This was amazing to watch. Thank you!
Incredible! Thanks!
You're Welcome! Thanks for watching 😄
Justo lo que estaba buscando, gracias 👍
Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful.
You're welcome! Thanks for the support :)
This was very helpful! Using the quick mask mode is way faster than the channel mixer method everyone else is using. Plus, I have been able to use it to select just faces in images where the rest of the picture was turned into a nice painting, and regenerate the face again and again until I get a good render by using the quick mask to change the selection to 30% opacity. Then your watercolor brush finish is such a great addition, thank you! Subscribed!
Thank you! Yes I find the quick mask much faster and easier than using the channels technique. Glad I could help 😊
awesome
i tried 50 times, and it doesn t work. basicaly the generation take over the image. and i followed the steps exaclty
Same here, Absolutely DOES NOT work...
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. I have tried in the latest version of PSD and the feature still works. If it is taking over your whole image then sounds like an issue around the selection/quick mask stage.
Sub'in you. Your the only one who showed me how to activate the Tontectual Task Bar located in Window dropdown at the top of Photoshop. Been struggling with for 3 weeks, downloaded it 6x's & still could not get it on my canvas Thank you! ❣
Thank you, I’m glad I could help! Really nice to hear 😊
anything add-on will be found in the window section
Belíssimo
the quick mask is not working for me. I don't get the red show up when i select quickmask and when i do the gen fill it makes a completely different picture
Hey, sorry to hear you're having problems. Make sure to follow all the steps, especially the step about creating a 30% brightness foreground colour as that is what stops gen fill from creating a different picture.
Thanks you
It just makes everything blue for me in generative fill :(
when you start this tutorial you have a blank background layer and the image. Can you explain what you have done? when i get to where you mask off the background and turn off the original image my back ground is not white it is checkard. please help as i want to use this to make a watercolor of my dog that i put down two days ago. Thank you in advance!!
When you open a new photoshop file you should have a background layer already showing. Then all you need to do is go File > Place Linked and then select your image. Hope this helps :)
i am getting stuck here to
@@Studio.Shephrd hi, i also get stuck here. when i open photoshop file it only has the one layer, the chosen image. the generative ai just replaces the whole image.
@@julie-rk8jk It is not clear at this point. I don't have the white layer with the downloaded parrot. What do we do? I'm stuck because it's not clear. Please help us. This is not working as is. Mine does not turn out correctly after following every step because I don't have the white layer. Do you have the newest 2024 version? There was just a recent update and my generative fill is a little different than yours. HELP US, PLEASE. SOME OF US HAVE NEW UPDATE SO THIS COULD BE INTEFERING WITH THIS TECHNIQUE. PLEAES ADIVISE. NO WATER COLOR EFFECT.
@@Studio.Shephrd This does not help those who don't get a white later background. what should we do? Thanks
I liked your approach. But when I tried your steps the quick mask did not create a new layer and the generative fill was not applying the water color to the photo.
It's not you. actually had created an action months ago and produced some stunning watercolor facsimiles. When I tried the action again with the updated beta the action just creates a blue watercolor (blob) layer with no transparency reference to the original at all. Even starting from scratch doesn't work no matter what method I try (channels or mask). Adobe changed this for some reason.
I was having the same problem until I notice on the tutorial the layer had the smart object icon on it. So I converted the layer to a smart object and the masked work.
@@markmierzejewski2417 Nope, your method is not working, at least for me.
When i click generate, it generates random abstract watercolor panting, not using the main image as reference :(
Sorry to hear you’re having troubles. Make sure you’re creating a transparent quick mask that gen fill is being applied to. This is an important step that stops it from generating something completely new.
@@Studio.Shephrd yes friend, I’ve followed exactly the way you did, don’t know why isn’t working, gonna try it again later
@@valhallacreativeagency5213 check out this video which uses a slightly different technique to create the transparent quick mask. Might work better for you? ruclips.net/video/XX7eNnrUs_Y/видео.htmlsi=9T_K5WRDiWQH2dJ8
If you accept the latest release of Photoshop, it breaks this ability. April 23, 2024, I believe. The new version implements "reference image" like Firefly 2 and does away with AI paint based alpha referencing. The tool for reference image works decently, but conforms to its interpretation rather than holding on to the original pixels as desired.
Yes, it is so frustrating!!!
@@CarolineJensen I have a PC version of the beta not updated and could pull off the task. But Adobe went a good 2 steps forward and a good 2 steps backward. The reference image function is actually solid while "not what I was looking for."
I wonder what the non-beta version is doing; I only have been using the beta.
I wish I'd have known this feature would not work after an update!! Have you found another way to do this? I'm so disappointed.
@@H2J08 I threw everything I had it. Sucks!!! I also tried using a photo as a Reference but while that give you structure, it's NOT painting your pixels. The whole reason! Like, why can't we have both????
@@H2J08 It currently works with the standard non-beta version but I assume it will get broken once PS is updated with the beta "features".
It givs me an error while trying use generate tool :( is says: "This feature is not available"
Hi, check you have the latest version of Adobe Photoshop installed from cc. Watch through the steps again and make sure you didn't miss any. Hope this helps :)
Likely you need to make sure you have Photoship Beta version.
I tried this on several photos of people and the results I get are diabolical - making the subjects look as if they’ve been hit by a truck
I doubt that this technique works on human images
i have new version but dont have it why
Hi there, what are you missing?
@@Studio.Shephrd i dont know i hva new version and the brush also not work
Please revise this lesson as some of the steps were missed, such as how to add a background layer to another layer where it just appears
When you open a new photoshop file you should have a background layer already showing. Then all you need to do is go File > Place Linked and then select your image. Hope this helps :)
Why is no longer working? It only generates a blur abstract image with blue hues at the end. Any news when Adobe is going to bring back this watercolour effect? It's frustrating to give you a feature and then take it back, while it was perfectly working!!
Also, do you suggest any other quick method for a watercolour effect? Thank you in advance!
Really disappointed to find that this doesn't work in the current version of Photoshop.
I used to have an action set that would do something similar but I can't get that to work either😢
Yeah, you need to get Photoshop Beta version. If you have Photoshop already you should be able to get it without paying extra.
Beautiful! To be able to make watercolor paint like you did, do I need both Photoshop US$22.99/mo and then ad Adobe FireflyUS$4.99/mo? You have downloaded the app and Firefly seems to be an online app. Appreciate if you can help me.
Hey, firefly is built into Photoshop so you don’t need to buy both. Photoshop has generative ai that uses the same engine as firefly.
@@Studio.Shephrd Great! Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
Pretty OK... ... ;)
Thanks … ;)
why using quick mask?
We want to create a transparent selection to basically create a filter overlay. Otherwise you will replace the whole image. You can also use channels to create a transparent selection.
im having trouble with the AI they all come out looking the same (pencil drawings, water color, modern art) they all just look bad with zero texture
Filter Forge has had this filter for over 10 years.
