Sewing. Imho, a much underrated and undertaught skill these days. It's such a practical ability to have. And I know many folks think it's more a feminine thing to learn, but, for instance, I had a brother who was one of the manliest men you might encounter and he could sew. I'd include myself as well. We use, though, a heavier duty Singer for things like sails, leather, upholstery, footwear, bags of various kinds, linings - sewn things are everywhere! Of course, it then becomes very handy to know how to quickly fix a hem, buttonhole, or replace a zipper! 😄 And btw, my favorite fabrics are hemp and flax (linen) - each very "green" and super long-lasting, generational even.
My Mom had a big cloest full of fabric scraps and as I grew up there was always a selection of materials for projects. She was an artist, painter, and master of many skills. My Dad was mechanical and could figure out and fix anything. I'm so lucky to have grown up in my family!
