Kelly Clarkson is one of the greats. I’m not even joking. She should be considered in the same breathe as Aretha, Whitney, Celine and Mariah. For sure
It’s funny that you even have to add the “I’m not even joking”. It should be a given but for some reason, people degrade Kelly.

Kelly Clarkson is so talented, it’s beyond comprehension. She can literally sing anything and nail it. My forever favorite performance of this song however, is by legendary Shoshana Bean. She’s my queen. Worth listening to.
Shoshana was actually playing the role when I saw it on Broadway!
in my opinion it was best performed by sara bareilles herself, i don’t know if it’s because she wrote it but she captures the emotion of it in a way i haven’t heard anyone else do, shoshana is incredible though i agree

I mean, I'd expect nothing less from Kelly Clarkson. She can sing "War and Peace" by Tolstoy, if she wants to, and I'd be hanging on to every word, every note 🤣🤣🤣
Also, "She Used To Be Mine" is a beautifully composed song, thanks to Sara Bareilles, and if it is interpreted by a singer with lesser capabilities it can go horribly wrong.
So yeah, a perfect match here between a great singer/performer and a wonderful song 👏👏👏👏

Kelly is a brilliant singer. She always does a song more than justice. She doesn't imitate others she makes it her own.
That song makes me weep every time I hear it and Kelly ... stop it ... so beautiful I don't have adequate words to describe it. But Kelly's voice is what I would wish for in my next life. Even if I never took a stage, just to be able to be in my house singing to my babies, that would fill me with joy. AND, if I do get Kelly's voice in my next life, I'm rolling down the darned car windows and singing at the top of my lungs. lol

Love Kelly Clarkson! She is one of the very best singers out there ... and quite likable, too! Both Kelly C and Carrie U are two of my favorite singers who came out of the American Idol franchise.

She's so ridiculously talented as a vocalist... I mean just listen to the people who starred in this role on broadway, that was their whole role... then listen to Kelly right after.
I've been really torn with this performance. As a fan of Kelly Clarkson, she nailed the performance and loved it. However, Katharine McPhee did a run on the "Waitress" Broadway show and has her own rendition of the song. I REALLY love McPhee's version of the song. Who comes out ahead...I'd say a tie. Can't decide.

Hey Applepiebetty. Trust me, I would love to just “hit play” too on Kelly’s performance, but music labels are HARDCORE about ANY music being played in a RUclips video. They will make a copyright claim on a song being used for just a few seconds. When I did this segment, even though I kept the clips as short as possible to still give you a feel of the cover, it was a risk. They haven’t made a claim on it. And of course, you can go watch Kelly’s cover in full on her talk show channel. I even provided a link within the segment for you to click on. And in this video, you get Sara’s reaction to it and you get Kelly talking about it. All provided to you in a 2 minute summary. I’m proud of how it all turned out. So yeah, go watch the full, interrupted thing on The Kelly Clarkson Show RUclips channel. That’s not what I do (and what I can’t) on this channel.
Of course Kelly has no ego about it, but honestly, being able to do that on the fly is just rude y'know. It's like, people have to rehearse for weeks to sound the best they can, and Kelly is like, here..let me have a go at it. To quote Kelly, "whatever, it's fine".

That’s how the pop world works, my friend. At 38, Kelly could release the greatest pop song ever and it MIGHT have a chance of hitting #1. The female pop stars of the last 20 years have learned that they have to diversify to remain relevant. Sure, their music will still get noticed, but it won’t be #1. Kelly, Beyonce, Rihanna, Mariah…they’ve all started other streams of revenue.
@@GraemeONeil A popular radio station here had an interview with Kelly a while back where they gushed over her and begged her to tour here but the only song of hers they play is Since U Been Gone as a throwback. The announcers admitted after the interview they're not meant to play music by women around 40 which was why they stopped playing Jennifer Lopez years ago despite her having big hits at the time.

As much as I love Kelly and her music she has a tendency to over sing and over power the notes which happened a few times in this performance. Where as 17 year old Lucy Thomas Music does a flawless performance of "She Used To Be Mine" which she recorded when she was 14. Lucy is from the U.K. and was a semi-finalist on the 2018 Kids Voice U.K. Just about every video on her RUclips channel has reached 1 million views and more. Her choices of music and performances are phenomenal. Kelly should bring Lucy on to her show because Lucy is well on her way to becoming a global artist...
Interesting. What I’ve appreciated about Kelly is that she never does unnecessary “runs” or “oversings”. Her notes are always so precise…on another note, I don’t love how your comment progresses. It strikes me a bit that you are bashing Kelly in order to praise Lucy, which of course, is unnecessary. I’m sure Lucy’s talents stand on their own and don’t need to be propped by knocking literally one of the greatest singers of all-time lol.

I do NOT like the dancers. I love the more-muted AND the more-angry version of this gorgeous song. It’s an introspective, retrospective song, and I think Kelly gives it a bravura performance.
