Senior management involved with the Lucy Letby case learned *nothing* from the Allitt case. They could’ve saved babies lives but chose to ignore multiple concerns about Letby. There are no excuses for having allowed this to happen all over again. They have the blood of those precious little babies on their hands.

The Allitt case was dreadful and I think it’s devastating that it’s happened again in the Letby case. Some people would mention the Shipman case too, but his crimes were usually motivated by greed., not mental illness. One of the things it shows is that the government inquiry into the Allitt case simply wasn’t enough because it changed nothing. The government response to the Letby case must be a full public inquiry, where witnesses will be be obliged by law to attend and will be under oath. I hope one of the things covered by any inquiry will be how to prevent such things happening again. The answer seems obvious to me, CCTV in every room in a hospital. That sounds dramatic and I know it would be costly, and it would raise privacy issues, but I don’t think there is any other option. Would Allitt or Letby have attacked children if they had know they were being watched all the time? However, there needs to be a culture change in the NHS too. They need to get rid of most of the managers and reinstate the matron on the wards. They need to stop closing ranks when there are complaints. They need to stop treating whistleblowers with contempt. With family members having worked in the NHS for many years, I know that cases like Letby and Allitt are rare. Most nurses go to work every day with the intention to care for patients and look after them properly and the majority do exactly that, but that doesn’t mean that cases like Allitt and Letby can be dismissed. After the Allitt case a lot of senior staff in the NHS said that it must not be allowed to happen again. Well now we’ve got Letby and this time the lessons must be learned.

Nah, we don't all think of them that way. It's just a job. The same goes for doctors. They're professions, just like any other, in essence. And you'll get a range of types who wind up in these professions.
In actual photos from the case, I found the photo of Allitt, being escorted in custody by police, on her way I think to her trial or from it, I think, extremely arresting (sorry for the pun) and disturbing. Allitt was smiling and you could see how happy all the attention made her. She's facing life in prison, and being labeled as a baby killer and a monster, yet she doesn't give a hoot. Instead of feeling the gravity of her future, Allitt is instead, pleased as punch to be the focus of all this attention, all this interest, all on her. It doesn't matter at all that it's negative attention, that people are thinking "who is this monster?". It doesn't matter that she's facing lfe behind bars. The only thing on Allitt's mind is being the centre of attention, all eyes on her, everyone clamoring to get her photo and to speak to her, the photographers and journalists jostling to get to her. You can just feel how deranged in some ways, Allitt must have been, when you see that photo.

The parallels of allit and letby are jarring. The need to comfort the parents. The dogged pursuit of murdering particular babies like it’s a mission and lets not forget that these nurses were on shift for every emergency.
It almost seems a compulsion. I’m wondering if it’s because both were single women without partners and there was a strange jealousy of snuffing out peoples happiness and simultaneously inserting yourself into their lives. People who would be grateful for your care and sympathy. Very disturbing and creepy. Almost like a hero complex. They are right to never be let out of their mental hospitals and prisons.

So even though she has become eligible for parole, she would still need to go before the parole board or rather mental health tribunal and convince them that she is no longer a threat to the public. Mental health professionals or the doctors in charge of her care must also decide that she is no longer suffering from a mental disorder or is sufficiently recovered that she can be discharged. This can go either way however, release on license (subject to the decision of the parole board) and she serves the rest of her license in the community under strict conditions or she get's transferred to a prison. I prefer the latter. In terms of freedom, because she is detained under the mental health act she would have to comply with any treatment suggested or given to her which means they can use appropriate force if necessary. Otherwise, yes, a hospital environment is more structured and less oppressive I would say than prison.

Most killer nurses are butt ugly. Check out a pic of Elizabeth Wettlaufer.🤮 Lucy Letby is the exception to the rule however. She was pretty at 22 years.

What appalls me is she after was diagnosed with a personality disoder she was transferred to a "secure " hospital . This was after a series of suicide attempts and hunger strikes .
A personaltity disorder is not psychosis . this woman is evil not mad .
No doubt her suicidalty resolved after her transfer
Easy time for the rest of her life at huge expense to the Tax payer .
