    i know im late but "the only thing they fear is you" being the original bad ass title and "you kinda scare them" being this is funny asf

      @IvarTryti  2 года назад +3

      Hehe, thanks man! I tried to come up with dumb alternate titles for these =P. Rip and tear -> scratch and frazzle, and doom eternal -> gloom for a really long time

      @@IvarTryti man these titles are too good, well thought out, btw, im curious if the syntakt can replicate the guitar sounds like in the DOOM (or eternal) ost, since its a big deal breaker to me, or what are some good alternatives for said sounds, tia!

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  3 года назад

      Thank you very much! I'm using a preamp plugin called Phoenix to add some saturation, but the Digitone's own master overdrive sounds incredible. Especially for being just a 1 knob overdrive.
      I haven't tried the cycles before, but I think they don't overlap much. They both use FM synthesis, but the cycles seems to be more of a small and focused drum machine, while the Digitone is an all in one groovebox.

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  Год назад

      Thank you very much! :D
      It's not actual sidechain, I just made the drums a lot louder than everything else, then ran the stereo mix through a preamp and a multiband expander in post (Phoenix and Maximus). Though Phoenix isn't a compressor, I found that it accentuated the sidechain-like effect. It wasn't as pronounced when I bypassed Phoenix.

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! The pumping effect on the kick becomes more prominent when running the whole track through Phoenix, which I use to add saturation and distortion. I'm also using the master overdrive on the Digitone, which evens out the volume on everything coming out of it. I like to make my drum s a lot louder than the instruments so that when engaging the master overdrive, the drums are the first to distort. On the multiband expander I'm using a preset called "transparent" which pretty much just makes everything louder. It compress lows, mids and highs separately, and there's more compression action on the lows than the mids and highs and master volume.

      Thank you! It's all sound locked and p-locked and microtimed to overlap =D. I'm using sounds with arp enabled to make it so I can play many hihats in a row with just 1 trig, which frees up a lot of trigs for kicks and snares. There's also a lot of p-locks on the amp decay time to add ghost notes.

      Thank you very much, man! My theory is weak, but I tried to find the scale I was using. I think it's in C locrian, but the pads use notes outside of the scale. The bass only uses notes in that scale, afaik!

    Hi Ivar, as allways sounds amazing, are these all sounds created by the digitone or did you sample some tones?

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! All these sounds are coming from the Digitone, and it's all done in one take. I usually saturate the sound a bit with a plugin called Phoenix, but the Digitone's own master overdrive actually did most of the work.
      I made a tutorial on how I make the drum sounds here: ruclips.net/video/CUMi6zErxV0/видео.html
      I've shared my Digitone sounds on my patreon. There are 95 melodic sounds and 88 drum sounds so far. Also, I uploaded the project files containing the patterns (and sounds) for this track, Warts and All, Packed, and Sratch and Frazzle over there.

      @@IvarTryti cool, didnt know how capable the digitone really is. Have you ever used the korg minilogue? It sounds allright but to get the most out of it i connect my guitar effects to it. Cool ill check your patreon out. I wanted to buy a new guitar, but i may get the digitone first^^

      @@tonymahoeney The Digitone can do some really cool stuff, but it *does* take a lot of tweaking and fine tuning to get there, not to mention a lot of trial and error :P. And yeah, the Digitone has built in chorus, reverb, delay and overdrive. The overdrive is just a one-knob effect though. Sounds good, but it can't be customized. Watch some Digitone tutorials and see if the workflow looks fun to you! IMO, it might be worth getting a Digitone over a guitar if you already have a good quality guitar.

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  4 года назад

      I'm using the Digitone as an audio interface and am recording it into FL Studio. The Digitone's master overdrive is set to around 50%, which might explain the distortion. I also run the audio through a plugin called Phoenix, which is a preamp plugin I use to saturate the whole thing.

  • @r4x2
    @r4x2 4 года назад +2

    I'd like to see you build a song on Digitone, maybe sample and tweak drums on Digitakt, and master in FL. This mix is much more lively and interesting than FL tracks you dump on Digitakt. This isn't a dig, because I enjoy your music, but just a passing observation and constructive criticism out of love.

    • @IvarTryti
      @IvarTryti  4 года назад

      Thank you very much, Ryan! It'd be awesome to showcase my whole process one day. I think I go into a different "mode" when making music on the Elektron boxes than when I use FL Studio. There's a lot more improvisation and happy accidents, and rolling with them tends to give me the best results. It's the same with mixing; the Digitakt and Digitone don't have any meters or anything to show you how loud or soft a sound is, so they're practically training me to use my ears to make my judgements. I don't have to worry about clipping either, because there's so much headroom that setting everything to max volume still only pushes a dB-meter only halfway up. You *can* get it louder with delay feedback or max distortion and resonance, but that's rarely something I use in my tracks. Thanks for the constructive feedback :D
