    is it would be possible to make different type of music with this sinth? or only the junk type old fashion trash music that i m watching in all reviews in youtube?

      Dario Iscaro I’m a little late to this comment , but I have the pedal and you can create very atmospheric pads and soundscapes. I combine this with my delays and reverbs and it’s a killer sound. It’s a fun tool and can be used in more ways than just generic 80s funk.

      @@treynobles Do you have demos of your atmospheric stuff? I completely understand what Dario Iscaro is talking about here - almost all the sound demos of the SY-300 seem to be ugly, mean, harsh trash that most probably only sounds "nice" to the player himself and all others will be covering their ears. Weird gimmicks at best. If it was a keyboard player doing this, we would tell him to polish his sounds a bit, to be less harsh. But because it's coming from a guitar, everyone's so excited? It's like, pretty awful ... but it's played by a five-year-old? pity compensation changes everything. You just need to first announce that the sounds are made by a guitar synthesizer, and then people will tolerate it? ;)

      Old fashion trash.... Well I don't buy pop, jazz, country, punk, Classical but I don't call it trash and respect the musician for their skill. Most guitar players, (the so called youtube celebrity set) have no clue on using the pedal so it's no wonder you have that view. I don't know about you but I use my imagination watch/hearing these long and disappointing vids. Oh shit his comment was 4 years ago lol hope he eventually acquired one and is still playing.

    I guess this unit is supposed to be an update on the old Roland GR 300 minus the old 24 pin printer plug. If so it doesn't look as if it has enough control buttons for easier tweaking on the fly. I agree with Daniel Hartle that someone like Belew should do the demo for this.
    When is Roland going to redo the VG 99? THAT is the one I'm wanting the most.

      check @ 5:05, getting close. Even the backing track sounds like they were going for "Are You Going With Me?" I think he turns on some kind of LFO partway through, though. Kind of wrecks it.

    I don't think this is hideous at all. Too pop though. In the right hands this has amazing potential. Where is Adrian Belew when u need him. I'm thinking more modern music like Dead Man Walking by Bowie.....that guitarist could make proper use of this...

    Can the Sounds be shifted on the fly so to speak? I heard two Methenyesque sounds on the demo.BUT is it practical enough to play live with? Can the tones be changed with an expression pedal with some accuracy or are there presets?

    • @Official_Cyberwolf_Ledgic
      @Official_Cyberwolf_Ledgic 7 лет назад

      Richard Stanley yes the pedal does have a expression plug in that allows you to do that with the SY-300

It's my eyes that are getting the spoon, not anyone elses. Hyperbole for amusements sake. Also what's sou? All I could find with a web search was a university in Oregon

    Cheesy sounds, I mean can any one really see themselves using these sounds on an album in 2021? Maybe in the 1980s I could of used this for "Ghostbusters".

      +Strabbs12345 Lol! if these are the best sounds and I'd assume they were, I can't think what the rest are like. This unit will fail- guitarists don't want these sounds. The GR55 is a different beast altogether capable of producing top notch sounds.

      +Malcolm Browning its a shame, iam not a brand sorta guy, but i love boss pedals, i mean we all grew up with them right? but they are fast approaching being one of those companies that never expands and puts out the same old stuff, and gets left behind? shmae coz is till have my first ever boss pdal on my board! a superoverdrive, love it!

    • @rklewis2
      @rklewis2 8 лет назад +2

      +Malcolm Browning Why would those be the best sounds? They're patches, and usually, patches setup by the vendor have too much of everything in them.
      This device is simply the first incarnation of a guitar synth that doesn't require any sort of special pickup to use it. Later releases will have the expression pedal built in, and more improvements, overall.
      For the most part, the device encourages guitarists to create sounds. These can be based off of an existing patch, or start from scratch. From what I've seen of it, it can add to the overall sound. Would a guitarist base their sound on one of these? I would think not...unless this was what they were looking for.I think there is certainly a place for this device.

      I don't think that BOSS / Roland were really looking at the SY-300 in the same way as the GR-55, GR-33, etc. For the SY-300, they were looking at something more derivative of the old GR-300 analog guitar synth, something more earthy and ethereal. If you want to sound like a drum kit, scat singers, or a saxophone, go for the GR-55 which is basically a rompler. A good amount of tweaking is needed to make the SY-300 sound at its best, similar to playing a GR-300. If you ever played a GR-300, you'll know what I'm getting at. I only wish that the SY-300's MIDI capabilities allowed for external sound sources to be connected, that would have been fun.
