It makes me so happy that we're back with another Coke Studio song. Atif Aslam was on the channel a couple of times and I knew what to expect, but Qayaas really surprised me with his shouting voice. There were some interesting rhythms happening in this track and the lyrics have a double meaning on love to a person or to the creator. Conclusively the performance was stunning and the whole arrangement amazing once again.

Charkha = spin
Naulakah = 9 lac i mean 9 hundred thousand...
Naulakha = the name of a necklace once whose price was 9 lacs (900,000) i.e very precious
In this song the spinning woman is saying my spin is as precious to me as a nulakha haar (Precious necklace).
N the reason she told was because in her beloved absence she used to miss him while spinning. This makes her spinwheel, her friend her confidant as she has shared memories of her beloeved with it.
Umair Jaswal was the lead vocalist of the heavy metal/Hard rock band Qayaas
The song was tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and led zeppelin.
P.S Qayyas is the band and 2nd vocalist is Umair jaswal. And yes Qayyas was a progressive rock band
This song is metaphorical. You can't understand it in literal meaning.
Season 1 to 7 are on the original/ first producers channel. His name is “Rohail Hyatt” he directed the first 7 seasons and season 11&12
Coke studio was a show on mtv, so the songs originally didnt premier on RUclips.
The director put it on his own YT. After RUclips started to become more popular than tv and I believe Rohail Hyatt left theh opened an official channel.
So the first few seasons and bts you will find on the Rohail Hyatt channel.
Edit:Rohail Hyatts channel was the original channel. So the quality is not as good because it’s old and it was filmed for tv.
He made sure the videos had subtitles. Because on tv they didn’t have it.
He is also the reason We know Atif Aslam. His fist solo song was with Rohail Hyatt in the coke studio season 2 I believe.

In lyrics a woman is pining for her husband / beloved who has gone far. And she is running charkha (spinning) and remembering him in each spin.
For this reason this spin is now her confidant, whom she shared her secrets that now this spin is more precious to her than hundreds n thousands of rupees. "Charkha naulkha" means "Spin whose worth is 1 million"

Btw, "Charkha" means loom, the traditional cloths making machine. Which the lyrics come back to again n again with the "spinning the wheel".
"Nau Lakha" means 900,000. The translation of the title will be literally "My loom is worth 900,000 rupees".
It is a deeply spiritual poetry, where the loom is metaphor for my soul/being which creates reality with each spin of the wheel. And it is priceless.

10:50 protector ... because the lyrics are from a woman speech. In urdu/punjabi there is gender difference between male female adjectives n verbs. E.g. I came will be translated as "mein aya" by a male and "mein aai" by a female. So a woman is singing for her beloved so thats why by protector she meant her husband

100,000 = one lakh. 900, 000 = nine lakh, which is also called Nolakha in this song. There is an anecdote that in the past time the rich were called lakhpati because they had more than 100,000. And at that time it was considered to be a very big big amount to have and the person was considered to be crazy rich. Now, 9 charkha no lakha in my thoughts was some spinning machine which at time was the most advanced and very costly. Similarly there is a legend of 'nolakha haar', which means a gold necklace worth 900,000 rupees. Which was crazy. Now, why did they say beyond compare in the lyrics because; it was really really hard to get and own something that precious and costly. I hope this explains something.
