When it comes to great stories, Team Gray is the story to read about. They finished 4th overall about 30 minutes or so out of 1st place. Hurricane Katrina displaced the team's headquarters from Metairie to Hammond, La. during preparation. The Gray brothers saw an article about the Darpa Challenge in a Popular Science, asked guys around the office if they were interested and it took off from there. The head programmer wrote software for actuarial tables for Gray Insurance Co. He got a bunch of books on simulation game software and went from there. These were guys from an insurance company that I've raced sailboats against over the years. I'm really proud of them.
Its crazy how technology evolves rapidly. You never know in the future these kind of cars will drive us to work and drop off kids to school. Can't wait for the future :D
It is 2019 and the whole industry is dreaming about autopilots in stock cars. It's expensive yet, but I'm sure in future it will not only be affordable but even kill taxi drivers and truckers as professions.
i don't know what this guy was talking about, with that winding cliff section. where i live we drive that quite often. from what i saw of that trail that wouldent be so stressfull. but i would like to see how teramax got through it.

This happened in 2005. It is 2013. Has anyone considered the impact besides me and Google?

It's amazing that the cars can navigate so well!
Your eloquent response has made me reconsider my previous position! =O amazing!
@oeginmulla because the military has the money. are YOU going to fund it?
@oeginmulla likely because the military have substantial amounts of money to make this technology more efficiently and safe for the public

__Great technology, but when the "sensor" is damaged, then .. all belong to the enemy. without resistance.

wow this is incredible.i think i might go into robotics now.
there comes a point when technology is too far. remember terminator?
Mark the age of self-driving cars
Well RedBull must've been proud lol.
messing with robotics aint like toys, u gotta treat them like its ur own kid
Sucks that Ensco got a flat tire!!! What a stupid thing to take you out of a competition like this. I love when the underdogs win.
I wouldnt be surprised if that wasnt a reflection of their sponsor's attitude.
