What a lovely update episode. I remember watching the first episode you did with Penny & June last Autumn. Happy to see that they are thriving in Portugal. Can’t wait to see you guys in September during my scouting trip…I will email you both as the date approaches. I also plan a short turnaround as I plan to move in November. Xoxo

Definitely do that at least a few weeks before you come. Also you should let folks know in the FB groups like Black in Portugal, et al.

I’ve been checking out the Seixal area and seem like and really nice area online. Can’t wait to experience it myself when I get there for the meet up.

Yessss, Wanda, I think Penny and June will be at the Freedom Celebration on June 17th - so make sure you introduce yourself to them.

As a member of the alphabet squad 🤭 I found peace in Bogotá. I can relate to Penny and June and had to adjust to “everyone is included” mentality. Is there a a huge club on weekend for the alphabet squad yes but then we, yes me included bar hop. Wherever you go, gay or straight have an Open Mind!

FINALLY, someone using 'alphabet squad' in a positive manner. Every member of our crew who is gay says they love it here and feel welcome. 😃 Thank you so much for watching and for adding to the conversation. 💕

Welfare in Portugal is only for families or single Mums on low income and unemployed. There’s a lot of support for families and children on low income.

Thank you Anna for the info - I had no idea on the specifics of the 'safety net' here in Portugal, since we will never use it. So it sounds like it is similar to what they have in the US.

It helps your portuguese learning if you grab a book that you like in english and have the same one in portuguese.

I've done that with Spanish. Now that those MBooks 'fairs" are everywhere, I was thinking about getting a couple of children's books.

You can own a gun in Portugal. You need to apply for a license.

Yes, we know, what she meant is you cannot go to Continente and walk out with a gun and bullets that day.

Only if you work with money or there is a real trheat to your life as a private person, then the police can authorise that you carry a gun for personal protection. Hunters can have guns but they are all registered by the local police and are very controlled.
