This is definitely my most favorite song by Atif. It gets me in the feels everytime I hear it. Just his voice, the strings and the damn lyrics make me feel something that I can't express. Atif's voice feeds my soul.
Chana is actually meaning "Moon", a Punjabi language word. Atif has 101 different methods of delivery, he is truly competent. And his voice is soothing.
Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece, probably one of my most favorites. These lyricism of Pakistani music are just magical, one can make many interpretation from it. If you love this you would definitely like Miyan Ki Malhar from same season. The instrumentation along with rain like melodies and amazing singing by 3 female artists makes it magical. Also, get well soon bro 👍
CHANAAN=from Punjabi (the regional language of Punjab Province in Pakistan) Chan, meaning moon, therefore Chanaan meaning O my moon=O my Darling. BUT, PAR CHANAA DE, the title of the other song you are referring to at 11:39 is Chanaa is derived from Chenab (a river in Punjab (Panj=five, aab=water, or land of the five rivers), therefore, PAR CHANAAN DE means Across the river Chenab.
@@cojakrappaar chana de depicts one of our famous folk stories, where a girl crosses the river chenab to the other side to meet her lover, in a mud pot for water, as her family was in pottery business. One day, her sister in law gets to know about this and she replaces the baked mud pot with an unbaked one. When Sohni wents out in that unbaked clay pot, it melts while crossing the river, and she drowns in the middle of the way, in the river, infront of her lover mahinwal, who is on the other side and can't swim, he also jumps into the river to save her, and both died.
Idk if you have heard of Peter Gabriel or not, he is master musician and has worked with the likes of Jeff Buckley. According to that man, Atif has the best falsetto after Jeff Buckley himself. Listen to Bol by Peter and Atif. The falsettos and backing vocals along with the urdu vocals were entirely Atif
Nice detailed reaction. I requested you earlier to react on ” Kadi te hans bol ve " by Atif Aslam. It’s a unique enjoyable song. Still looking forward to your consideration.
CS season 6 was a very experimental one.. so it had musicians from different parts of the world.. the thing you thought was a harp was perhaps an African instrument.. as you go through more CS s6 songs.. you will discover more interesting instruments like that!
There are so many different words for darling in Punjabi and Urdu like Channa, Janu, Jan, Jani, Mehboob, Mehbooba, Sohni, Sohniye, Sayyan, Sajan, Sajni, Makhna, Mahi, on and on and on
You should definitely react to Miya ki Malhaar by Coke Studio Season 6, which is based on rain, with the initial rainfall as well as thunderous rainstorms intimated with electric guitar, it's really amazing. The whole season is breathtaking especially this song and Miya ki Malhaar. You'd really love it 💕💕💕
ve "Channa" means, O My Moon Channa is a Punjabi version of "Chand" Chand is a word from Urdu which means the Moon The other song "Par Channa de" There is different meaning for that, Channa in that song is referred to the Channab River, Par Channa de means "On the other side of Channab"
Actually everything is said by a girl for his beloved person who would never come. He may come or may not she isnot sure. And she isnot afraid of breaking ties. She says I am afraid. I have faith in you please don't break my faith in you. And she said I am in love with waiting for you. So is so much in love with her person that she writes his name on her arm and keep kissing it all day long. And she waits for him. This song is everything.. So painful and lovely at same time
The part where you mention that you’re afraid that life has an end and is finite while the lyrics claim that we never break ties. Well our songs are reflective of culture and tradition which in return is reflecting the religion Islam. In Islam this life is temporary and we await what the real life “afterlife” is going to be. The souls we love in this life will follow us in the afterlife too, hence the constant mention of never leaving.
Religious fanatics destroyed the land of indus valley civilization or else it can be the cultural capital of the world ....culture and native languages are so rich most of the people don't know.....I m from india panjab

beautifully explained, + there is another "chana" means chickpeas that we eat, but is pronounced differentely ("n" with lighter sound)...!😁
wow, this is hard to keep in mind.
