Is Tadej Pogačar BAD for cycling? I asked Tour de France stage winner Juan Antonio Flecha
Despite just winning the Giro d'Italia, Tadej Pogačar still managed to win his THIRD Tour de France victory at the age of 25. He won 6 stages at the Giro and 6 stages at the 2024 Tour de France. Pogačar has completed the amazing feat of winning two back-to-back Grand Tours...but is his dominance bad for cycling? I asked Tour de France Stage Winner Juan Antonio Flecha this and more.

Should VISMA LEASE A BIKE be ALLOWED to use THIS at the TOUR DE FRANCE?

Visma Lease a Bike has announced that they'll be using a "control room" during the 2024 Tour de France. It will be used to analyze data and support their riders and coaches during the stages. The UCI was quick to respond to this news and is already investigating the van. Do you think this will give them a competitive advantage during the Tour de France? Why Mark Cavendish WON'T Break Eddy Merckx's Record
He just training lmao😂
Even asking a question like this has some sort of backwards mentality... Imagine asking that to the top basket ball teams, top soccer teams, top rugby teams ...
Some folks think Pog’s dominance is “boring” and “predictable”. I am not one of them.
Plus Pogi is colecting money for his team as well, don't forget this!
Lance Armstrong’s dominance was the best thing for cycling. It put cycling on the map and forever changed the sport. Steph Curry has forever changed basketball. Dominance has a larger positive effect on sport than just a random mix of race winners. This has been proven time and time again in any sport
Yea and the ongoing battle between him and Jonas makes it even more interesting. I’m already looking forward to next year’s Tour.

In every Generation there will be an athlete that will be well above everyone. Tadej is our Athlete, what is funny none of this criticism happened last year when Visma dominated all of cycling last year. Pogi is great for cycling and as a fan and cyclist I am enjoying this. We will never see this dominance not for a long time after he is gone
I agree. He has been really fun to watch this year and I’m already looking forward to seeing him and Jonas go at it in next year’s TDF.
I consider that pogacar is very good for cycling not for his individual level but for the media impact that he generates but also as he can be winning all year at a high level he generates that his rivals of renown those who can really beat him by level have to be at 200% physically and mentally to be able to beat pogacar in the big races like vingegaard in the grand tours , remco , van der poel , van aert in the classics. And joans vingegaard deserves more respect than he has at the moment, let's not forget that he is the only rider in the world who can beat pogacar in grand tours. Obviously he didn't win the tour this year but his tour de france is a real feat to finish 2nd in the Tour de France, the most fiercely contested race in the world, when 3 months ago you were in hospital. And in such a short time to come back and be the one who has been the closest to pogacar, also winning a stage and the way he won it is a huge merit. And I have no doubt that Jonas in 2025 will come back stronger than ever to try to win the tour again.
I think Jonas will definitely come back stronger next year. Remco too! Seeing him cry after the TT showed me how emotionally invested he is. I think this was a great first TDF experience and performance for him.
👏🏽
Is Pogačar's dominance good or bad for cycling? Let us know what you think 🤔
His best climbing Lt. is a classics rider. Jonas was given a short stick this TDF for sure in almost every regard.

Jorgensen has been great all season but that's been the point. He's been racing full gas all season and Visma have had to rely on him. But this is out of his range, I think. One weekers, he's great but going hell for leather in the mountains for three weeks, especially without someone like Van Hooydonck in the valleys, it's been tough for them. They just don't have the team. But it ain't over. Col de la Bonette and a tough climb up to Isola on stage 19, another tough stage on 20 and the TT is still a tough one, you never never know.
It’s over. I think expecting Jonas to increase in form in such a way as to make up significant time in the mountains without climbers is illogical at this point.
Yea, I think it’s a tall order… Today’s finish was right up his alley and Pog never really looked like he was under pressure. With a 3 min gap, we’ll see though, still a week left with more mountain stages to come. Anything can happen at The Tour.
Is The Tour de France OVER? 🤔Let us know your thoughts.

Great interview!
Thanks for watching and hanging out with us!
Keep grinding, man! I think more videos like this will get your subs up!
Thanks and thanks for taking the time to watch!
It wasn’t intentional. He’s just a dangerous & reckless sprinter. No concern for other racers!
Sure seems that way! Personally? I think he had the right to "close the door" being ahead, but it just seemed kind of cheeky to do it this way, especially for intermediate sprint points. Luckily Bini saw that barrier and corrected. Kind of foolish for the organizers to have them set up like that as well. Lots of factors. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@SeeSmithTV The real travesty this year is we won’t get to see Girmay beat Philipsen on the Champs-Élysées considering we get a time trial in Nice for the final stage.
@@Atlanta_Cyclisttrue, but if the top 3 GC spots stay close-ish, I feel like that TT stage is going to be 🔥 check out todays stage if you haven’t already. I won’t say anything else so I don’t spoil it.
Organizer’s fault
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Kinda weird (and dangerous) that they had them set up that way.
Do you think this was intentional OR is this the fault of the organizers? 🤔
Sitting at 232 watts today. My goal is to reach that number by the end of the year.

How did you move to Spain successfully? Did you get a DN visa or using your tourist visa?

I honestly believe that those who question Vingegaard don't know his running style. It is a reality that jonas is a much more mental than emotional guy in other words he runs much more with his head than with his heart. Unlike pogacar and remco who are the opposite, they run more with their heart than with their head.
@@Diego-gx1zn for sure and we saw some of that yesterday from all three.
I am really surprised at how well Jonas is riding after his crash. We are in gor a Tour for the ages. I really have enjoyed your work here. Flecha is a super interview. Keep it up!
I am too. That crash was horrendous! Thanks for hanging out with us and taking the time to watch!
last year pogacar lost tour bevause he wasnt enough prepared.. this year is same for vingegard! i think pogi will follow vingegard in alps easy
I’m really looking forward to it. We’re in for a treat. This Tour has been really good.
Do YOU think Remco is a true GC threat? Let us know what you think about this or any other topic we covered!
Pancakes anytime of the day is all good!
Couldn’t agree more!
Clean.
Absolutely you are wrong, because Biniam girmay is the King in Tour de France 2024!
Yes, and I’m loving it! 🇪🇷 De Lie has been consistently knocking on the door, but Bini is ROLLING.
Would be interesting to hear what Mads Pedersen thinks about that sprint. Pedersen is now out of the Tour after the crash that resulted. The real problem, AGAIN, was Philipsen, who once again chopped someone into the barrier. Philipsen should be sent home and he should not be permitted to race again until Pedersen is 100% healed and able to return to racing. The Alpecin management, which is on camera stating they don't care about violating rules so long as it gets them wins, should be severely fined and kicked out of the cars on-course for at least one stage too.
Yea, Philipsen has a long track record of these types of dangerous moves
amazing tour. amazing cav, amazing bini. Love!
@@jgannon1637 this really has been a GREAT tour de france. From the GC battle to the sprinters!
UCI obviously thought it was wrong, but no guts to go against Cav on his 35th win. They did "warn" both Jasper and Cav for this sprint. I would not have religated anyone. Mads was really cool he said this is racing and what happens. Just a shame that we lost him from the race. As you said you would have to religate 5-6 riders. And to my knowledge that has never been done before. The rule is there to protect riders and it failed here. But then there is no way to make sprinting "safe" at least it is not like the days of Abdoujaparov. But we still have Jasper and Groenewegen who have well earned reputations for being dangerous. Thanks for the video ☮️
And thank you for watching the entire video and leaving a thoughtful comment! 🙌🏾after I made the video, I learned that Bauhaus was relegated on this stage. I guess the UCI just likes to keep us guessing 😂
Phillipsen followed him through a smaller gap and he was the one that caused the crash. Not cav.
He will win Stage 8!
I’m watching now. He’s been knocking on the door, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he does.
he was in open space and did impede anyone. the crash was way behind him. not his fault if the other pilots could not react quickly. he has nodirect action to cause that crash. it was a group reaction to his hisfinal move so its a NO.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Update on your predictions would be great
Flecha and I are filming another episode tomorrow. I should have it up by Monday. I’ll include it in that.
Videos up with the pick predictions included and more. Grab a snack and I hope you enjoy.
Of course not.
Relegate the spoiled brat. His deviation was so overt.
Do you even know anything about cycling??????
No, nothing. Thanks for asking though.
Cav's move did not cause Pederson's crash. The other riders' reaction to Cav's move are what led to the crash. Cav himself didn't endanger anyone.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
If Chris Cornell was a pro cyclist
he clearly didn't hold his line - as the rules command. And the guy who followed his wheel causing a crash behind him was relegated - why then only one guy? And more important: he bumped many fellow riders out of the way before, and therefore he should have relegated - it's simply a joke that they relegated Bauhaus when in fact Cav bumped him twice... way too many crashes, and some of them are because of ruthless riding, the judges should be much straighter to prevent crashes. Btw, the Phillipsen relegation the next day was absolute correct, his sprints are almost criminal...
He had a clear line and didn’t endanger any other rider, other riders following him isn’t his fault. Clean win.
I think the relegation of Bauhaus was ridiculous!
