Ben is such a cool dude… seriously, a pro world tour racer taking the time to educate and share some of his workout and nutrition processes speaks volumes… btw, Ben looks like he didn’t break a sweat, your jersey looks like you’re totally spent… lol… wishing Ben all the best… 😎🍻
Super video Tristan and super performance from Ben. TTT start wasn't great but holding the wheel of Rog on Sierra Nevada was a real highlight for me. Finishing 8th in a grand tour against some of the best in the world is a super achievement.
Great video as usual Tristan! Ben rapidly become one of my favorite riders since last year and you are an amazing individual very humble and a great rider too! Your videos and your videos with Ben are always fantastic and very inspirational😊
Great video. Be very proud of yourself for being a stellar athlete. I started back cycling after 30 years. Now I am 67 but don't feel like I am that old. I am in awe of your power abilities. I just hit 200 watts ftp. I don't know how much more power I can gain before my age won't allow me to grow but I won't give up. And one day maybe next year I can contact you about buying a BMC Teammachine. Always enjoy your videos.
Geez these vids are good mate. So much to like and be excited about Ben. I watched him closely at the worlds on my home roads and love every minute of it. My god it looks like the perfect training ground there 👌🇦🇺
Another treat of a video, but this one it is probably the best!!! Ben is great! At that level no one is so open about his training. You are a beast as well...trying to keep up and FILMING at the seme time.
Interesting video. I'm always way too focused on riding hard to think of talking at all. So these videos offer a great perspective to hear vlog content from someone who rides hard and can still be able to think of what to say properly... Rather than those channels that just "ride around."
Really cool that you had the opportunity to ride with Ben. While you may have felt inadequate, I assure you that you're a great climber in the non pro world. I would still be on the first climb a week later. With my style of riding, I'd be much happier doing a training ride with Cav or Sagan. At least when they do a sprint, they'll only drop me for a few hundred meters and then I can get back on. Anyway, great video and it was unfortunate that Ben didn't do as well as expected in La Vuelta.
would be nice to have a video where Ben (or any GT riders) talks about the nutrition during a grand tour, and how they manage fueling differences between big mountain days, flat ones and TTs
Thanks Sean. I generally don’t speak to the camera when cars are around and cut out parts where they go past, but on the whole, these climbs are very car-free. Especially the first 3..I think we saw 10 cars in total on those climbs.
They tell me the green Jersey winner TDF from a couple years ago showed up at the group ride (USA) more than a decade ago. He didn't get a start on this year's tour. Resident of Isle of Wright! He was then unknown. I did practice standing starts with an Olympic selectee for the Kilometer. Talk about outmatched!
I was watching with the sound off, but your subtitles were really badly set up. Most of the time they were out of view, on the lowest part of the screen. I love you and Ben's presentations, and the knowledge he inputs. I will watch it again. Next time with sound.
Nice video Tristan 😀 do you know why Ben did not ride the Tour of Burgos? Was it his decision or the team decision? I had the feeling that Ben could have done better in the first climbs withe some race days in the legs cause obviously he was among the bests in the second half of the race. The team around him didn’t support him unfortunately 😕
"To prepare for a race there is nothing better than a good pheasant, some champagne and a woman. " - Jacques Anquetil....sounds like a much better training plan I reckon 👍
I competed in the late 1970s, early 80's. I tried to do specialty training each day, with training races four days a week. I raced track every week, and UCI race on Sunday. Racing is different than training, that is true. Much more pressure to be successful. I was an extreme sports guy, but organized competition was contrary to my rebellious nature. I have more fun out of competition. Surfing, skiing, rock climbing, etc, are more to my liking. I did cycling for fun. It was fun, but being UCI licensed restricts what other sanctioned events of other sports that can be participated in. Sometimes I did tri's, but, they were too fun to miss. I love cycling, and still follow pro races, both men and women.
Great video mate. He finished top 10 in that race; he does that to 90% of the peloton. Keep your head up. He gets dropped too, don't forget he knows the feeling too. Ps. You look a little salty 🤷🏼♂
Hello, Mr. Trrstin is there any chance to discus Corona Virus which is how effect the body and what is the best progress to back high level performance?
Quick question- does Ben (or any other world tour riders you knock about with) always ride in Team Kit? Just seems like they would get a lot of attention from other riders and not be able to focus on their training (day at work,so to speak) as much as they would in a black bibs and a random jersey
Not just world tour, either. I’m in a very low level amateur team. About the only sponsorship we get is kit and some of our local race entry fees paid. We are expected to always wear the sponsored kit - every ride through the year.
Comment/Q for Ben, is there any value in riding a 15kg road bike with 7 gears and keeping the superlight 6kg bike for strava and races (everything else being equal)? cheers.
Is it useful to train in such conditions with a weighed down bike with heavy wheels and slow tires? Or is that old school stuff and training should be done in the exact same conditions and equipment as racing?
A lot guys use heavier wheels and tyres in training but more for puncture protection and durability. As long as the correct watts are being pushed during intervals, the equipment doesn’t make too much of a difference..lighter equipment will just move faster. Interestingly this is also closer to the feeling of racing and in my opinion is what more guys should be aiming for.
These videos with Ben are so good. Such a likable guy.

Thanks for the video. Huge respect for Ben. Top rider who is literally standing next to the best. Wish him all the best.

Yes. Ben went very well in a tough tour - loved it.
Good luck Ben!
Very cool to have this intimate look into Ben's training. Great vid as usual. 👍🏿👍🏿
Always Great & Always nice to have Ben on the videos! Congrats to Ben on riding a great Vuelta! We were rooting for him daily!!
Great 1 on 1 footage and insight with a rider of Bens calibre, seems like a cool guy too 👍🏼
Cool video really enjoyed it cannot help but cheer for Ben now in stages. Enjoyed the nice chilled music too you music choices are 👌
I know it's work for you guys. But you've just provided me with 12 minutes of holiday vibe. Thnx!
The Vuelta was a master class on over / unders. Thanks for the vid !
Another Tuesday treat Tristan! Congrats to Ben on a great Vuelta, keep up the good work!

"Just ride hard and feel fast" 💪
mega production here as per yush! hugs from Guatemala
Thanks Tristan and Ben!!
Nice vid and enjoyed the music. Top 10 at Vuelta v impressive as well as keeping up with top tier riders like Roglic and Evenepoel
Another treat of a video, but this one it is probably the best!!! Ben is great! At that level no one is so open about his training. You are a beast as well...trying to keep up and FILMING at the seme time.
Fantastic as always, loved the tuneage as well😊
really like the vlogs ! very entertaining and love the view and info .
That just shows the pros are not human! Great video Tristan. 👍
I love your videos !! It's so amazing watching you climbing in my country.
Good stage for Ben in Sierra Nevada. Good guy this Been 🤙🤙
Awesome insights, Tristan. The salt on the jersey told a story...:)
Keen to see Ben in my home town wollongong this weekend for worlds
Very fit Ben super smooth cadence
They are mental. That's why they're pros. Thanks for the video.
You guys never disappoint! Awesome as always

BANGIN INTRO TUNES MAN
lets all remind ourselves that TTV is doing these steep climbs 1 handed while filming..and hanging with a legit world tour hitter!

I made one 3 episodes ago touching on almost exactly this..
😂😂
Another awesome vid ! I would say I’d like to meet up for a ride sometime but I’m pretty sure I’d be a boat anchor comparatively 😅
Great content Tristan. Is it really like that with hardly any cars in the area? Be a dream to ride open roads without worrying about traffic.
Thanks Sean. I generally don’t speak to the camera when cars are around and cut out parts where they go past, but on the whole, these climbs are very car-free. Especially the first 3..I think we saw 10 cars in total on those climbs.
Great vid! Ben has become a favorite of mine as I get to know him 👍
So cool being able to ride with a pro,I'm 58,so a bit past me,if I was 20 again would have been great 😃
Excellent stuff, Tristan! Please keep them coming! 👍😎
Nice ride 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Good luck 👍🏾
Your videos are quality keep up the great work 👍
Check out a video Francis Cade did on these fluffy stickers for the mics on the cameras which help with the wind
AG2R! my favored team!
Another great video with Ben.would be interesting to find out how his body felt after the race

Always enjoy your videos Tristan! Question for you, what chamois cream do you use ?
Thanks man! I don’t actually use any chamois cream. I haven’t for the last 7 or 8 years now
@@tristantakevideo thank you bro, I am not to that point yet :)
I get sore legs just looking at those power numbers. 💪

The subtitles are auto generated by RUclips..I don’t add them in.
Can you include more on Wahoo page setups for training and races from both you and Ben in the future videos?
Thanks for the sweet content. The footage looks great. What kind of a camera are you using?
Thanks man 🙏🏼 This is all shot with my iPhone 13 Pro
1:30 "Hostia" :DD

Love the channel 👍🏻 What model / lens combo are your Oakleys?
Thanks Ian! These are Oakley Encoders.
@@tristantakevideo Thanks!
I enjoy your contents ….what brand is Ben’s shades?
They are Smith 🙏🏼

Where was this filmed? I gotta get on some of these roads!
This is Andorra in the Pyrenees
Definitely highlights that weight isn't the deciding factor when it comes to climbs. Great video.

Hello, Mr. Trrstin is there any chance to discus Corona Virus which is how effect the body and what is the best progress to back high level performance?
Another excellent video Tristan, but I'm left wondering why you can train with pro cyclists but not race with them ? 😉
Haha if a pro team gives me a shot we’ll find out if my theory is right or wrong.

Just seems like they would get a lot of attention from other riders and not be able to focus on their training (day at work,so to speak) as much as they would in a black bibs and a random jersey
Sponsors pay a lot of money for these guys to show their kit off year round

Ben is a world class mountain rider, maybe you could ride in the grupetto?
What is the name of the audio in the intro?
what camera do you use for the vlogs?
iPhone 13 Pro
What I want to know is what it’s like working with a very French team.
But @ what timestamp is there an answer to the title's question?
Every climb I get dropped on…
OMG ITS TRISTAN TATE, SELF MADE MULTIMILLIONARE AND INTERNATIONAL PLAYBOY
Is this Ben O'Connor?
Correct, Ben O’Connor
I think he took it to easy not training with pros. La Vuelta was rough for him.
He stuck to the training he was prescribed every day by his coach and finished 8th overall. This comment makes zero sense.
@@tristantakevideo do you think he can podium someday? Lot’s of new talent out there.
'90s cyclist would likely drop Ben for some reasons🤣
if you had your rim brake bike you could of kept up with him 😅
Another corker.
Less intense music please, no one is watching these at 4am at the club
Happy to choose less intense music but not happy with the suggestion my videos aren’t a great distraction during an average night out.
@@tristantakevideo i think he means volume?
