My dream to own a proper Korg even goin back 20 yrs When the Triton came out...just cant muster the funds do to my fuxed income from a seizure disorder....but glad i have youtube..to witness it..
I've owned many Korg synths, from when they first started, & they were good, but since Yamaha came out w the Motif, they kinda took over the lead... imho
Was gonna get a Krome this month, but now I see the EX. I was excited! I watched numerous videos already and read a lot of you people's comments. Your knowledge and experience has convinced me to take another look at Yamaha. Thank you all for the feedback. And as a fan of Korg I have to agree; little upgrade in the wrong places. Dang, it's back to watching other videos!
Did you get yourself the Yamaha or did you end up with the Krome? I'm also on the route and thought of getting a Korg but it seems like the Krome is a no go area.
Thank you, Korg. The Krome line of products is great. I've been playing a first generation Krome 73 since 2015 and I owned a Triton Pro before that. I chose Krome over other brands because, for the most part, it gives me access to the features I enjoyed most in the Triton. I use Krome in studio and on stage and over the years it has been reliable and fun to play. I love the sounds. Regrettably, I will not upgrade to the EX because there are a number of fundamental features critical to music production and performance, features I had hoped would be included in the new model, that are absent. I have a list of features/improvements that I know will be very welcome on the Krome line from a long-time user perspective. I would prefer not to air them here. Is there anyone who would be willing to take a suggestion (and act on it) from someone who is still invested in your products and who desperately wants to see Korg get a win in the segment Krome competes in?
I don’t think they are interested. if they have common sense they would not release ex krome in 2019 with zero upgrades. I bought it in 2011 knowing nothing about keyboards but it’s missing sampler, I would add 12 buttons for manual sequencer and microphone in… roland fa has it and it’s better choice, korg is stuck in last century with krome
Seriously korg u need to up the game. I still have a Korg TR which is like 15 yrs old now and its got almost everything you claim to have in the EX. Same 16 track sequencer, 2 ARPS and almost the same workflow. Oh I forgot, I can actually sample on the TR and has aftertouch too.
The lack of Krome's aftertouch is a massive shame - I have a Korg TR61, and recently tried to sell it. I got stupid low offers, then went back to play it and realized how great it actually is!!
Sad. I had the krome many years back. Sold it to get Kronos 2 73. This krome Ex should have added sampling pads and sample features like the Kross 2. Lost out to the Modx in terms of mid range synth upgrade. Come on Korg. We are nearing year 2020. This Ex smells like a Triton Le without sampling.
Keep in mind that the OASYS, Kronos and Kronos II use the exact same processor (An Intel Atom board with the CPU built into it. This is also why the Kronos II can only accept a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. The memory controller on that board doesn't have 64 bit adresses). Korg does that cutting cost thing even to their high end flagships. It's a bit sad that even the cheapest SSD PCs nowadays boot faster than a flagship 7 grand workstation. Heck, the Nord Stage 3 boots in 3 seconds...You can boot about 50 Stage 3s by the time it takes the Kronos II to finish its 2:30 minute boot.
The only thing is for me .I had a Yamaha MODx briefly but no sequencer in it. I wish it had a sequencer and returned it. I may check this Korg out. I still hope they can improve this Krome ex .
Some comments on here, about how many of these sounds are dated. Yes, some PRESETS are dated, but if you take the time to actually customize and create your OWN SOUNDS, it will sound amazing - just like any other modern high-spec synth should. The other option: go buy a home keyboard.
I would get this as a modern version of my old X-50. The dual arps and the combi modes on the X-50 are great, so I would be just fine using those on the krome and the krome's additional capabilities. the touch screen is great. I like that instant tweakability of combi mix volumes. X-50 is clunky in the menus. IMO, you need both a Korg and Yamaha. they sound so different. for example, I use Yamaha pianos for solo(MX88 with motif sounds), korg pianos for in the mix. korg orchestras and Yamaha violins etc etc . they also seem to be copying Yamaha on their specific piano patches like a "woodier" sounding piano (new Yamaha cp has a bosendorfer which is so yummy and more of a woody sound), a new upright (Yamaha has several including an out of tune one), amazing coincidence. all korg pianos sound a bit tinny vs Yamaha, but you could also argue that all Yamaha pianos sound dull vs korg, so you really do need both...js
@@sachindevgir Why is it so difficult? I've been playing since the early 80's, never had a "setlist" on any of my synths, and at one point I was using a rig that included 6 different boards.
