A shop wanted to charge me a whole new clutch system(everything) and I told then that's too much and I will fix it but I was having the same problem slave/pilot bearing go out cuz the car still moves under pressure but can only go into gear when off
Glad you got it figured out! Sorry for the late reply, This was definitely a clutch issue. A good thing to thing about when deciding either one, if you have clutch pedal pressure. But the clutch itself isn’t taking the car out of gear. Then it’s most likely your clutch. If you have no clutch pedal pressure, then it would be more your throwout bearing.
How could you tell the throw out bearing was going out/ bad because I have done lots of research and I honestly just can’t tell if it’s just my rst twin disk(1 yr old) getting worn down or the throw out bearing going out because it’s slipping at low rpm but still drivable and I don’t want to pay 850 for a whole clutch kit and throw out bearing replacement if it’s just my throw out bearing going bad…? I have bled and checked all fluids as well as lines and they are fine but still having problems with the clutch not fully engaging and it’s barely a year old with mild daily driving.
2011 mustang just something to add I have dropped the transmission 4 times already very important is that throw out bearing line being disconnect after pulling the transmission otherwise I have found the throw out bearing decompresses and sucks in air once you remove the transmission when reinstalling it connect the line before pushing the transmission All the way in.
Why wouldn’t there be a spacer already there if you need it? Trying to figure out what’s wrong with mine. Was not going into gear and came to the conclusion throwout bearing was bad, replaced it and shop said it was definitely bad but since I got it back it continues to give me issues when it sits. I have to pop the clutch to get it to work before I drive it. Since then took back to the shop, they replaced master cylinder and whatever they did had it working flawlessly for 2 weeks now back to the same thing. I’m assuming air in the line since it gets better not perfect but better when I pop the clutch. I’m just hoping the spacer has nothing to do with it but I figured it should have had a spacer there if it needed it 🤷🏽♂️. Car has a double plate McLeod clutch installed as well.
@@doughty_racing awesome 👍🏼 glad it helped out! I’ve had to pull this thing from issues with Throwout bearings, a mt82 that failed, and swapping clutches. So I figured I would post up a video 👍🏼
Sorry, just now seeing this. If it’s an OEM style throwout bearing. You install it. And start pumping the clutch and it’ll get fluid in there and start bleeding itself. If it’s the exedy throwout bearing then you have to bench bleed it. These throwout bearings even in the box or never installed shouldn’t be depressed. It’s a spring inside of it keeping it all the way out. It should always return to fully extended. If you asking how I got it to return originally from the start. I took my hand and operated the clutch pedal / pumped it all the way compressed and all the way out over and over until it was back to normal and operating correctly.
@@novitals9927 appreciate you. My mustang is up and running. Clutch pedal keeps coming back super slow. I can be at 3500 rpm’s and try to shift and the pedal sticks. Ik an aftermarket clutch line will help but kinda doubt it will fix it
@@jonathancollins2535 check your brake fluid, it’s a shared master cylinder with the clutch. Follow that line from the master cylinder and make sure there isn’t any kinks in it where pressure could be lost before the throwout bearing. Also try to pump up the clutch good until it feels the way you want and then take it out. If the pedal isn’t coming back you have a pressure issue somewhere so that’s where I’d start 👍🏼
@@novitals9927 no kinks but the fluid is black but full. And I did notice when I got the car back from my dad that it sprayed some brake fluid on the hood. But since then I haven’t been able to find the leak or have it leak like that again

Mustangs are such a piece of junk. I could put up with the engine tick, cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics, but that crap Chinese manual 6 speed in the GT was the last straw for me! Sold the Mustang after 2 months! I bought a real car, with a quality transmission and couldn't be happier! No wonder Ford stopped making cars...I guess we should all be thankful for that!
Bought a ‘14. Whoever dropped the trans prior to me didn’t torque the drive shaft down properly. Came apart while driving. Do it right or not at all.
Whoa!?!?
Ahhh man you told us everything except the bolt sizes ✌️ GOOD Video very accurate.
Good video. Thanks

U didn't mention the 7 or 8 bell housing
So the spacer doesn't bolt in? It just sits on the outside of the release bearing?
3hrs to just drop or 3hrs to do the whole job? About to install my ben calimer trans
Did you need to lower the trans in the rear to get to the top 2 bellhousing bolts?
I didn’t, they are an absolute pain in the..... Godspeed lol

You said you self bled the bearing by pumping it a million times. How did you get it to return when the new bearing is empty and depressed?

Why did you change your throw out brg? I have a 2012 gt it makes a whining noise when I apply the clutch. Any input on that?

How exactly did you bleed yours ive read its confusing on these mustangs, im changing mine but just wondering on how to bleed the system
U pump the shit out of the clutch and brake to help push bubbles to the top. Ford genius hack

I don’t disagree, The MT82 hindered these cars from being something truly iconic. ☹️
The Tremec tranny's do seem to be a better choice. Just get a GT500😎
How many bolts go through the bellhousing?
