Wow... I was just enlightened a bit more by this! I never knew about the Shakespeare references in these movies... that being that I didn't know anything about Shakespeare at all...

I think The Lion King has more in common with Henry IV Part One than Hamlet, tbh. Great video, though.

I see I'm not the only one who has seen Kyle Kallgren's video. I definitely agree with you and Kyle Kallgren.

Or did it there was a alternate scene where Nala (Simba's Beat Friend/ Girlfriend) not mother is called by Scar who tries to get Nala to be his queen of the pride.

I'd say TLK was one part Hamlet with a little of Richard III and maybe some of Henry V mixed in. Scar definitely reminds me more of Richard III - has that diabolical sense of humor that Claudius doesn't.

All of these comments disagreeing or saying other works are closer to the Lion King while I was the one sitting in grade eleven and made the realization during English class that the movie was blatantly based on the play.

A quick question about Disney films in the 90s. Of the big four (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King), which of them do you personally like the most and least? In fairness, I'll give mine in that order:
    1. Beauty and the Beast (Like the most)
    2. Aladdin/The Lion King (they both tie for me)
    3. The Little Mermaid (Like the least)

I don't see Hamlet at all in The Lion King. Hamlet has barely anything to do with his dad, and never gains any real attachment to anything or anyone. Scar is supposedly the Claudius, but he fits better as Fortinbras, who in Hamlet is actually a good guy. There's no Polonius, Horatio, or Laertes, all of them major characters in Hamlet. But I do see quite a bit of Shakespeare's Henry IV: Simba being Hal, Scar being Hotspur, Mufasa being Bolingbroke, the hyenas being the Scots, and Timon and Pumbaa being Falstaff and his crew.

I am surprised Renegade Cut endorsed a movie that portrays monarchy as a legitimate form of government and shows that different kinds of people not being separated ruins society XD

I have to agree with The Radical Reviewer on this one, The Lion King is garbage, but you make a good point in the two being similar
