This is AWESOME! Love this sort of research. I hope we get more updates - I'm subscribing for em!
This is such a fascinating project we can't wait to hear how it goes! Thank you for sharing :)
I was going to go here but wasn't sure based on such little information, although I'm glad they have a wide range of facilities in the biology department so this video actually change my perspective in more ways than one :)
What a nice facility. Interesting studies going on there. Thanks for sharing.
Its exciting stuff! Thanks for watching!
Awesome Coop nice place to work very interesting study of the different lizards. Cheers mate
Thanks!
Love those Cunningham skinks I found a few back in January and didn't know what they were till now
Good stuff Cooper! I have seen Monitors learn via observation but never in dragons so this is incredibly interesting. When you cay Canberra do you mean UC?
What do you use to mark them?
The Egernia cunninghami babies with mother so adorable! Nice video!
Yes I was stoked to capture that moment! thanks!

The paint doesn’t hurt them?
cool outdoors enclosure.
They are!
Still no update?
Dam no update yet ?
What they mark them with will it come off
Yes! Once they shed their skin
Reptile research is much needed, there’s a lot of misinformation out there about certain lizards, in particular bearded dragons and it’s frustrating.
Wonder if it storms
How do you make sure each dragon and lizard gets fed equally?
@@TTNL2442 when I was there they would get multiple large food dishes they could access on feed day and insects would be scatter fed. Natural weeds and other material would also grow which the dragons would feed on!
Where’s the update ?
hectic cooper! wish i could visit it
Thanks! Yeah its really awesome to see all the lizards out in the warmer months!
did bird stole them sometimes ?
I had no idea macquarie was doing reptile research! :O
What happens if it gets cold outside? Do they have like indoor areas?
They have hide boxes. We can bring them inside if needed but beardies can take cold
@@coopsreptiles2588 super cool
@@coopsreptiles2588 you don’t have problems with birds trying to get at the reptiles? Or other animals like raccoons, foxes, or such?
My dream place 🥺
I want a bearded dragon red and gray
So. Basically. You’re working out how to train your dragon to train your other dragons...
haha precisely
Is it like model-rival training, but without the rivalry? I use a lot of that on my Kindergarten class 🤣
@@andielouise6348 Not really, the lizards we're training will be trained to open a sliding door of a puzzle feeder through shaping training and trial-and-error learning. Once they've successfully learned how to open the door, they'll be put into the outdoor enclosures and the same puzzle feeder will be placed into the enclosures as well. I'll be tracking how the rest of the untrained lizards learn to open the door through some very fancy data collection and statistical analyses. Social learning by imitation in bearded dragons has already been demonstrated in a paper published in 2014, so this study is focusing more on the organic spread of information through a population & what factors are involved in that.
Coops can you do a live stream on a weekend I am at school for the week days
will do next time i can
Thanks I admire you and I want to be like you when I get out of child prison (school) thanks though lol
won't stop a cat from getting in there at night
Youre not worried about cats?
What kind of reptile farm is this? Amazing WOW% #%@^
The amazing thing is that these bearded dragons are not fighting with each other. My two can't stand the sight of each other and want to fight all the time. Therefore, they have separate enclosures. Here 60 live in relative harmony. How can this be?
Simple more space and more resources. There isn't as much need to fight just look at all that space they have o.o
Dam no still no update 😢wtfreak
I don’t work at the Lab anymore. See their publications for any results but I would assume it’s still ongoing.
First comment
I don’t understand why such a nice ass facility makes the inside of the enclosures look so cheap and wonky in my opinion the pallet idea is cool but looks like shit I would do the enclosures with branches logs and rocks to make it look more natural
