  • Here's a comparison talk between my mr2 showcar and the 86 track/weekly ride. The sw20 was specifically built for the shows. With all the modifications geared towards that them. And many have been one-off custom made creations. On the other side is the 86, which was built for the track. Everything from the turbo kit to the suspension mods where installed to make this ride reliable yet a fun car to take to the tracks. Both on the opposite extreme of form vs function.

Mr2 all day. The mr2 is a better track car in my opinion but the point is like you said express yourself through cars.

Hi, I have a completely stock mr2 (not turbo) and I'm not sure if I like it as much as I'd like. Its from 1992 and the transmission syncros is pretty much gone in 1st and 2nd, I dont like that its loud on the highway and sometimes it has some small problems that need to be fixed. I kinda want to have a 4 seater instead of 2 and I dont have the knowledge or the tools to work on the car if somethings really wrong.
I am thinking about selling my sw20. The main reason I bought my mr2 is because I love how jdm cars look and the mr2 was the most affordable, but it isnt super practical for being my daily driver. I want a low maintenance car while still having a cool sportscar look and fun to drive. I'm looking for a RWD 4 seater and the GT86 looks like the best option right now but its quite more expensive. Do you think its a good car to get? Is it as fun to drive as the MR2? If I do get the GT86 i think I want to put a bodykit onto it kinda like how yours looks. Also I was wondering about the ride height, My dad has a toyota ch-r and when i drive it I feel like im operating a boat with how high im sitting XD. Is the ride height comparable to the mr2? Or maybe got any other recommendations for what I should do

hello, the mr2 can be a great weekend car if you know how to take care of it. because it's a mid engine, it's very challenging to work on the motor. and because the wheelbase is short, it's easier to swerve more during cornering. the gt86 can be a good daily driver because it's reliable. i've never had any mechanical issues with it and i have a custom turbo installed. the 86 platform was designed to be lower than most cars. it sits lower in stock form, even before i actually lowered it more with coilovers. compared to the mr2, nismo 370z, rsx, the gt86 still feels the lowest and best with talking corners. although the s2k and evo are also great on corners. however, keep in mind that i added a custom turbo to make it faster. in stock form (200hp), it's not that fast in a straight line. in fact, my stage 2 GTI will beat it without effort (380hp). but if you're just looking for a fun daily driver, that sits lower than most cars, good on corners, rear wheel drive, that has more room and more reliable than an mr2, then the gt86 can be a good choice.

@@flashchronicles Thanks for the fast response!
With my MR2 I only drive from point A to B (work, groceries etc) and dont go racing or anything. I do like to step on the pedal a little but I'm scared of anything breaking on me and not being able to fix it. So theres not really much of a reason for me to keep the mr2 with this thought always in my mind.
The S2k is something i thought about but I'm thinking its best to get a 4 seater since it can be more convenient for a daily. and the EVO is also a cool car but its a bit too expensive for me. Ive looked a bit more at the GT86 now and it seems perfect for what I want. Theres lots of costumizability with the aftermarket support and should be easier to maintain. I'll have to put my MR2 on sale and when its sold I'll probably buy the car. I'll have loads of time to think about it but I'm almost sure the mr2 has got to go since I'm thinking too much about things going wrong with it 😅. Maybe it'll take a while before a buyer shows up so I'll be able to enjoy it while i still have it. Its my first car and I have it for around 7 months now so far but yeah just too scared to keep it XD

to be straight, i stopped counting long ago but it would be upwards of around 75k, without adding all the time invested planning and coordinating each build
