    Awesome finds Squirrel!
    2 cent, Indians, gilded button, rifle lock
    Doesn't get much better than that!
    I usually run in field 1 too - the high tones will come thru while getting better ID on lower tones 👍
    Stay Safe ☺️

    I really like your ability to describe how you are setting up your equinox. I recently started using one and am needing to get a better handle on how to set it up, coming from a Garrett AT Pro background. It is an awesome machine and it is revealing just how good it can be. I just need to be more knowledgeable on how to adjust it for different areas. Thank you for your great and helpful videos. And this is coming from a guy that has been swinging coils for 40 years!

      The main settings to internalize and set for each hunt are sensitivity, ground balance, what program you choose, what you are accepting and rejecting in discriminate mode, recovery speed and iron bias. The rest of the settings are user preference.

    Thoroughly enjoyable!!! I had to split this into two sessions which I viewed during my breaks at the long term care facility where I work. A guilded button, 1863 Civil War token , old coins and some fine relics... great hunt ... I would be ecstatic if I found that in one hunt! Thanks for sharing your video.

    Sorry I’m hitting this one a little late - I’m finally getting a chance to catch up on your videos! I really appreciate that you run through all of your settings, show the numbers and tones pre-dig, and narrate your thought process so clearly - it really makes you a standout among RUclips detecting channels, and I never fail to learn something even with over a year swinging my own 800.
    Anyways, another awesome hunt, SNS, with a fun variety of finds! The Indian that rang up low is likely an 1859-1864 “fatty” Indian - during those years, they had a copper-nickel (88% copper, 12% nickel) composition instead of bronze like the later issues (95% copper, 5% tin/zinc), accounting for the lower VDI, and the reddish corrosion more reminiscent of a V or Shield nickel. Halfway through 1864, the mint shifted over to bronze, so most 1864 Indians ring up “normal”. One way you can check since the date isn’t readable is to compare the thickness of the coin with the later Indian you found - it should be noticeably thicker...hence the nickname “fatty”!
    The store card had me fooled too when you first showed it out of the ground - it sure looked like a flying eagle cent at first! Sorry you didn’t get your first Flying Eagle, but that store card is still cool in my book - and thanks to your hunt, I’ll have a better idea what one will sound like in one of my field permissions...I’m still looking for my first store card. On the plus side, you’ll know what a Flying Eagle will sound like - their composition is exactly the same as the “fatty” Indian you just found, and ring up the same (I’ve been fortunate to find a couple).
    That 2 cent piece is phenomenal! I’d love to get my coil over one of those - and again, thanks to your excellent video, I’ll have a better idea of what it’ll sound like. Incredible gilding left on that flat button - awesome dig! And just flat out cool that you matched and ID’d the broken pieces of the rifle side plate - an interesting and unique find!
    Fun and informative as always - thanks! And very nice job on Relics Radio - I really think Loy’s show is the best detecting podcast out there with excellent production and many great guests, but I honestly think that was among their best shows.

    Why you don't use the auto tracking Ground balance?
    Any reason?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  4 года назад +1

      I have never used any auto ground balance because the machine is constantly ground balancing. There is a chance as the machine is ground balancing that you may be passing over something that you want to find as it balances it out during the process of balancing. When in areas where the dirt changes rapidly in metallization as well as density or even material, automatic Ground balance is a good idea. Everybody has an opinion on it and that is mine. I have always grown balanced in the beginning as well as many times during the hunt well in locked tracking.

      You could still find some great items.. Try to find areas where the logging crews or fur traders frequented in your area. They were the pioneers of most of America and ventured where others were not brave enough to go. Research metal artifacts found which came from farm fields or old trails left behind by native Americans trading with the French and Spanish.. little inspiration.

      There are many options out there to upgrade the power supply. If you saw the negative comment my buddy left there.. which is now blocked for my channel.. I fully explained in the video where I made that modification that it’s not for everybody. I also explain many other options that are available. From what I know there is a battery compartment that you can buy from eBay that is very popular which holds three lipo cell batteries. I have heard a lot of people have had great success with it. Other than what I just told you that’s all I know about it but I believe it’s very popular. If you want to discuss issues with your V3 I you can email me and we can set up a phone call and I’ll talk to you about it. Have you played with the frequencies to see different items of different types?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  4 года назад +1

      I run in single frequency five occasionally but most the time I run in multi frequency. Each frequency will respond better to specific types of metal, 5 kHz being favorable of the high conductors and the and 40 being more prone to hit low conductors. This brings up something that I’ve never understood which is gold and it response more to the 40 frequency but gold is used in all kinds of electronic Connections because it is a awesome conductor, like the best out there. That’s something that I don’t understand.

      Square Nail Squirrel gold that has not been processed has less iron and tin in it ... so that’s why ... I would like you to set up a program and use 10 kHz to find iron when multi cannot seem to tell you . Just a note

    Your last item could be from a spike harrow, but more likely, since the one end is mushroomed, it is probably a stone chisel. I have four of them and found one near a partially cut stone.

      Thank you for the identification on that and it is a very interesting find. It’s cool that you have found some as well. I was thinking since the steel is probably good quality but I might wire wheel off the rust, grind it down and then keep it around for use.

      The blue bag that I wear is called the squirrel pouch and I make it myself. The one that I’m wearing is version three where there is a version for that has not been finished. These bags are something I’ve been working on for probably six or seven years and there are other detectors out there making videos that wear them. There has been issues with them and they have all been resolved and I’m trying to build something that’s very usable for the hobby. Once I have them finished and I can actually make them and feel confident that a purchaser will be absolutely happy with it, I will post them on my webpage. Squarenailsquirrel.com

    First of all, I'm so glad you're back! I missed you when you stopped posting. Your hunting style is so much like my own... the research, the types of places, and the sorts of finds that you value.
    That said, I have a comment and a question:
    First the question... I know what the main differences are between the "1" and the "2" programs, but do you know what the main differences are between the "Park" and the matching "Field" program is? The manual doesn't seem to explain that to my satisfaction.
    Next, the comment: Notice please that your button did not say "Gold Gilt". There is a reason for that. Gilt IS gold plating. Seems every detectorist on the internet insists on using the redundant term of "Gold gilt" and I scream whenever I hear it. There is no such thing as Silver Gilt or Copper Gilt... Gild (and Gilding) is a complete term for gold plating. Look it up if you doubt me.
    It is my mission in life to put an end to that horrible screeching redundancy. Please help a poor boy out.

      From what I can tell the difference from ParkMobile to field mode is the aggressiveness to cancel out targets. I can tell that I get a lot less noise when I am detecting running in a park mode. I am afraid that when I am in Park mode and in a field that my crusty coins are going to get canceled out because the aggressiveness of the discrimination.
      A gilded object is also described as "gilt".

      @trolltaker 4 года назад

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 Thanks... that sounds plausible, at least. I have come to a similar conclusion regarding the noise in Field 1, but that has led me to run in Park 1 most of the time. Never occurred to me that I might be missing things because of it.

    awesome video great hunt!!! ... the guy shooting the gun at the end is my worst nightmare out metal detecting!!! I find it completely interesting the change of mode yields different results i cant remember did you go single freq or multi? on the equinox i notice that will change the results as well ... for example i like to use multi but jump to five before i dig . next time you head down to ky hit me up :)

      I was using multi frequency during this hunt. I’ll definitely keep you in mind but were getting hit with travel restrictions in my area. In town here I really need to have a great excuse for driving down the road, seems like the only one I have is going to the grocery. I might be able to pull off another hunt before things get a little bit more restricted. I have two videos that I need to edit but I would like to get one more hunt and so I have three that I can put out

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 later rather then sooner :) i have my normal hunting buddies both use the nox and they have gotten into the habit of swinging multi but before they dig switching into 5khz to recheck the signal . the multi sometimes lowers vdi food for thought.
