For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and for the last few years we have been travelling the UK on our 54ft narrowboat Zero and working in our floating cafe narrowboat, Holly. After two years of trading and travelling (and having a baby!) we moved onto land and are now planning big things for the cafe boat business! Join us as we work out how we're going to navigate this next chapter of our lives!

You are a brave woman to take on the challenge of rough puff pastry. I still have nightmares from my attempts to master it, and feel the need to hide the packages when I use store bought pastry. Bravo.

Sorry to hear you are selling Nero hope you are carrying on with the vblogs with Holly there has been a few narrowboaters come off the cut lately I know the licence is going but seems to hitting cruisers that haven't got permanent moorings but good luck to you at least William will school friends to grow up with 🎉😊😊

It’s for the best, and you’re doing the right thing, but you’ll have amazing memories for the rest of your life. Unfortunately this is something you do when young and no kids or like my friends dad who in the 80’s bought 2 narrow boats and set up a business in his 50’s where one was sleeping and other was his plus restaurant. He sold holidays where he toured on canals with paying guests where he provided breakfast and lunch. However he had his career and kids that had grown up and left and money set aside
But it was worth a punt, and you’ve found like all the rest of us, you have to get a home and job and support wife and kids. It’s not easy, and nobody really wants to but it’s called growing up and it sucks
My Grandmother Annie Mooney came from Ireland. Annie's rough pastry was a treat on a cold winters morning before going to school in Nahant, Massachusetts.

A new chapter in your lives as you sell the narrow boat. What wonderful memories you will have but now it is time to move on.
Wow haven’t see anyone playing draughts for a long time! Goodbye Zero…hello to a new life chapter (I know zero hasn’t gone yet and you’ve already started a new chapter on land). The quality of your cinematography as well as interest in your adventures, keeps me watching. It’s like watching a mini film each time!

Thank you for this video. It must be very sad for you guys to have made the decision to sell Zero, but as others have said on here, it will be so much easier, and safer, in a house, with William growing up. But you still have your Cafe boat, so can get your "fix" back on her! Whoever gets to buy Zero will love her too, I am sure. William is so lovely, as are both of you. I'm gonna send you winter leggings. (Just as soon as I've checked they're in store, which will be tomorrow). They're really thick . you won't get out of them until March. We have apartment heat issues with northern wind. Zero, you're a beaut.

And yet another wonderful video, thank you. I go walking every Monday and Wednesday in Bollingt, one of these walks along the canal I was tell a couple of people about your vlogs. I could not believe it when I saw 'Holly', I was so aghast and giddy with excitement. Now, I've not seen every blog of yours but I hope the business is still on the up?

I think you should consider making some meat pies for the festive season. Would sell well on cold weekends.
I think you are right in selling Zero. She must be worth quite a bit. Yes. I know you've both got loads of memories in there, but at some point you will have make the decision. Living in a house is so much easier, especially for William.

Even before my finishing watching this episode, or reading any of the comments...RE: Notebooks. *Keep them*. Read them later, when you can pore over them and digest what's there. Guaranteed, you'll find a couple of gems. Once throughly examined, then dispose.

Do you know what though, you have all your YT videos as a memory of that Zero chapter, so it’s all good. Time for changes……..go for it.
I always make my own roughpuff pastry was taught at school.Once you master that next Puff Pastry so easy to make.

Boat-shaped sweet pies? My Grandma used to have a couple of bun tins for making Victoria Fingers (for trifle sponges). Boat-shaped pies, ideal for selling to children of all ages from a Narrow Boat!

Must of been a rough (pardon the pun) decision to sell Zero. As they say one door closes and another opens and a new adventure begins. It is bitter sweet and you have recorded thankfully all your trips on her and all your lovely memories of William on the videos too on Zero. Have a lovely day.
Jo - you need to learn to crimp your pastry tops! Not only will the pies look lovely and decorative with the crimped pattern around the rim, but this pinching method will also make sure your pastry tops stick to the bottom pastry case - the pies will hold together much better, and not collapse in your hand when you bite into them. Crimping is easy to learn - everyone's Granny has been doing it for centuries! Get crimping, girl!
My wife took one look at those apple pies and said apple turnovers would be better, and she wasn't watching. She was planning Christmas meals. I must say they looked delicious and mouth watering. I had wondered how long it would be before the need to be on a boat would kick in.
Early Bird Bakes, then a coffee in Yas Beans (next door) is a regular dog walk stop for me 🙂 Mmmmmmmmmmmm

My mother used to make something like your "rough puff pastries", but she started using cupcake liners to make them easier to handle and eat.
Jo, keep your rough puff pastry rough. It makes those tarts look yummy and definitely not commercially made. A sprinkle of icing sugar would be the only way to make them even better. Love the vlogs and seeing William growing so quickly.
The book, “breath” by James Nestor. Great book. We tape our mouth shut at night. Definitely helps a lot to breathe through the nose.

The pies to me look really homemade not factory made if I was buying from you and your Cafe De Holly I would appreciate the apple pies more you think just like my Granny used to make they looked delicious Jo. The attraction for me was the canal and narrowboat then like so many others I engaged in watching Vic and Jo's life unfold. If you ever decide to do a RUclips channel these guys are the ones to study, their wit, timing and cinematic filming is amazing. I'm looking forward to watching their next steps in life.
Hi Vic. yes you are onto something with breathing though your nose...totally agree. Next thing you could do is a study on sugar and the impact on the immune system. Also Jo...after you roll out pastry shrink it back in then cut out your shapes
