  • The ugliest fish I've ever seen grabbed my jig that was meant for a flounder (fluke)! Despite its nasty appearance, it's the best fish I've ever eaten. We had to make a move to find good current, but caught well once we did, including a doormat fluke near the end of the trip.

    I’ve been fishing near point look out on Long Island for fluke and have been having trouble choosing the right weight for my bucktail rig. The area i focus on is near there inlet and probably ranges between 15-30 ft of water. I tried with a 1.5 oz and thought it might be too light so switched to a 2oz but now I’m thinking it’s too heavy. My goal is to try to have the line stay somewhat straight up and down but if always seems to angle out, maybe I’m just not realizing when the 1.5oz hits bottom and I’m letting out extra line?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Год назад

      Better too heavy than too light. There's not much difference between 1.5 and 2 ounces. Watch the line carefully as the jig sinks to determine when it hits the bottom.
