  • The Ministry of water and Environment says it needs 5.5bn shillings to address the challenge of rising water levels in the country. Water Minister Sam Cheptoris says he announced this during commemoration of the World Environment Day set for next month, renewing calls to people, who have encroached on sensitive ecosystems to vacate. It comes at a time when several parts of the globe including countries in East Africa are suffering from the effects of rising lake water levels, which have claimed several lives and destroyed livelihoods.
