    I love DYT! When I was a little girl, my favorite things were made of soft cotton, or had connected floral patterns. Your Style kit has been one of the beat purchases I’ve ever made. So many times I would agonize over an item in the store, then regret my choice to compromise comfort. Things would be so lovely in the store but then at home I’d find it far too restrictive, unable to move freely in it, or just uncomfortable.
    Recently I came across a style called “Mori Kei” (Japanese for “forest girl”) and immediately I loved it, and sure enough it is Type 2. My favorite styles look like they belong in a Safari, and it’s because the colors are muted and dusty, and low contrast with the monochromic palette.
    I just wish there was more Type 2 animal print. I love the leopard print, Aztec patterns, tribal patterns, but it’s all very hard to find in soft and subtle colors, haha!

      I don't know if it fits with your personal style but I've found a lot of snakeskin print works with the Type 2 palette and patterns! Has a similar shape to leopard, but in colors that work for us, and also a little bit more elongation and s-curves.

    • @christiana_mandalynn
      @christiana_mandalynn 3 года назад +2

      @@Nerdy-By-Nature I do love snakeskin print but have never, ever worn or used it for accessories! This is one thing I would love to try. It’s much more blended than most animal prints. For years I have adored leopard print interwoven with flowers and florals; my favorite purse as a teenager was a soft-toned leopard print combined with roses!

    • @Nerdy-By-Nature
      @Nerdy-By-Nature 3 года назад +3

      @@christiana_mandalynn that sounds lovely!! I do really enjoy a blended leopard print, I've found a few here and there that are cream and beige, or gray and softened white (soft snow leopard), but you're right, very hard to come by.
      Oh and I have a Type 2 friend I saw yesterday who had on a long cardi in an aztec print that was cool beige and cream. Saw it after your comment! It was very pretty!

    This summer up a lot for me.
    I am not at all drawn to watermelons as a type 1; with a secondary 4 it feels too much for me. Yet a white washed pair of lightweight jeans and a solid shirt in a type 1 color, simple lightweight earings, and I am set.
    I mostly dressed my truth while in my career then as mother I tried to "simplify" things by going toward black and grey only to not like the ending result. Now I'm back at and feeling so grateful to be dressing my truth again. Thanks so much for the redirection Carol, appreciate your work.

    I am T2 all day long, much of my wardrobe is instinctive T2, I don’t own any black at all. I love navy and grey, always worn silver and wear brown mascara. I have always loved leopard print though and in my college days would wear more of the less edgy of the T3 style which was maybe me trying to feel more confident, I still like those pieces.
    I’m starting to see my T1 friendly chatty jokey silly side especially since having my kids.
    I think I’m maybe T2 /1/3/4 in that order.
    But dressing wise I would put myself as T2 /3/1/4 as my personal style instinct. 🤔
    I find this all so interesting and love learning more about myself.

    As a child I was my own authority with my personal style. My mom always tried to put me in dresses and patent leather flats but I wouldn’t hear of it. Only pants for me! I also hated my wavy hair “sticking out over my ears” so I made her cut it short! I didn’t want all the movement and attention from the big hair and foofy clothes!

    This is one of the areas where I feel at odds with my T2 assessment. I definitely do the stretch test & can tell with one touch if a fabric will be comfortable on my skin, but the T2 colors/patterns just don't speak to me. I have always loved richly colored plaid and the jewel tones of Indian saris.

    When you talked about T4s remembering their preferences which they have quashed over the years, I remember my sophomore year of high school Holly Hop (Christmas dance). All the other girls were opting for red lace or something "confection" in nature. What did I choose -- and felt wonderful in it? A black velvet suit -- pencil skirt with a bolero jacket -- and a white silk shirt with a stock collar! And black ballet flats! How much more T4 than that can one intuitively get!! At 15 I knew who I was! :-)

    The negative mantra I told my type 4 self as a child was “I’m the odd one out.” And I felt like I better just be quiet and hope no one notices me or I won’t be liked and I’ll get kicked out. So I hid in type 2 but I’m really type 4.

    I am either lazy type 3, or edgy and sarcastic at the times type 2- I blame covid 🤪- I am a labor and delivery nurse- thus I have to be warm, nurturing and loving. All my patients says that they loved in labor that I was so calm, many call me their mom (I am 46 y.o and I think I look young-ish); but lately I have been very angry and agitated....Aquarius by horoscope, love comfort and comfortable clothing and shoes- frequently I don’t follow a style, but go by comfort.BUT I also love an edgy look, especially yours😍 and sometimes drawn to type 3 colors and jewelry- I only wear it for special occasions and vacations- everybody complements me- must be a shock to them- I came out of my shell😎 I am soft spoken and love to be alone, but occasionally my bile will jump out of me in form of sarcastic joke- people don’t expect this from me and they really “love that side of me”.s I think I am primarily type 2, with probably type 3 as secondary. I know for a fact I am not type 1, or 4...

LOL, once I put on a T3 top and make up when I was really struggling to decide between 2 and 3. As soon as my daughter saw me she said something isn't right, that isn't a good look on you - although of course you are always beautiful Mom! Gotta love tactful daughters :) I hadn't even told her I was experimenting! So, T2 S3 it is. As a little little girl I chose to wear as less as possible in the summer and with my little orange cash register I would charge the kids a stuffed animal or money if they wanted to come play in my yard. All before 5 yrs old. After that jeans, t shirt and tennis shoes were the best. Now I love color and am into the whole outfit. Now at 64 I am just starting DYT and loving it! Gifts got me away from my natural taste. When I was a little girl, I wanted everything crocodile. Every holiday, T1 relatives got me cartoon crocodile things, very friendly with round teeth and smooth bright green skin. T4s got me with stuff with discrete crocodile silhouettes -- lots of Lacoste. No bumpy skin, no jagged teeth, no nothing.
    Peacock feathers as well. When I was 12 or so, I bought myself a pair of peacock feather earrings with money I won in a blackjack game with another 12 year old. My Great Aunt Maria saw me in them and announced "only burlesque dancers wear peacock feathers". I had to look up burlesque dancers at the library because nobody would tell me what they were. Mysteriously, the earrings vanished. My mother made it up me by buying me a set of oversized pearl studs. Then I got in trouble for regaling the dinner table with the life story of Gypsy Rose Lee.
    So there I was in my giant pearls with a cutesy crocodile on my sweater, and everyone was mad because I was gambling on the playground and reading about famous strippers in the encyclopedia, and I just quit trying to like things.
