"No interruptions, we're all alone 'cause I don’t have a cellular phone." Man, that line goes hard in today's society! Hands down my top 3 all time favorite Deelite songs
Lady Miss Kier in this video...stunning, the perfect rave girl 94. She was still stunning when I met her in 2005, she was DJ-ing in a bar in Germany, great selections and she was very friendly, told me the names of some of the tracks I didn't know.
I love lady miss kier, you are so lucky to have met her! I do have to say that from my experience of being a raver in the 90s that NONE of us ever looked THAT good after coming out of a warehouse at 7am!
@@danadoozer9990 lol maybe going IN to the warehouse but you're right, not when we emerged 10 hours later, blinking into the sunlight with large black pupils and dazed expressions. I consider myself very lucky (she was DJ-ing for a friend of mine who ran the bar). What struck me about her was this mix of..she was now a very real and beautiful woman in her early-40s, dressed more casually (I think some kind of faux-fur coat and dress) but you could still see elements of that cartoon-like 60s vamp of the Groove Is In The Heart video in her, naturally in her movements.
THIS WHOLE ALBUM IS SIIIIIIIICK!!! and so under the radar, people didn't even know they were still around after 'Groove is in the Heart'. This is a mandatory summer album for me, still holds up and FINALLY found a copy on vinyl 12 yrs ago. Lady Miss Kier became a drum & bass dj and toured raves around the world singing live over the dnb records, it was amazing! DJ Towa Tei has cool solo albums too.
And nearly went bankrupt after stupidly trying to sue Sega, saying that their character Ulala was based on her which could not of been further from the truth.
There was this tiny sliver of time where the world was perfect. Everything was bright and beautiful. Joyous. Subcultures were expanding and coming together. The Berlin wall had fallen and the constant fear we all grew up under was gone. And then...the internet. 😢
I was a small child when this song aired, but I remember thinking something along the lines in the '90s: "it's so awesome to grow up in a unified, post-Civil Rights non-racist world!" Since then, age has taught me that the negatives that the internet highlights were always there, they never went away. People are simply more aware of what's out there than before.

My love to Deee-lite started with this video. Saw it by chance, in Oblomov Cafe, very late night TV program, in 1995. It was the sound I had been waiting and searching for the whole of my life! Of course, at that time I didn't know such words as funky, house and etc. But still, this fantastic positive video and magic funky hip-hop sound brought its own fruit. Since than I started learning dance and house music more profoundly!! ✨️👍
This is the best Deee- Lite album, l love all the other albums they put out but this one was a classic best. I saw them in concert the year Dew Drops in the Garden came out, which was pretty cool, it was a big rave party / Deee-Lite as the headline act. This album definitely shaped and inspired my fashion and hair style choices very strong during this era of the 90's. This song brings back some really fun memories. The whole album is dope, a total underground classic.
Trailblazing track and vibe... they were so ahead of their time. Her skills as an MC were so underrated. Her flow on this track is everything 😍... I wore this cassette out and had to buy another one.
Could actually have this on repeat all day. it goes beyond sublime, you all know that moment where it does! How on earth this is already 30 years old too - it feels like yesterday, it feels like the future.
Definitely bringing this back this summer, as my summertime grove. Every year I have a song for that first beautiful summer day when the windows in car come down and the music turns up. Last year was Will Smith Summertime, Deee-Lite gonna get the respect they deserve for next few years as my Summertime jam.
This song captures the Sunday hazy comedown with friends feeling after spending all Saturday morning jazzed about a party, and all Saturday night taking E and dancing with your friends. The song that's sampled before this one starts... That's Saturday night.
If Lady Miss Kier ever see's this.. please know you are everythang.. style icon fashion and music. Thanks for helping me jam my way thru my awkward younfer years🤣😍💯❤

Madame Kier was The QUEEN of Raves in the 90's. Old school, when raves weren't mainstream yet and it was mostly Trance and House Music. Before all the Industrial techno started dominating the scene, which I, personally, didn't care for much at all. Then it stopped being underground, Bridge and Tunnel began to fade- and the original allure faded with it. But it WAS way fun- while it lasted... I hung out with her a few times when my friend Chris Martin was hired to be one of her backup dancers for Deee Light in the early 90's. She was the headline attraction with Deee Light at my friend Jason B.'s (RIP) event when he threw the biggest Rave on the East Coast to date as of 93 or 94- can't remember which 🤪🤣😂. But I DO remember that it was EPIC, full stop. He was a really popular DJ, went by DJ Sun... obviously a play on his real name. Jason and his business partner Loni had created Ultraworld and threw huge raves all over the world 🌎. We raised some International Hell, to say the VERY least. And loved every second of it. this morning I had this very vivid dream where I was entering an underground garage and an awesome party was happening there. This song was playing loud and beautifully, I felt such a happiness that almost cried. That party was the last one happening in that building and you could bring home all the furniture you wanted. When I was leaving the garage after the party ended I remembered the feeling when I got there listening to this song and started to feel so nostalgic and sad that I woke up. Our little excursion picnic in the park
Feet in the grass until it gets dark

The pop sickle stick is finally smooth
Hop on a lily pad for the summer groove
Walking arm and arm, so glad you came along
Check out the curly vine
The blanket was too small
But you call me baby doll
I could kiss you all the time
Watchin people have a good time
Watchin people have a good time in the summertime
Flying picnic blanket in the summer groove
No interruptions we’re all alone
Cause I don’t have my cellular phone
Sweatin your pose, wiggling your toes
Come at me like a panther
Cause you know yes is my answer
My mind is in the dirty making mud pies
The heavy heat stretch opened my eyes
You don’t need a subway token
Nature’s fee remains unspoken
The sun is shining through the leaves
On the wild flowers in the weeds
