    I visited Spain once, many years ago, and fell in love with the country. Thank you for sharing your life there with us!

    Loving the story! I wish the me from 30 years ago could have seen this. Maybe the me who watches all his kids become adults over the next 12 years, can take this and learn from it 💪 Just got to work out how to save enough to cover a sabbatical 😉

      Haha...I am figuring it out as well. Even with all the planning beforehand, stuff still pops up. You know how life can be... I have lost a lot of friends and family members and felt like the leap of faith needed to be taken at this point in my life. Not having a tribe of my own at the moment definitely made the decision easier. I am sure that you do a great job raising your kids. Keep it up!

    Feel you, Calvin. Sabbaticals can be so inspiring and healing.
    I get a tiny bit of this feeling riding my bike whenever I leave my home town for some gravel rides in the calm and beautiful nature. While moving in the pace my body and soul desire I realize how beautiful life is.
    Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and what directed you to Girona. It sounds like the perfect place for finding inspiration and peace of mind.
    Thanks for the inspiring ride, Calvin. ❤️

      You nailed it. I get the same feeling on the bike. I feel like it’s a form of mediation. Thanks for taking the time to watch and keep getting those miles in 🧘🏾‍♂️

    what a way to take time out in life. how have you dealt with the language?

    • @SeeSmithTV
      @SeeSmithTV  6 месяцев назад +2

      At first, it was really tough. My Castellano is coming along, though. But my Catalan is almost non-existent. I've decided to focus on learning that after I get a good grasp on Castellano (I think it will make it a bit easier too).

      A quote I always remember… “time is not running out, but your life is”. We can be here today and gone tomorrow. I try to make the most reasonable and responsible decisions within that framework. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to watch 🙏🏾

    Nice one Calvin!
    I would like to know how you started cycling, isn't Girona overpopulated with other cyclists and do you think it's your permanent place to settle down?

    Have you heard of the Haute Route Alps?

      @SeeSmithTV  6 месяцев назад

      Yep! I actually did Haute Route San Francisco a few years ago and loved it. It would take me all day to get up and down the alps, though 😂 Have you done it?

      Haute Route does a really good job with their events. I was impressed. If you have the opportunity to do one, I recommend it!

      Good to hear. I wish here in America we had more stage races. I feel like stage races are a more purer form of cycling than criteriums, but that's just my opinion. Do you have a preference for a certain type of cycling?@@SeeSmithTV

      I agree with you. I feel like we only have Redlands, Gila and Joe Martin left in the states. Although, Maryland classic has come back in the last couple of years. I love watching stage races and one day races, especially the classics.

    You make money to live. You don't live to make money. Your definition of "living" determines how much money you need to make. Once you figure out how much, you can figure out how to. Once you figure out those two, your enjoyment of life can take off exponentially.

    Nice video, was nice to see more cyclists than m0ving vehicles on that ride!
    What does it take to make such a move? What is the typical cost of living there (food? eating out? rent (how much for how much space? etc?). Just curious how much savings needed if one desires to make a similar move (but not asking for your personal finances).

      Ah, man all great questions. I think it comes down to one’s lifestyle. Best advice is to take inventory of how you currently live wherever you are in the world. Then find out the cost of that lifestyle here in Spain or elsewhere in the world. I will add, Girona isn’t exactly inexpensive and it’s becoming more expensive. I’d like to stay in Spain, not sure if Girona will be my forever home though. Hope that helps.
