Song writers are people I most admire, they're not just songwriters they are the greatest poets in the world to me!best example is Hank Williams wrote a beautiful piece of poetry w/ "I'm so lonesome I could cry". That is a masterpiece! Second place (for me)is Willies poetry "Hello walls".I'm trying to find out who wrote some of my other favs such as,"A picture of me w/o you and Vern Godsden's,"Do you believe me now"
Country songwriting, how is it different? One element of it seems like the here and now is very important. "I woke up this morning and I had a beer for breakfast." You know the middle part of " A Day in the Life" by the Beatles? McCartney sings "Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head." Give that a country twang and there you go. It's like in country you've got to establish the set and setting, it grinds the listener on what the established bedrock of this song's statement is gonna be.

I’m also interested in songwriters. Some of my favorites are Bob Dylan, Hank Cochran, Dean Dillon, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Merle Haggard.
Thank you-sounds delightful, fruitful, and productive.
