    When I ate Carnivore diet, I ate and drank a lot of unrefined salt. My bladder was never irritated. When I switched to a plant based diet, my bladder became irritated by the tomatoes, lemons, and limes. Salt is not bad for you.

    Lemons have actually saved me! It diminished pain in about 10 min's, many times. I did a three week diet of just alkaline foods and minimized my acidic foods. I didn’t eliminate the acidic foods completely,- needed protein, low acidic(chicken). Corn was my biggest problem-It’s in everything! Corn is the top of the acidic list. So I am not sure I agree that lemons are damaging. I would however feel it would be damaging if you were on an ALL alkaline diet and not balancing the diet out.

    Very true... and high alkalinity can be just as damaging as high acid. Remember, bleach (which is alkaline) is just as corrosive as sulfuric acid. Your goal is to try to be pH neutral. We focus on "acidity" because it's an easier learning tool for many patients. Make sense?

    • @jessicamaria7471
      @jessicamaria7471 Год назад

      I agree! Tap water is the worst ! I put a ph test strip in mine today and it was shocking how alkaline it was , 7.7 ! I did a test in bottled water and it was the complete opposite. It was 5.5 acidity

    It is colorings and artificial colorings and too much activity or too much liquid and before a BM that give me flares...hit or miss on coffee or tea for bad responses but I only have them occasionally anyway...not so much my bladder but the rest of me does not respond well to caffeine. Lemons turn the body alkaline so I don't usually find them particularly bad.

    I don't know if I have IC. I have very frequent urination and penile ache (also feels like I have a urinary infection and a strange stuck-in-an-orgasm type of feeling). I've been trying dietary changes (including watching oxalates) with a little cheat here and there, but not seeing results. The only thing that helps me somewhat is Amitriptyline, but it has a side effect that makes sexual activity very difficult. Mostly I drink water and oat-milk. I was also having a cup of caffeine free coffee a few times a week but quit a few days ago. I take Prelief before lunch and/or dinner depending on what I'm eating. I was getting pelvic physical therapy for one year. It didn't really do anything because a few weeks ago I stopped my meds as an experiment and it all came back. Again, the Amitriptyline offers the most relief, but it makes me tired and there's the sexual dysfunction issue. I haven't given up but if I don't wake up tomorrow at least it would be relief.

    @lamore4393 It's the ACID and the CAFFEINE. Think about it, would you pour coffee on an open wound on your hand?? No. Would you put coffee with baking soda on an open wound on your hnad?? No. Honestly, the ONLY way that you're bladder is going to have a chance at repairing itself is if you stop the coffee for ATLEAST six months. Every cup of coffee you have sets your healing back about two weeks because it is destructive to the new fragile cells that are trying to repair your bladder. Try it!

    As the bladder slowly heals, it can and will be able to tolerate more irritating foods like coffee.. but if you are having active symptoms.. I think it's foolish to drink coffee because of the risk you run in creating even more inflammation and irritation. Just my two cents. Oh.. and medications with caffeine are very tricky.. and if you know that you have to tolerate that small amount of caffeine, just make sure that you don't add more to it by eating other foods that are caffeinated.
