Very nice. Would never expect 2 identical locks from Master to be messed up as far as one not having security pins (cough cough). A POS driver on #3 and POS bottom pin on #4. Nice on the outside but crap on the inside. You along with Bill makes is clear that Master simply doesnt care. Thanks for this video.
I just bought a Master Lock No. 3 to see if they are really that bad. It‘s worse than I anticipated, I can open it with a needle in less than one second.
Hiya Harry. Sorry about the key. the lock was pinned with five pins not six lol. i added the extra pins because i knew it would be really easy pickings. Too bad i only had a five pin key.
Thanks again for the locks. A very nice little collection! I've got a few locks that I think you will like set aside for you... I'll get them in mail for you soon.
I like that this video pops up on the first page when I googled this lock. I didn't like that I keep seeing this lock on _best padlock_ lists all over the internet. It's difficult to find an unbiased list since damned near all of them seem to be pushing Master Lock. I don't trust such lists.
Hi Harry, We use the larger Master Pro Series (6727) padlock with the Boron Alloy concealed shackle, fitted with a BiLock cylinder. Quite a formidable package - for a Master padlock. Thanks for showing .. and by the way, all the best to you and yours for Xmas and New Year. Regards, Brian.
Thanks. Master Pro Series definitely have some locks that are worth a second look. The cores tend to be soft, but it sounds like you have a darned effective solution to that! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
Nice pick, but this lock is screaming at me that it has been manipulated. As the key didn't work and the core had 6 pins and just not really stock. But still better than the rip off of the security pins all together.
Oh, it definitely was not stock... sorry if I didn't make that clear. Take away drive 3 and key pin 4, then move the pins around for stock arrangement (which is what I did).
LockPickingLawyer Not a big deal at all, I too like the pro-series. I understand that they really have a fight against thieves and "forced entry" not so much from picking... But when it comes to the standard of Master Lock. It's the joke of the picking world. So bad that if a thief just stuck a twig up the keyhole it would pop. Simply put the right core in all your locks and then you can compare to some of the better lock manufacturers of the world. But to stay as the joke is shocking to me. Sorry for rambling on. lol MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
I think that the pro series locks are resistant to the bypass and rapping attacks, and even bad spools provide some resistance against raking and perhaps pick guns/bumping. Perhaps their marketing has decided that the additional cost of tighter tolerance keys/cores and good security pins doesn't provide a great enough return on investment to justify making the locks better. The lockout lock cores are much better, but I think that's to prevent issues with having the incorrect key work in the lock - so there may be liability issues with having crap cores in lockout locks. The pro series ones I've seen don't seem to have the issue with seizing up after being out in the weather for a while like the commercial/regular master locks do.
These are nice locks, much better than a standard Master Lock. Master also makes the 6721 which takes a Schlage-style KIK cylinder. I have one with an Abloy Protec2 core.
Great video again, looks like Master Lock are going even further down-market and possibly trialing cheap chinese pins. They do seem to target there marketing at the outside of the lock rather than the inside,
My expectation would have been that these locks would have the same kind of pins as the LOTO locks. Supposedly better grade locks (like the 930) which I've purchased have had 5 pins, and the sixth pin wasn't even drilled to size, so you couldn't even put a pin in there Others have had security pins, but the two I've purchased had no security pins.. I have seen 6 pin pro series locks with good security pins, but key machine cutting on a JMA blank for the key makes me think that it had been rekeyed by a locksmith. Great video though!
Thanks for the kind words. The pinning tray is something that I made in my basement. I was not happy with any of the products on the market, so I made something a little better suited to my needs.
Potti314, I'm thinking that this wasn't a modification by Master Lock... I'm going to postulate that a past owner took a 5 pin lock and extended it too a 6 pin using what hey had to hand. Could be wrong though. The last time I saw these type of pins was from an AmTech lock that someone cut in half :-) EDIT: just read below that this was the cases lol... I should have read the comments first
I see these a lot at the storage facility I use, obviously I don't. I think I'm the only one using a MTL there. Why do they seem like they're two different sizes those two 6321s?
LockPickingLawyer if you cut off the plastic cover do you think it would have exposed rivets like master magnum key padlock. (Not asking you to cut off the cover of your padlock)
Is it possible the prior owner took this lock part and the key pin in 4 belongs with the spool pin in 3 ? Not sure if I said that right, and maybe that is why the key did not work ?
This is the absolute most respect I’ve seen any master lock given anywhere on RUclips.
Very nice. Would never expect 2 identical locks from Master to be messed up as far as one not having security pins (cough cough).

Thanks for this video.
Thanks. To be clear, the driver on 3 and key pin on 4 were put in by the lock's previous owner, not ML. But I do agree with the general sentiment!
Nice Video thanks, It would be ironic if Masterlock makes most of its money from lockpickers buying their locks and practicing on them.
LOL...
I just bought a Master Lock No. 3 to see if they are really that bad.

By the way you are spot on. Those are chinese pins :)

LockPickingLawyer No worries and thank you that is very kind of you.

Steel Pinnings My bad XD

as always speedily opened! nice one. have a great Christmas...

As always great video. Merry Christmas ALL
Thanks, and same to you!

Amazing how hard it is sometimes to even buy the lock that you want.
Truth!
Great job as always brother. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Pretty sure the Chinese stuff wasn't stock.

Where did you find your pinning tray? Or was it custom-made? Great picking as usual--I swear you're one of the best pickers on RUclips!
Thanks for the kind words. The pinning tray is something that I made in my basement. I was not happy with any of the products on the market, so I made something a little better suited to my needs.
Love how organized he is
Interesting pinning - great picking :-) Do you know why how these "Chinese" pins came into the lock?
Potti314, I'm thinking that this wasn't a modification by Master Lock... I'm going to postulate that a past owner took a 5 pin lock and extended it too a 6 pin using what hey had to hand. BD90 put the Chinese pins in there... just to bump it up to 6 pins. Master Lock can be bad, but not THAT bad!
very nice. Master now makes the 6121 in different color bodies but my supplier does not stock them :(
I didn't know that... more locks to add to my collection, perhaps.
I see these a lot at the storage facility I use, obviously I don't. I think I'm the only one using a MTL there. Why do they seem like they're two different sizes those two 6321s?
They are pretty good locks... for Master Lock. As for sizes, must be the camera angle.
What kind of cylinder I could use to replace de master proseries one. I own the same lock
LockPickingLawyer if you cut off the plastic cover do you think it would have exposed rivets like master magnum key padlock. (Not asking you to cut off the cover of your padlock)
Definitely true... it's a vulnerability, but not a big one unless you can put the lock in a vice.
Is it possible the prior owner took this lock part and the key pin in 4 belongs with the spool pin in 3 ? Not sure if I said that right, and maybe that is why the key did not work ?
can you help me with advice on rekeying one of these to a high secerity moveable system? abloy multilock? tyvm in advance
Which padlock would you say is the hardest to pick, cut, etc?
Very abus-like pinning: first standard, rest spools
Agreed
Does the pro series have a key retaining option?
👍👍🔓😎😘😘
