Afuckingmen. A lot will see running away as being weak or pathetic and cowardly. Not me. I'm 6ft 6 and can look after myself, even though I'm not trained or have any martial art skills. If reasoning with someone or a group fails, then I'm on my toes as my main form of defence. The laughter and names called to my back as I increase distance only hurts my inate sense of pride as a man. But I won't wake up in A&E because someone called me a pussy. If you're cornered, then obviously that's a different situation.

The main issue with Krav Maga as taught for self defense, and the issue with most self defense courses is they last for a couple months of training then people think they are done. You have to keep practicing and training so that if the time to defend yourself comes your body has the muscle memory to kick in, cause your adrenalin will be through the roof and you wont have time to process and any hesitation will be the end of it.

    • @plack_benis382
      @plack_benis382 Год назад +10

That and the variation of trainers. Because not every trainer is equal in any martial art. You could have a kick ass karate instructor and learn to fight better than a bad boxing instructor. I feel that krav maga is especially suspectible to this because from what ive seen its weekend warrior types doing the training, but krav maga was created by the military which is where youll find the best practitioners of it imo

I think he misunderstands what Krav Maga is. It's not "stabbing someone with your keys", necessarily, though it is something nearby. Krav Maga is essentially using the environment in combat as the situation demands. A man lunges to punch you while you're next ot a table or a car, so you block, and throw him over it. You're about to be attacked in your home, but you see a lamp, so you grab that mofo and break it over their head. This isn't to say that Krav Maga is better than MMA, but it seems like Joe didn't understand what it's supposed to be. Whether a Krav Maga specialist or an MMA specialist would win is all up to circumstance and experience.

Krav Maga is really diluted in the US. I attended an online seminar on Krav held in Tela Viv a few years ago and the first thing the instructor talked about was that Krav Maga is extremely diluted in western countries because “Krav Maga’s goal is to teach Jews to survive.” He said that for you to learn real Krav you need to truly understand what’s at stake. When he started demonstrations, he talked about throwing sand in eyes, spitting as a distraction, clawing and biting, he emphasized the use of everything possible to escape. He really made it easy to understand that this is a combat for war, a combat thats soul purpose was to survive at any means necessary.

The stance is unbalanced, and don't get me started on the defense and pisspoor form of their strikes. Think for a few, who's more likely to actually kill, the guy who gets mad, sees red, and claims he'll kill while having no actual training, or the guy who knows how to break all of your limbs with ease and over twenty ways to block blood from coming or going to your brain (which will kill you in second when done correctly)

Well the idea behind krav Maga is purely self defense. Chances are if someone is attacking you on the street, they dont have any sort of training.
The chances you are going to get into a fight with a highly trained fighter is slim to none.
Krav is ultimately the mma of self defense. It assumes an uncontrolled environment where someone could have a weapon, multiple attackers and various ground conditions.

Just like shooting teaches to aim for center mass, the safe bet is to just punch or strike in the face or body. Life or death situation isn't the time to get creative.

Most people don’t understand Krav Maga.
Why was it developed? To enable people with little training and no background to effectively defend themself from most people in hand to hand combat.
It isn’t about being the best fighting style or about being the most technical and dangerous one.
It mainly focuses on ending fights as fast as possible or giving you the opportunity to run (or use your weapon in the military context).
In these things Krav Maga is unbeatable. Half a year and you will have learnt lots of things - and it’s easy to expand your knowledge into different styles. One day of training every week is enough to effectively learn to defend yourself.
With other fighting styles it’s very different. They might be more dangerous or feature more stuff… But it takes way longer to actually be a threat and you need to train A LOT. It needs to be your passion.

Krav Maga is a survival art form. I would describe is as a modern day/survival Jeet Kune Do. What makes this debate silly is that Jui Jitsu is a component of Krav Maga. A person can get ambushed, fall to the ground, and have to fight their way out of it. Krav Maga prepares you for that. Like the Naval Seals, the goal is to get in do your damage and get out. It functions without rules. Jiu jitsu has rules. No one can predict the outcome of a street fight. Anyone comparing the two systems is ignorant of Krav Maga. It welcomes all styles but not all styles apply because this system employs lethal force. It will impair the attacker's ability to stand, breath, and see quite efficiently. In the end if a person slights Krav Maga, he is also sighting jiu-jitsu.

There are a billion other skills that soldiers need much more, and time spent turning them into elite hand ot hand fighters is time better spent on other things.
The meme that military fighting systems are somehow better is honestly, pretty stupid. And it's born out of this "military = badass" meme.
Krav maga is like duct tape. It offers some quick, hyper aggressive techniques and drills for soldiers to use in a pinch. In that context, krav maga is really effective.
It is not a substitute for, more dangerous than, or more effective than actual, dedicated hand to hand training with a rounded curriculum. And people who don't know anything about fighting need to stop pretending that it is.

When I was still in the USAF Security Forces, we didn't have any combative programs at that time. So, I turned in Krav Maga to help me do just that. I'm not saying anything bad about mixed martial arts. It's still effective. But, most people who train in it are taught to follow rules. In a life or death situation, there are no rules. @@ItsAme7143 I think the idea is that it doesn't depend about the style as much as about the skills/level you have. Take someone doing Krav Maga or Systema for some time and put him against "someone really good at BJJ", of course he will lose. But what about someone doing amateur BJJ against a Russian Spetsnaz who trained systems to a high level?

@@bitchface235 I was referring to your comment of most shinobi standing no chance vs a samurai. Considering samurai is a social class and not a job, that is entirely dependent on if the shinobi is also a samurai, and what job said samurai has.
Ashigaru were basically conscripted footsoldiers and were forbidden from having another job. So IDK if they could be shinobi. There very likely were shinobi posing as ashigaru, as they would have needed ears everywhere. However, if you want to be technical 🤓 ashigaru were also known as “samurai of the land” so even if they did become shinobi, they would also be samurai. 🤓
