I'm not sure if I'm more amazed at Rogers dedication to his craft or the interviewers dedication to his hair. Absolute precision hair spring work from both men.
Wonderful introspective and illuminating interview, thank you! The Daniels method lives on in Roger W. Smith, and both George Daniels and Smith have helped push British watchmaking back into the limelight, ushering in new brands too: Garrick Watches, anOrdain, Stuthers, Charles Frodsham, Warwick Watches, and more! 👏🏽⌚🇬🇧
Great insight; these are the kind of interviews that are historically essential. To deviate slightly: can I ask watchmakers to consider the humble desk clock and it's potential - the form has so much potential.
I tried to change a battery and after winning the battle getting the back off the battery shot across the room never to be found and I destroyed the tab holding the battery in. I would not make a great apprentice
Britain🇬🇧 has Great Indugerous People Unfortunately in the last 50 years we have had incompetent corrupt useless governments..who have never invested in our Work Force or our people..
@@Dr_LKI think he meant industrious. The British have great engineering but production is not always great. I’m American so I get to watch Boeing produce a flying coffin
@@juniorjohnson5961Agree, both on smart arses and which parts are “bought in”, George fashioned his own Jewels and was interesting to note that Smith now buys in !
I had a 1988 Milano Gold. I had a love/hate relationship with it. Driving was wonderful, but repairs were difficult, even when it was new. Eventually, it developed an intermittent problem; sometimes it would not start and it would have to be towed fifty miles to the Alfa repair shop. A wonderful but problematic car
The question was, not verbatim, Are you the only watchmaker here? My understanding of the meaning, accurate or not, is that every person I see working on them is considered a "watch maker", yes?

I laughed out loud 🙏
Lol little bit of hair envy
I’m sure that quaff requires more upkeep than the watch.
@@juniorjohnson5961 I also laughed out loud 😂. It’s truly perfect hair, is he a ballroom dancer, when not involved with the watches.
@@terrypassfield6854 I'd forgotten about this & had another good laugh ✊
Daniels and Roger are two legendary super heroes of watch making .
His series 4 coaxial quad adjust movements are next level.
Roger seems like such a proper gentleman with such an unshakable calm, he seems to have mastered the zen of chill to the point of Kelvin
Long live Roger, we need British watchmakers!
I love British design. Love my Farer and saving for an anOrdain.
Fantastic insight and beautifully shot 😍

Stunning craftsman. Simply astonishing work....
I want to apprentice under Roger. I think his watches are world class. ❤
They are simply the best watches in the world. Everything hand made apart from 3 items. Outstanding.

Absolutely fantastic
Great video, thanks. Would have liked to heard the rest of the CNC story though.

Very interesting
I was wondering if he made everything including the mainspring Jewels Christal & straps.
If you actually listened you would know.

Not even finished and I'm amazed
great interviewer
Very interesting talk. I need to find out how to make 1 minute tourbillion for the clock.

Why is the clock in the room not working?
No one could fix it 🥺
@@juniorjohnson5961 What, with all that incredible talent available? I am amazed!!! What was the problem with the clock that stopped it from running?
@@douglaswragg7972 I was just kidding ... Have no idea why it wasn't running I'm shure Roger could .
@@juniorjohnson5961 Thanks for that. I appreciate your sense of humour.
Probably didn’t want it to interfere with the interview

If anyone is wondering what watch Roger was wearing. it was probably the Rolex, that his wife bought him.
In a previous video he was wearing an Explorer, which he described as a workhorse.
What a Blessed time to know the Lord Jesus Christ and His intelligence to create.

I’m pretty sure that “One Guy” he was talking about is King Charles?
The very antithesis of a Jacob & Co. I know which one I would rather have.
