  • In this video you're going to see four of Iceland's black sand beaches, including Reynisfjara (0:00), which in the past, appeared on the top ten list of National Geographic as one of the Top 10 most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world! It features basalt columns, rock formations jutting out of the ocean, and dangerous waves. Star Wars: Rogue One and Game of Thrones were filmed here. Next, we visit Diamond Beach (2:10), which is called that because chunks of glacier ice sit atop the black sand. These pieces break off from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float across the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, then deposit on the beach. Next we see scenic Dyrhólaey (4:11), which is a 120-meter (394 feet) high promontory, not far from the town of Vík. You can see puffins flying around here. Our last stop (4:49) is unnamed, but it also features a black sand beach, just another example of the natural beauty of Iceland.
