he buffed the cavalry it would be ridiculous.
This is great. Thank you I would watch all of this series. Well broken down and presented fantastic work
I won a game with just vlad left because he healed so much
once i charged him into 2 units of great swords, and WoD them into oblivion.
@Flekk Bone Gnawer yup, but they still should have gave him a horse at least tho.
Thanks guys, Also I hate horses.
After what happened in Altdorf, I'm not very fond of heights @Flekk Bone Gnawer
@@vladvoncarstein1568 what happened?
I've put over 1000hrs into this game, but I still love watching all your guides. Particularly looking forward to the Skaven shutdown guide, I despise fighting those vermin.
This series is gonna be great, keep up the good work.
Hi Zerkovich, if you play as Dark Elves and just choose a mix of Black Guard of Naggaroth Guard and Hoeth, there is no combination other than selecting all Banshee lord spam to win...and even then it's a slog and little bit of micro.
100% win, it can't be defeated.
I really like this video. I cant wait for the ones to deal with skirmish heavy factions. I really hate facing wood elves for example. :P
I myself love the Wood Elves. Guerrilla warfare is a much-cherished strategy of mine.
The grave guards are really damn good at pumping out damage
They are the top tier for the vampire count
new to the game, deciding i like VC, watched this to get a comprehensive understanding of where my weaknesses are and what i need to be aware of having a hard time against. Quality info.
I love this series idea. This is a great follow up to the army guides
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!
Takes all these tips into battle, only to face Isabella and a bunch of vampires!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
Great guide Zerkovich - please keep these coming, they are so useful.
Its interesting to see the huge differences between the digital and the tabletop, The strats appear to be close in some areas and majorly different in others
I remember expressing interest in a series like this when I first subscribed to the channel, so this is pretty sweet.
Cool techniques and tips there. Id have one addition. When you focus on one of the weaker frontline units to break through and surround them, make sure to stay out of the cast range of the vampire lord OR attack from different angles so your troops arent squeezed together, because vampires always have a high damage area spell against armored units.
Hey Zerkovich ... very much a fan of your usefull and logical advice for playing Total War games....
Keep up the Good Work...
As Empire I'm looking to destroy Mannfred by turn 45-50. You need 4 greatswords in the stack and 2 Reiksguards, 6 crossbows and swords and spears for the other slots but it also actually helps to have pistoliers because you can trick the cavalry to give chase and separate from the stack, allowing you to destroy them. You can alternatively trick some of the bats to chase and get them destroyed way before melee starts. Even if you can't do that, when the knights, bats, and vargheists start their flanking moves, reposition the crossbows to shoot as many as possible of them down, while keeping 1 cavalry unit + 1 or 2 spears on each flank to protect the crossbows. If you can minimize damage from those units on your crossbows and destroy them quickly, this allows you free shooting with the crossbows, you may send them do the flanks or just have them shoot sideways, that still does damage, though not as much. Field a mortar in the stack as it will cause massive damage to the undead infantry in melee and can enable you to reduce the number of crossbows.
Lol, I love the vampire count's battle theme song so much for some reason.
This video is lacking more videos in this series. Keep it up, man!
PLEASE, PLEASE, DO A GUIDE ON HOW TO KILL THAT BLASTED COUNT NOCTILUS!
You don't need to do a guide on how to deal with the Pirate Coast, as I can defeat the other lords pretty handily, but I do not know how to end that wretched Count Noctilus with his endless spam of zombies so that you can't get to his endless backline guns.
You need powerful duellist lords to kill him, but they get picked apart by the Coast guns. If you get a cheap foot lord, he gets sniped by wraithstorm and endless gunfire. If you get a cavalry lord, Noctilus will slaughter him. Caster Lord- Noctilus has better magic than almost anyone.
Please show us how to knock him off his scratching post.
Count Saruman Temple of Luminark
"Being a human"
... well except the vampires who aren't humans.
:)
how to shut down vampire counts:
1 pick high elves.
2 make an army of sea guard.
3 focus fire big boys.
4 spear the rest.
5 wait for rage quit. ;)
My thoughts exactly.
until a update DLC or mod that adds range troops to the counts of sylavina and then your fucked I mean that place has a massive gold mine spot so they can get mercenaries with firearms etc to compensate for the lack of range.
@@TheManofthecross all they need is a unit with 75-100% missile resist.
@@justinsmith9006 that could work to but that would be compensated by something else. either way they are going to go down by range and by fire one way or another.
How do you sleep at night?
VERY thorough guide on VC. One thing you didn't mention was some of the other Vampire Count tools that deal with single entities. Banshees, Wight Kings, Gaze of Nagash. You did mention Terrorgheists and Zombie Dragons to be fair. I think Gaze of Nagash has got a lot of bad rap over time. It's overpriced it's true but is often misused on units that aren't single entities. On enemy lords it can take off a third to half health depending on the lord, especially overcast. I'm saying that as someone who almost never uses a skill point on it in campaign. I probably should though.
And I also think it's worth saying that most of the VC units that appear to have low melee attack for their class give a false sense of security because of Danse Macabre. That spell is quite cheap, basically a Walmart Birona's Timewarp but very effective in turning that low melee attack into something very scary especially on units with high weapon strength like Crypt Horrors or ethereal units. Even zombies summoned on top of crossbowmen or darkshards will make short work of them if they have Danse Macabre active.
The Vampire Count is not simply powerful in battle units, it is the campaign mechanic as well. Compare to the Wood Elve where every settlement have no wall and the garrison is usually small.
"Stone Cold Steve Mannfred."
I will *never* unsee that! 🤣🤣🤣
Infantry only there to fight a holding action to allow other units to disrupt and charge from the rear, strong cavalry, strong air units... The Vampires are just an unchivalrous version of Bretonnia!
Great video. You should continue that series @zerkovich ! High elf or wood elf next ?
This is a great series zerk u might want to do one of these for tomb Kings
I'm probably in for the long haul of doing them all now...
Zerkovich Well I for one will be watching them all. Excellent as always nice work.
This was great video! Thanks for making the time to make it :)
Only just noticed after playing warhammer for hundreds of hours that you can click an up arrow to overcharge spells.
Thank you for the series, I loved your guides and learned a lot from them
Aw yus a new video series :) this is a really great format and I'm keen to see what faction you do next ♥️
This series is a great idea. Can't wait to see more
A Zerkovich video on this day of days, happy birthday to me indeed
very helpful series, could you make one for the wood elves? always find it hard to deal with too many missiles and wild riders running wide around the battlefield
I like the shutdown format. : ). Good job! And thank you !
Really a great video! I would like to see some advises to beat High Elves, specially with Tomb Kings. I am having many troubles when they pick Tyrion... Lot of thanks for your job!
Well... The best way to beat tomb kings are the same as beating VC: assassinate their lords.
High Elves are a lot more difficult, but shields and death wind on Mannfred helps dealing with elite Archers and Infantry respectively.
Exciting news series to come. Quality content as always. Noice. Thank you, my good sir.
Another great series. Looking forward to them.
I struggle against the vampires the MOST. I get angsty every time someone picks 'em.
I play vc main, and I haven't really noticed cheap halberds or single entity monsters as a big problem. I think the most annoying thing to deal with is the skirmisher units, especially things that can shoot on the run. Elite halberds are probably the next most difficult thing to deal with.
A proffessional presentation. Thanks for all your hard work.... :)
Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks for this. Just started to play again and my first Imrik dragon challenge was with undead and the fear just caused killed me from any kind of strategy. I was going to restart to see if I could get a different starting dragon but maybe I'll try again. Last attempt I made it down to the dragon and 1 other character. Maybe now I can win.
I wish they would do a colab with game of thrones and make a white walker faction that would be so cool
Looking forward to the next episode!
Do you have a schedule planned?
That's a Great format I love it.
22:20 nah! Youre forgeting direwolves can catch the skirmisher cav and ruin them , fellbats can also catch them and keept them tied up for long enough to make them a bad investment, although most likely the fell bats will be too busy disrupting artilery and ranged units, or screening the other flying units. I always keep 2 direwolves in a VC army because there is always something extremely weak against them and open to them; worst case scenario i have two fast flanking units with decent damage.
You keep on bringing Elite Infantry until one day. One day, your opponent clogs down your frontline like usual and proceeds to hit it with a well-aimed death wind out of the blue.
best guide i've ever seen, well done
Apparently the AI watched this because they've pinned me in Sylvania for nearly a hundred turns.
siege a VC city is the easiest city since they had no ranged units at all
Very well made! nice one zerk!
Finally something against Lordi's Vampires. Thanks man!
One thing ive learned is that, always bring good frontline units and good shock cavalry
I think the effect of fear’s -8 leadership is usually exaggerated its often not that big of a deal
Blue vargheists remind me of Warcraft 3 gargoyles.
G Bogdan they look like oversized ugly slayers
Hey, just wanted to say I subbed. Keep up the good work brother!
"Just kill the Lord."
"W-What? But what about nuanced strategy?"
"JUST KILL THE LORD."
Man, thank. The A.I. Vampire count always beat A.I. "Empire" faction in my game. Empire artillery are defenseless against AI vampire monsters.
VC has a lot of units with vanguard deployment, making them very good at attacking the standard "melee front" using their direwolves, fell bats, and hexwraiths. That's before you add in the ability to spawn a unit on top of their glass cannons (I'll see myself out for that one)
Stone cold Steve Manfred. I'm dead
It doesn't matter how you deal with them in battle if they have 20 armies of raise the dead zipping around behind your lines, occupying razed settlements and sacking occupied ones.
Love your channel, but not this video
Sorry Vlad. You're not a very nice corpse and you need to be stopped.
Under rated comment right here.
@@Zerkovich Hey! I mean, Vlad is a lovely corpse! Better than most other corpses, at the very least. He's somewhat of an antihero when push comes to shove!
... Plus, I'd take Vlad over the majority of Bretonnian lords, or even the Imperial Elector-Counts. He's not all that bad, if you look past the rotting exterior.

I do not believe a reliable counterplay to lizarbois exists.
I could be wrong.
Great series, please continue.
Hey can you make more videos of this series? It's really interesting
In total war, you have nothing to fear but fear itself.
What about the Empire's Luminarks? Most effective way to counter a vampire army is to take down the lord, as the whole army will crumble afterwards
So basically just use real world tactics frontline of halberds with a butt ton of ranged. So empire their. Dark elves some sacrifices, sorry dreadspears, and overwhelming numbers of darkshards. Don't know what for wood elves. Best option dwarves strategy front line of longbeards and then pick your favorite ranged option and sit back and watch the slaughter. For those of you who like to be cheeky use the vampirates or tomb kings take your pick.
If I may request a video about how to shutdown Chaos? Them buggers are my kryptonit. Especially, but not exclusivly in the campaign.
Love this new series! keep it up
This is awesome! Thanks!!
When I see the Zerk I watch and thumb up. Because he knows how to kill vampires!!!! Mad Lad indeed!!!
Looks cool. But why am I even watching this? I will never play this game lol
Because deep down, you know your a vampire slayer lol
